Chapter 10: Wanna Join Beacon
The next few days Oscar, was training his Decoy Mastery skill it went to a Level 5.
So one morning it was about to happened, as it did Oscar was working on the farm then he head it, as he looker at Qrow who walked up
Qrow looked at as he spoke. "Hey kid is your aunt here".
Oscar mentally curse as he looked at him. "No?".
Qrow looked at as he spoke. "Good, let's go to your house and talk for a bit".
Oscar just screamed mentally, as he went to him with his house and the first question came
Qrow lookee at him. "I gotta say your a smart kid, you have hidden long enough, so tell why did you start the fire".
Oscar looked at him as she spoke. "Why do you think it is me"
Qrow looked at as he spoke. "You are acting neverse, when ever you see me on town, and the last few days I heard the crushing pd leaves and much more, so why did you do it".
Oscar just looked at Qrow as he spoke what was in his mind. "It is my Semblance, it allows me to".
Qrow looked at him as he spoke. "Control Fire?".
Oscar just looked at him as he spoke. "More like the minuplation off enegrry and particals".
He couldn't tell that he has a system, after all who will believe it.
Qrow just looked at him as he counties. "Ok then, why did you start it, unless you recently unlocked it"
Oscar not wanting to meet Qrow in the eyes he spoke. "Yes, I have training in night then I was attacked by the Grimm, I depended my self and it will let to it".
Qrow just looked at him as he spoke in his mind. "Half truth, but he defeated a Grimm my him self, he is 14 year old farm boy and he doing that... Just great a Prodigy Hunter in the making"
Qrow leaned back in his chair, studying Oscar with a mix of suspicion and curiosity. He took a slow sip from his flask, letting the silence hang in the air. "You know, kid," he said finally, "unlocking a Semblance can be messy. Some people don't survive it. You burned down a whole patch of forest, and you're lucky that's the worst thing that happened."
Oscar fidgeted, unsure of how to respond. "I didn't mean to cause trouble," he said, keeping his tone as neutral as possible. "I just… reacted."
Qrow raised an eyebrow, his sharp red eyes boring into Oscar. "Reacted, huh? And you've been 'reacting' every night since then too?"
Oscar's heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean?"
Qrow smirked, leaning forward. "I've been tracking you, kid. Shadows moving through the night, weird scorch marks in places they shouldn't be, and the occasional busted Grimm carcass. You're not just training out there, are you?"
Oscar hesitated, searching for the right words. "I… I'm trying to get better. To control it. I don't want to hurt anyone."
Qrow's smirk faded, replaced by a more serious expression. "Look, kid, controlling a Semblance isn't easy. It takes time, patience, and guidance. You're lucky you haven't hurt yourself or someone else yet."
Oscar swallowed hard. "I've been careful."
"Not careful enough," Qrow shot back. "You think you're sneaky, but you're still just a kid. If you keep this up, someone's going to notice, and not everyone's as understanding as me."
Oscar met Qrow's gaze, determination flickering in his green eyes. "I can handle it."
Qrow let out a dry laugh. "Yeah? Handling a few Grimm is one thing, but you're playing with fire—literally. You need proper training, and that's not something you're going to get messing around in the woods."
Oscar hesitated. He couldn't deny that Qrow had a point, but revealing more than he already had felt dangerous. "I'll think about it," he said finally, hoping to end the conversation.
Qrow sighed, standing up. "You do that. But if I find out you're lying about anything else, we're going to have another talk, and it won't be as friendly."
He turned to leave, pausing at the door. "One last thing, kid. Next time you're out there at night, make sure you're not leaving tracks. Grimm aren't the only things that hunt in the dark."
Oscar watched Qrow leave, his mind racing. He'd managed to dodge the worst of Qrow's suspicions for now, but it was clear the Huntsman wasn't going to let this go.
As the door closed, Oscar slumped against the wall, letting out a shaky breath. "That was too close," he muttered, opening his system menu to check his stats and skills.
[System Update
Decoy Mastery: Level 6
Agility: +1
Intelligence: +2 ]
Oscar's gaze lingered on the screen. He'd need to be smarter and more careful if he wanted to stay ahead of Qrow. "Looks like my training just got a whole lot harder," he said to himself, determination hardening his resolve.
Qrow them cane back, as Oscar looked at him. "You know, I will not report you, just say I found the guy, but I have one thing to ask, if you say yes to this, noting will be said".
Oscar looked at Qrow as he spoke. "Anything, as long as you don't tell anyone".
Qrow smirked, looks like he got the person to Join Beacon to keep an Eye on Ruby. "What do you say about Joining Beacon under my recommendation".
Oscar froze at Qrow's words, his heart racing. Join Beacon? The thought had never crossed his mind. He was just trying to survive, to figure out his abilities without drawing attention. Yet here was Qrow, offering him an opportunity to join one of the most prestigious Huntsman academies in Remnant.
He swallowed hard, trying to keep his voice steady. "Why me? I'm just a farm kid who's trying not to burn down another forest. Why would Beacon want someone like me?"
