Chapter 1: chapter one
Once inside his Apartment Lauin places the last of his stuff on the ground, luck had been on his side for the first time ever. After receiving his admission to Memphis university he spent a while looking for a suitable location for him to stay while attending college.
The hostels closer to the university were a bit pricey and money wasn't exactly his closest ally. So he moved to one of the neighborhoods and found a perfect apartment in Whitehaven the rent wasn't that high so he could afford it in addition to being close to his part time job.
Lauin had classes each day starting from 5 in the evening to 9pm in the night. During the day on the other hand he would be working in a data center to earn a little money for his rent and survival.
since this was a part time job he started early in the morning at eight and he worked for six hours straight before leaving for the day. It was a nice deal seeing as it provided him with about two hours worth of rest before he had to head out to campus for his lectures.
Saturdays would be the best days for him seeing as he didn't have to go into the office or attend any lectures so it was his pesonal time.
he had moved into Memphis hours earlier making this his first day in his new home, lectures and work would begin two days later on the first week day meaning he had the weekend to get to know the city before he begins work and classes.
however as he was taking the last of his stuff inside the apartment the sky was filled with shooting stars and explosions which was normally a sign that the heroes were dealing with something big in space.
this also meant it was none of his business so he chose to go into the apartment until all that stuff is done with, If for some unknown reason some danger manages to bypass the heroes atleast he will be safer inside his apartment than out of it.
a few pieces of debris were making their way down though and as he was walking a massive octagonal crystal the size of a tennis ball landed before him, the crystal seemed multilayered and extremely good looking.
Lauin didn't know what it was but he was certain it could be worth some money if he sold it later on so he picked it up and continued on inside, once inside he placed the crystal on his study table right next to his laptop and phone after that he spent the rest of the day organizing his apartment as the heroes dealt with the rest of the threats.
Late in the evening as he was having dinner the special news broadcast was passed, our heroes had fought against the debris of a cosmic being known as a celestial that was making it's way down to earth after the celestial was defeated in orbit.
the department of damage control urges citizens to report all sightings of this celestial debris as it is highly dangerous and could most likely lead to people killing themselves should they attempt to tamper with it.
any celestial technology surrended into any branch of damage control would be rewarded with a monetary reward equivalent to the technology brought in.
after seeing that Lauin thought about the crystal he had brought in, the crystal was still on his work table and it was glowing while refracting the evening light of the setting sun. Depsite it's beautiful appearance he chose to take it in the next day, Lauin had never been one to break the rules or go seeking trouble.
he always followed the status quo and things seemed to work themselves out in the end, as he approached his laptop to check on the progress he was making with his side project aka his new software idea he had been developing, something strange happened.
during his final year in high school he started developing his little software whose main purpose would be signal amplification, he wanted to use it as his final year project later on, weeks ago he had started laying the basic code for the program however as he looked at it now, the program was halfway done with the coding process and was left with a few final parts before execution and beta testing.
that scared him as it would seem the program advanced itself without his involvement, he chose to go through the source code to check and see just how this could be possible.
this was months worth of work and it had been completed in the few days it took him to travel from Masaka Uganda to Memphis Tennessee, in the United States.
as he went through the code line by line he was shocked, the code was solid and to make matters worse it wasn't just solid it was much better than what he would have written.
now Lauin was a genius when it came to computer based work, that was the reason he had recieved a fully paid scholarship to Memphis university for the computer science course.
but this code was leagues above anything he had ever seen and this is coming from a person who used to compete with students from MIT when he was still in high school.
it took him alot of time to go through the code and by the end he was certain that if there was anyone capable of executing code this advanced, that individual would be either the smartest man or woman alive.
If not that this code must have been written by an Artificial intelligence leagues above anything that currently existed on earth.
and that's saying something seeing as Earth already possesses advanced technology, at the end of the review he chose to shut down the computer and try to find experts to check through his computer for any signs of interference the next day.
he goes to bed and picks up his phone to call his family just to let them know he arrived just fine despite the little alien incident.
the family was highly against sending him to the states because of the massive cases of superhero incidents allover the country, he had recieved several invitations from universities allover the country but they chose Memphis because it wasn't as populated with heroic accidents as the rest of the locations where they had recieved scholarships.
as he picked up his phone he realized there was something different about it, the phone's operating system was different, now Lauin didn't have a fake phone.
he had recieved a Stark Smart phone along with his admission so he was certain his phone was top of the line, regardless his phone seemed to have been advanced, it still looked the same on the outside however as he opened it, the phone was almost intuitive as it would react to his actions before he even touched the screen, it was like the phone was sensing him and acting on it's own.
now for him to call uganda he needed to use alot of credit however as he called the phone didn't prompt him like it usually did for long distance calls, however it just went through directly and throughout the call he didn't experience the delay period that comes with long distance calls, it was like he was sharing the same cell tower as the person he was calling.
when he was done he realized that he hadn't even used a portion of his credit, things were becoming weird but he decided maybe he is seeing things weirdly because it was his first day and all that.
he then chose to rest up as he prepared for the next day, he laid in his bed to rest and as he did that the last strange thing happened that assured him he wasn't experiencing first day jitters and that something really was wrong with him,
The little crystal he had brought in with him was still glowing in the dark even after the lights were turned off and it was dark outside. He rose up and picked up the crystal, it was warm to the touch and it was heating up even more, suddenly the crystal exploded with light that started merging with him.
he didn't even truly understand what he was experiencing, his body had gone numb to the point that he felt nothing that was happening to him, in fact it was like he wasn't in his body at all.
in his mind he experienced a barage of information to the point he was certain his brain would melt from his ears, the information expended over millions of years and all of it was flowing into Lauin's mind giving him a headache.
he didn't even understand how he was having a headache when he couldn't even feel his head at all, the worst thing was that he couldn't even pass out as he was practically already passed out.
