A young man of about sixteen years old at a height of six feet in height was walking into a dojo. He had medium length azure-blue hair, striking azure-blue eyes, and claw mark scars covering the left half of his face. His attire consisted of an azure-blue gi with a black belt. At his hip was a daishō consisting of a katana with a sixty-centimeter-long blade and a wakizashi with a forty-centimeter-long blade. Walking up to a group of people around his age and an elderly man of about five feet tall who appeared to be in his late seventies to early eighties with short graying blue hair, a short graying blue beard, and using a cane, the young man bowed to the elderly man.
"Hello, master." The young man greeted the elderly man cordially.
"Hello, Azura. I trust you're ready." The elderly man replied with a smirk.
The young man, now identified as Azura, nodded at this and drew his katana. As he did, four other students each dressed in a similar gi, a girl with amber eyes and auburn hair, a girl with dark haired girl with green eyes, a tall boy with silver colored hair and eyes and a silver wolf tail, and a girl with sapphire blue hair and silver colored eyes who looked a lot like the boy, but with sapphire blue wolf ears instead of a wolf tail, walked forward with their own weapons drawn. The first two wielded swords, the boy had an ōdachi, and the third girl manifested twin swords made of sapphire blue Aura. Dropping into a ready stance, Azura watched as his fellow students began to circle him like sharks. Trying to keep at least two of them in his sights at a time, Azura made sure to not leave himself with any openings.
Finally, the other four students charged in at him, blades at the ready. Blocking a slash from the auburn-haired girl student, Azura dodged a slash from the green-eyed girl and blocked a slash from the tall boy's ōdachi before pushing the wielder back. Dodging a set of double-bladed slashes from the last girl's Aura blades, Azura launched a kick at the senior student's side, taking her by surprise and knocking her back. Knowing that he could not afford to hold back, Azura closed his eyes. Soon, he began to glow as an azure-blue lightning-like aura began to come off him, growing with intensity as time went on.
The other three students smiled at this as the silver haired boy spoke up. "Not holding back, huh?"
Azura nodded at this, eyes still shut. "Against you four, I can't afford to."
Finally, the aura reached its peak as Azura opened his eyes, which had now turned electric blue. Readying his sword, Azura looked around at the other four students. They all had much more cautious looks on their faces as they began circling him again. Taking off at the auburn-haired girl, Azura was on her right of way and connected with a knee to her stomach that knocked the breath out of her. Dodging a slash from the green-eyed girl, Azura spun on his heel and kicked her aside.
Slashing with his blade, Azura knocked the auburn-haired girl back and was forced to dodge a massive slash from the tall boy. Jumping aside to dodge the blade, Azura blocked a slash from the silver eyed girl. Blocking slash after slash from the silver eyed girl, Azura broke her guard and kicked the girl backwards. Azura was then forced to block a blow from the tall boy, rushing in close as sparks came off their blades.
The tall boy smirked as Azura got in close. "Not bad, Azu."
Azura smiled and pushed back against him. "Just getting warmed up, Sylver."
Getting in close, Azura kicked the tall boy, now identified as Sylver, in the knee to knock it out from under him, bringing him down to one knee. However, the silver haired boy quickly recovered and reached out to grab Azura, forcing him to jump over the boy and lash down at him with a kick. The tall boy blocked the kick and pushed Azura off, which Azura used to his advantage to allow him to gain some distance. Azura was then forced to dodge an attack from the auburn-haired girl, twisting around her and kicking her in the back with a roundhouse kick.
The azure-blue haired boy then jumped aside to dodge another attack from the green-eyed girl. Blocking a slash from Sylver, Azura then deflected the slash and connected with a rising knee to the boy's chin. This threw the boy off balance as he stumbled back. Blocking twin slashes from the blue haired girl, he dropped down and lashed out with a low sweeping kick, forcing her to jump over it. This left her wide open to a rising slash from Azura's katana, forcing her to block with her Aura swords.
The sapphire blue haired girl grinned a bit and spun in midair to land on her feet. "You've gotten better, Azura."
Azura smiled back at her. "You too, Sapphire."
The azure-blue haired boy charged in at her and slashed with his blade at the maximum strength he could at the current level of his Semblance, the blade collided against the blades of the Aura swords with a clang. Lashing out with a kick, Azura caught Sapphire off guard and hit her in the side, forcing her to drop one sword arm down to block. However, this opened her up for Azura to break her one-bladed guard and slash down at her, leaving her with no choice but to roll aside.
Tracking the other two girls with his eyes, Azura jumped over them to avoid twin slashes from them. Slashing down with his sword in midair, Azura forced one of the girls to block his attack. Landing on his feet, Azura pivoted on his heel to avoid a stab from Sylver. He then jumped back to avoid slashes from Sapphire, dodging a slash from the green-eyed girl and kicking her in the gut to knock her back only to take a kick from Sylver that knocked him back.
Smiling, Azura rolled onto one knee and caught his breath. Even though he knew he shouldn't, he was enjoying this. The adrenaline rush of combat, the impact of dishing out and taking hits. He couldn't help but feel his blood boil in excitement at the challenge of facing strong opponents in non-lethal combat. It was absolutely thrilling to him.
Rushing in, Azura slashed at the green-eyed girl, forcing her to block with her blade and forcing her to one knee. Lashing out with a kick, Azura knocked her back, sending her tumbling. Jumping back, Azura dodged a downward punch from Sylver that cracked the ground where he was once standing. Backflipping, Azura leaped over a stab from the auburn-haired girl, landing behind her and slashing her in the back. The force of the hit sent her skidding forward and out of the ring.
Getting up, the auburn-haired girl glared as she went back to sit with the observing students while sheathing her blade. "Lucky shot…" She grumbled.