Qrow crossed his arms, leaning against the doorframe with a smug expression. "You're no ordinary farm kid. You've got talent—raw, unpolished talent, but talent nonetheless. You held your own against Grimm, unlocked your Semblance, and you've been out there training without anyone holding your hand. That's more than most kids your age can say."
Oscar furrowed his brow, still unsure. "But what if I mess up? What if I hurt someone?"
Qrow's smirk softened into something almost encouraging. "That's why Beacon exists. To teach people like you how to control your power, how to fight, and how to protect people. You've got potential, kid. You just need someone to help you harness it."
Oscar hesitated, the weight of the decision pressing down on him. On one hand, joining Beacon could give him the skills and knowledge he desperately needed. On the other hand, it would mean leaving the life he'd known and putting himself under constant scrutiny.
"But why are you offering this?" he asked, narrowing his eyes.
Qrow chuckled, scratching the back of his head. "Let's just say I've got a vested interest in keeping an eye on promising kids. And maybe I need a favor down the line."
Oscar sighed, knowing this was an opportunity he couldn't pass up. "Alright," he said reluctantly. "I'll do it. But you have to promise not to tell anyone about… you know, the fire and everything else."
Qrow nodded, extending a hand. "Deal. Welcome to the big leagues, kid. I'll handle the paperwork and get you a spot. Just be ready—Beacon's not for the faint of heart."
Oscar shook Qrow's hand, a mix of excitement and anxiety swirling inside him. As Qrow left, Oscar opened his system menu again, preparing for the road ahead.
[New Objective: Prepare for Beacon Academy!
Train Decoy Mastery to Level 10.
Enhance Combat Skills.
Research Beacon and its curriculum.
Survive Qrow's 'training sessions ]
Oscar leaned back in his chair, taking a deep breath. "Well," he muttered, "guess my quiet life is officially over."
With that of Qrow he called Ozpin, as he spoke to him. "Found the person responsible with the fire in the forest, no he is not related to Her I checked"
Qrow then heard what Ozpin said as he spoke. "Yeah I will still be in Mistral, but I found a kid he is 14 and will he is talented, a Prodigy almost, and will I wants him to Join Beacon"
Qrow then heard Ozpin replays as he then speaks. "Yeah yeah I know hypocritical of me, and no this is not because of Ruby, just someone I want to recommend, we have 5 days before Beacon start, it will only take 2 days to get things and 1 day for the air ship to Vale comes".
Ozpin's voice came through the line, calm yet inquisitive. "A fourteen-year-old prodigy, you say? And not related to her, you're certain?"
"I checked," Qrow replied, his tone firm. "He's just a kid with a lot of potential. Took down a Grimm on his own, apparently right after unlocking his Semblance. The fire was collateral damage—he was defending himself. Not exactly textbook, but impressive for a farm boy."
There was a pause on the other end before Ozpin spoke again. "You've always been cautious about recommending anyone, Qrow. For you to bring this up means the boy must have left quite the impression. What's his demeanor like?"
Qrow leaned back, glancing out the window. "Nervous but sharp. He's hiding something—don't ask me what—but I don't think it's malicious. Just a kid trying to figure out where he fits. If we don't guide him, someone else might, and we both know how that story goes."
Ozpin hummed thoughtfully. "Fair point. If you believe he has the potential, I'll trust your judgment. But we're already days away from the semester's start. Is he prepared?"
"That's why I'm sticking around for a few days," Qrow said, smirking slightly. "Gonna make sure he doesn't burn down anything else before the airship leaves for Vale. I'll give him the basics—enough so he doesn't look like a deer in headlights when he steps into Beacon."
Ozpin chuckled softly. "Very well. Ensure he has what he needs. I'll approve his admission and make the necessary arrangements. What's his name?"
"Oscar," Qrow answered. "Oscar Pine. Keep an eye on him, Oz. I've got a feeling he'll surprise us."
With that, the call ended, and Qrow tucked his scroll away. He glanced toward the small house in the distance, where Oscar was likely training or plotting his next move.
"Five days, huh?" Qrow muttered, cracking his neck. "Let's see if you've got what it takes, kid."
Next day Oscar cleared a Dungeon, it was a wolf Grimm Dungeon as he got a few more Exp, as he started to moved he then used [watee blast] as he destroyed the last of the Monster.
Then he saw the Purple gate of trh Dungeon opening, Oscar just looked at it
Oscar just sigehd as he spoke. "So no boss in this one huh I gess that makes sense".
[ Host you have levoed up to Level 23, but the last of the Dungeon Location in your area have been done, the system can't give you more dungeon key's to this are ]
Oscar raised an eyebrow at that as he spoke. "Pretty convenient if you ask me, I am going Vale and I am out of Dungeon to level up".
Oscar then pulled out a pancake from his system inventory, as then ate it as he started to recover his Hp, he learned after a embracing amout of time he can eat food to eat him self, at this point Oscar need to put so many Video Logic to him that why this was not his first though was still unlnow to him
[Quest Completed, Prepare for Beacon Academy]
Oscar stretched as he walked out of the now-closed dungeon gate, feeling the familiar rush of experience coursing through his body.
