Chapter 6: Shadow Racer
A roaring crowd cheered as Alexis, disguised in her racing gear, crossed the finish line in record time, making the winner of the RCC. The adrenaline and exhilaration of victory coursed through her veins like the heart pumping blood through the body viciously. No one in the audience, besides a young lady with black hair and light hazel eyes who was dressed in a white tee, black leather jacket, black leather jeans and black boots and had sunshades on, knew that the enigmatic racer controlling the tracks was none other than their very own princess.
She drove to the podium where her gold trophy was. A woman was holding it in her hands, a beaming smile etched on her face. She opened the back door of her car and the woman carefully the trophy on the back seat.
"Can I have an autograph Shadow Racer?" it was a boy who looked roughly around eleven or twelve. Alexis normally didn't give autographs because she felt it could be traced down to her but…
'What's keeping you?' Alice asked over the microphone and earpiece she was wearing.
"A boy's asking for my autograph," she replied in a whisper.
"Well give it to him,' Alice said. Alexis stretched her hand out of the window. The boy put out a miniature sized version of her Ford GT40; she smiled and quickly signed the car with a black permanent marker the boy had given her. She ruffled the boy's brown hair after returning the marker to him.
"What's your name kid?"
"Alex," Alexis smiled.
"I want to see you after my next race; you'll ride around the track with me yeah?"
"Yeah, thank you Shadow Racer," the boy said excitedly. Alexis closed the window and swiftly drove to the bleachers. It all happened in a flash, the young lady at the bleachers vanished into thin air as Alexis' Ford GT40 drove passed the bleachers; no one seemed to notice as she just disappeared. Alexis slipped away to her private garage, where she meticulously maintained her awesome and impressive collection of cars, ranging from sports cars, race cars and normal cars.
She practically jumped out of the car as she pulled up in her garage. She took her helmet off and grinned at Alice as she came out of the car even calmer than Alexis. Alice quietly leaned on a stack of tires twirling her shades in her hands and staring at her sister as she celebrated her win.
"How is it that you always react this way after each race you win?" Alice asked, her voice low but audible enough for Alexis to hear.
"Because Alice, it was a near miss, a near miss Alice, did you see that? If I hadn't gone boost when I did I would've surely come in second place,"
"But you didn't," a male voice said. Alice and Alexis turned to the voice and right there leaning on the wall dressed in all black just like Alice, was their older brother Aaron.
"Brother did you watch my race? Did you see how I took over first place like that?" Alexis asked; eager to hear what her older brother would say.
"Yes Alexis I watched your race but we need to get back home, we have important guests coming over," Aaron said. Alexis quickly went to her car and took the trophy out.
"One for the camera Aaron, please," Alexis said. "And I want both of you in it," Alice and Aaron sighed. They stood together, the trophy in Alexis' hands as they smiled at the camera. She put the trophy in her trophy case, smiled proudly at it and then went to change. As she mentally praised herself on her latest acquisition, her thoughts drifted to the second upcoming royal engagement with Vincent, a man she hardly liked being around anymore.
