Royal Revved

Chapter 4: 4

The royal family of Latvia was lodged in a five stay hotel in Country V. They would've spent the night at the royal palace but they'd set out for their kingdom immediately after their royal dinner with the royal family of Valencia. No one said a word about Princess Alexis' outburst. Vincent couldn't help getting even more intrigued, she was truly a character and a rare gem that he'd never set eyes on.

As he stared at his phone, he was surprised to see a message from his bride-to-be. It was a shocker after everything shed spouted during dinner. He smirked as he read the text. Can we talk please? First of all, he didn't think the word 'please' was in her dictionary, second, of course. Sure, he replied. Can it be tonight? I'm not free tomorrow, he smiled at the thought that she really wanted to talk to him. Did it mean that everything she said and did tonight was just an act and that she really wanted to marry him? Sure, do you have any location in my mind? He asked. She sent him the address of a fancy restaurant and that ended their conversation. If that wasn't an act then this would be probably be the last time he'd ever text her but if it wasn't, which he hoped it wasn't, then there would be future chats between them. He smiled sheepishly at the thought.

"Mother, father, I have something I want to take care of, I'll be at the hotel shortly," Vincent said as he turned his phone off.

"Do be careful son," Queen Vanessa said as the car came to a stop. Vincent got out of the car and entered the one behind it. It was a silent drive to the café where Alexis wanted to meet him. He spotted her sitting on the bench watching the local television that hung at the edge of the wall.

"You're a princess yet you choose to act like a commoner," he said as he reached the table where she sat.

"You're welcome to leave Vincent, it's not like I want you here," Alexis retorted as she turned to glare at him.

"You texted me and asked if we could talk, that kind of means you want me here,"

"You have the choice of leaving anytime you want," Alexis said as she got up from the bench.

"Hey hey wait," he said holding her arm. "Alright I'm sorry, have a seat let's talk," he said as he sat down while looking up expectantly at her. Truth be told, Alexis' words at the dinner party really hurt Vincent, he liked her, no he loved her and just didn't understand why she didn't like him.

Alexis smirked inwardly; she knew Vincent was in love with her and no matter how many she told him she felt nothing for him, he still maintained his feelings for her. It was stupid of him yes but it was to her advantage.

"Be honest with me Vince," Alexis began. "Why do our parents want us to get married?" she asked. Vincent had expected something else, maybe an apology or anything…just something different. Why would she ask that?

"What?"

"Why are they so insistent on our marriage, they both know I don't want to get married to you yet no matter what I do, your mother doesn't get irritated at me, your father doesn't say a word, my parents yell at me hours un-end but the marriage is still on, why?"

"Because I love you,"

"I'm being serious Vincent,"

"I don't remember smiling Alexis,"

"That's not what I mean Vince, come on they must have told you something,"

"We're getting married because I love you and they want you to be the next queen of Latvia Alexis, why can't you understand that?"

"Because I don't love you Vincent, I don't want to be the fucking queen of your fucking country…and I never will," Alexis yelled and got up. She inhaled a sharp breath and stared at Vincent sternly. "I just wanted to ask you that but it seems you don't have an answer for me, have a good night your highness," she said and walked away.