"So that's it for the local dungeons," he muttered, finishing the last bite of his pancake. "Guess I'm ready for Beacon, huh?"
The system chimed in once more.
[ Quest Completed: Prepare for Beacon Academy ]
Rewards: +500 XP, +1 Skill Point, Beacon Academy Starter Kit (Auto-Delivered to Inventory)
Oscar raised an eyebrow as he checked his inventory. The starter kit included a set of combat uniforms, a new map of Vale, and a strange-looking metallic badge.
"What the hell is this?" he muttered, tapping the badge in his inventory.
[ Beacon Identification Badge: Required for all students to enter the Academy premises. Includes integrated communication functions and personalized aura monitoring. ]
Oscar sighed. "Figures. They've got all the bells and whistles." He couldn't deny that it was impressive, though.
He stretched his arms above his head, looking at the horizon where the sun was beginning to rise. "Looks like it's time to say goodbye to this sleepy little village. Next stop: Vale."
The next day, Oscar found himself at the village's small bus stop, a duffel bag slung over his shoulder. Qrow leaned against a nearby wall, sipping from his flask as he watched Oscar fidget.
"You nervous, kid?" Qrow asked, smirking.
Oscar shook his head, though his expression said otherwise. "Not really. Just... don't know what to expect."
Qrow chuckled. "You'll do fine. Just remember, Beacon's full of people who think they're hot stuff. Don't let it get to your head."
Oscar nodded, taking the advice to heart. He was confident in his abilities, but he knew there was always someone stronger out there.
As the airship to Vale came into view, Oscar took a deep breath.
"This is it," he said to himself, determination in his voice.
Qrow clapped him on the back. "Welcome to the big leagues, kid. Let's see if you can keep up."
With that, the two boarded the airship, setting Oscar on the path to becoming a Huntsman—and perhaps, something more.
After a while they arrived to Vale, as then Oscar got on the train as Qrow said good luck to the kid, as Oscar started to sat on the train which will take him to the main air ship of Beacon Academy, as he close his eyes, then he heard a voice a Girl
"hey can I um shit here, are a sleep, if so sorry".
Oscar opned his eyes, as he saw who the voice it was it was a Girl, she has red hair in a waist-length ponytail, curled slightly into a loose ringlet. She also wore light-green eyeshadow around the far upper corners of her green eyes. She was tall and quite muscular compared to most of the other girl's
As a top, she wore a brown overbust corset with a vertical strip of lighter brown in the center. Additionally, Pyrrha wore an elastic, black, A-line mini skirt and brown opera-length gloves on both arms. She wore a red ankle-length sash that wrapped around her skirt, As for accessories, there was a small circular bronze plate on her right hip opposite two pouches with both connected to a belt. The plate bore her emblem. Underneath her hair, she always wore a brown circlet adorned with a pair of small, green, teardrop-shaped emeralds on thin chains. She also sported a large bronze gorget around her neck and a bronze bracelet on the upper half of her left arm. Even when dressed in her school uniform, Pyrrha continued to wear her headpiece.
[ Insert Image of Pyrrha here ]
Oscar looked at as he spoke, kinds blushing seeing the Prettys girl. "Um yeah sure, I have no problems with that"
Pyrrha smiled at him as she sat down. "Nice to meet you, my name is Pyrrha Nikos".
Oscar looked at her as he scratched his face with a nervous smile. "My name is Oscar Pine".
Pyrrha smiled warmly, extending a hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Oscar. Are you heading to Beacon as well?"
Oscar shook her hand, nodding. "Y-Yeah, I am. It's my first time leaving my village, though. So, this is all... kind of new to me."
Pyrrha chuckled softly. "I understand. Starting a new chapter in a place like Beacon can be overwhelming, but exciting too. I'm sure you'll do great."
Oscar scratched the back of his head, feeling a bit more relaxed. "Thanks. So, uh, you're going to Beacon too, right? You look like you're already a pro or something."
Pyrrha's cheeks turned a faint pink, and she waved a hand modestly. "Oh, I wouldn't say that. I've had some experience with combat tournaments, but Beacon is a whole new challenge. I'm looking forward to it."
Oscar blinked in surprise. "Combat tournaments? That sounds intense. Were you, like, a champion or something?"
Pyrrha hesitated, her modesty keeping her from outright bragging. "I've been fortunate enough to win a few, yes. But Beacon isn't just about combat—it's about teamwork and growing as a person."
Oscar nodded thoughtfully. "Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I've been training on my own for a while, but working with others... that'll be new for me."
Pyrrha smiled again, her kind demeanor putting Oscar at ease. "Then you're already taking the first step by coming to Beacon. Who knows? Maybe we'll end up on the same team."
Oscar couldn't help but smile back. "That'd be cool. You seem... really nice."
As the train sped toward its destination, the two continued their conversation, with Pyrrha sharing stories of her tournament experiences and Oscar, cautiously, talking about life on the farm and his newfound dreams of becoming a Huntsman.
By the time they reached the airship terminal, Oscar felt a bit more confident about the journey ahead, thanks to his chance meeting with Pyrrha Nikos.