Azura smiled before his expression turned serious, his attention on the other three students. The green-eyed girl, Sylver, and Sapphire were much more on guard now, having not taken the fight completely seriously due to their numbers advantage. Now, however, they weren't going to be holding back. Which meant that Azura needed to be much more careful now.
Gripping his blade tighter, Azura felt himself start shaking. Whether in excitement or anticipation, he did not know. It could have easily been both. Smiling, Azura started pushing his Semblance higher, the glow coming off him growing brighter as the lightning-like aura expanded and grew more intense. He could not afford to take them lightly now that they were getting serious.
The green haired girl charged in first, leading the attack as Sapphire and Sylver followed behind her. Azura dodged under her slash and punched her hard in the gut. The force of the blow drove the breath from her lungs and knocked her back as Azura dodged under a slash from Sylver and blocked two slashes from Sapphire. Pushing Sapphire away, Azura charged in and went on the attack against the green-eyed girl, slashing with his blade. Lifting her blade, the green-eyed girl barely blocked it as Azura rushed in at her. Kneeing her in the stomach, Azura doubled her over his knee and slammed his elbow down onto her back, dropping her to the ground.
Azura then tried to deliver an axe kick to the back of her head, forcing her to roll out of the way as his kick cracked and broke the ground. Jumping aside, Azura dodged a powerful slash from Sylver before spinning around Sapphire as she went for a double-bladed stab and spin kicking her aside. Charging in at the dark-haired girl, the azure swordsman slashed at her and forced her to duck under it. However, the slash was a feint. In reality, that was what Azura wanted.
Spinning on his heel, Azura kicked her in the face with all his might, sending her flying out of the ring and into the arms of a taller male student. The girl growled in frustration at being taken by surprise like that but quickly calmed down and sat down to watch the rest of the spar. Azura looked out at his remaining opponents. Sylver and Sapphire, the twins. Azura knew that this would be difficult since he had never beaten them two-on-one before. The two had perfect teamwork to the point where they could almost read each other's minds, working together like a well-oiled machine. They had gained a reputation among the community and dojo as the ultimate tag team.
Gripping his blade, Azura felt himself trembling more. This time, he knew that he was definitely trembling with excitement. With the other two out of the way, now the real challenge began. He knew that these two, without anyone to get in the way of their twin synergy, would be able to give him a real fight.
Readying his blade, Azura was on his guard as the twins began circling him again. This time, Sapphire made the Aura swords disappear and manifested a naginata in their place. Spinning the energy pole arm, she smiled at him as they prepared to fight. Hearing knuckles crack behind him, Azura knew that the twins were about to get serious.
Azura smiled playfully, trying to contain his excitement. "Now that the warmups are done, how about we start the main event?" Azura asked the twins.
Sylver smirked at that and gripped his ōdachi. "You read our minds." The taller of the twins replied.
Sapphire grinned at this. "Now that it's just the three of us, we don't have to hold back even a little." She said, gripping her Aura naginata.
"I don't think so, brats!" The old master called out, making them look at him in confusion.
"But gramps-" Sylver started only to be cut off by the old man.
"I've seen enough. He's ready. Besides, if you three fight all out, you'll bring the whole dojo down around us." The old man told them firmly.
Sapphire sighed and made her energy naginata disappear. "Yes, grandpa Yūri…" She replied, pouting a bit only to take a whack on the head from her grandfather's cane.
"That's Master, Old Master Yūri, or Sensei in the dojo, Sapphire! You know that!" The old master, now identified as Yūri, told her firmly.
"Yes, Sensei…!" Sapphire grumbled, rubbing the sore spot on her head.
Nodding, Yūri then walked up to Azura, who sheathed his katana and bowed to his teacher. "You did well, Azura. I'd say you're more than ready for Beacon." The old man told him.
Azura smiled and looked up at his mentor. "Thank you, Sensei." Azura replied happily.
Yūri nodded at Azura in acknowledgement. "You're dismissed, Azura." The old master said.
Bowing again, Azura turned and left the dojo and began to head home. Smiling as he did, Azura began to contemplate what he had been told. His sensei had deemed him ready. He was going to Beacon.
After a while, Azura made it home and opened the door, taking his sandals off at the door. "I'm home!" He called out.
"Azu!" A voice called out as a green and silver blur crashed into Azura, hugging him tightly.
Azura smiled and looked down at the smaller figure hugging him. It was a boy of about twelve years old with silver colored hair and green eyes. One who bore a resemblance to Azura himself. The silver haired boy was wearing a robe that was black in color.
Looking up at Azura, the younger boy gave him the brightest smile you had ever seen. "Hey, big bro. How was the test?" The younger boy asked.
Azura smiled down at his little brother. "I passed. I'll be going to Beacon at the start of the next school year to take Beacon's test." Azura informed him.
The smaller boy grinned excitedly at that. "I knew you would! My awesome big brother's gonna be a Huntsman!"
Azura chuckled at that. "Relax, Argent. I still need to make it into Beacon and pass four years of schooling there." Azura replied.
The boy, now identified as Argent, chuckled as well. "Don't be so modest, bro! There's no way any of them will be able to keep up with you!"
Azura gave Argent a serious look at that. "Argent. What have father and grandfather always told us?" Azura chided him.
Argent sighed at that. "'No matter how good you are, there's always someone better.' I know." Argent replied, quoting their father and grandfather.
Azura smiled at that. "Good. Now where are mother and father?" Azura asked.
Argent smiled again. "Dad's training out back while mom's in the kitchen making lunch."
Azura chuckled at that. "Great. That test really made me work up an appetite."
With that, the two boys headed inside to go help their mother make lunch.
