Chapter 17: Unicorn Glade
Alicia's eyes widened in wonder. "Ancient magic? What do you mean?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.
Selina leaned in, her voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "I mean that this place is a remnant of a long-lost civilization, one that harnessed the power of magic to create a sanctuary of wonder."
Alicia's mind raced with questions, but before she could ask any of them, Selina continued, "And as for how it works, well, that's a secret only the unicorns know." Selina muttered softly, a sly grin spreading across her face as she glanced at Alicia, knowing her sister's lifelong wish to see a unicorn.
Alicia's eyes widened with excitement, her heart skipping a beat at the mention of unicorns. "Unicorns?" she whispered, her voice trembling with anticipation. "Are you serious, Selina? Are there really unicorns here? I hope this isn't one of your tricks!"
Selina gave a soft nod, her finger crossed. "I promise, no tricks, little sis! I would never tease you."
Alicia's eyes sparkled like a child experiencing the joy of chocolate for the first time. "You mean there are unicorns really here, as we speak?!"
Selina burst out laughing, her eyes shining with amusement. "Hahaha, sister, you are really funny! Yes, the unicorns are here, and they are the most magnificent creatures you will ever lay eyes on!"
As they walked, Selina rested her hand on Alicia's shoulder. Alicia's face lit up with wonder, her voice bubbling over with excitement. "Unicorns?! Oh my goodness, I've always dreamed of seeing one! Are they friendly? Can I touch them? Can I feed them?"
Selina chuckled again, her eyes sparkling with happiness. "Yes, yes, and yes! The unicorns here are gentle and kind, and they love meeting new people. They'll nuzzle you, snuggle you, and even give you a ride on their backs if you ask nicely!"
Alicia squealed with delight, her hands clapping together in joy. "This is the most amazing thing ever! I feel like I'm in a fairy tale!"
Selina smiled, her eyes sparkling with happiness. "You are, little sis, you are. And it's only the beginning. Come, let me introduce you to the unicorns."
Alicia stood still, her hands folded on her chest. "I'm not a little girl anymore, Selina. I'm a teenager."
Selina looked at her with a gentle smile. "We know, but you'll always be my little sister, and I'll always treat you with love and care, can we be going now."
Alicia nodded, and they continued walking with Selina leading the way. But soon, they reached a dead end. Selina walked forward and placed her hand on a stone, and to Alicia's surprise, the wall began to separate, revealing a bright light. Alicia shielded her eyes, wondering if the wall was going to collapse, but instead, it slowly opened, revealing a passage.
"Can we continue our journey now?" Selina asked, turning to Alicia.
"Okay, but first, you have to promise to tell me how you discovered all of this later," Alicia replied.
Selina nodded, and Alicia said, "Let's go! I'm excited to meet the unicorns!"
Selina grinned mischievously. "I knew you would be! Come on, let's go!"
As they walked through the passage, they found themselves back in the forest. The trees grew taller, and the path grew narrower. Alicia could feel the magic in the air, and her heart raced with excitement. Suddenly, she heard a noise coming from the bushes to her left, then again from her right. She looked at Selina, wondering if she was the only one hearing the sounds.
But before she knew it, the sounds came from the front, and a beautiful unicorn emerged from the trees. Its coat shimmered white, and its mane was rainbow-colored with a golden horn. Alicia gasped in wonder.
"Wow!" she exclaimed. "It's so beautiful!"
Selina chuckled. "I told you they were magnificent! This is Luna, the leader of the unicorns. She's friendly."
Luna walked forward, allowing Alicia to touch her. Alicia looked at Selina, who gave her a go-ahead nod. As Alicia nuzzled the unicorn, she felt a surge of happiness.
"Hi, Luna!" she said, stroking the unicorn's mane.
Selina smiled. "Luna loves making new friends, just like the others." She turned around, pointing to the bushes on her right. "Those ones over there," she said.
Alicia followed her gaze and saw another white unicorn emerging from the bushes. "This is Sparkle," Selina said, and Alicia understood why - the unicorn's horn looked like a crystal, sparkling with a golden mane.
Selina turned to her left, pointing to another set of bushes. "And that's Zephyr," she said, as a black unicorn with a white mane and horn emerged.
Alicia looked at Zephyr in shock, having never seen a black unicorn before.
"Surprised, right?" Selina asked with a chuckle.
"Yeah, I've never seen a black unicorn before," Alicia replied, still in shock.
"Don't worry about that; there are all different types and colors of unicorns out there," Selina explained.
"In the meantime, Zephyr and Sparkle are here to be chosen by their new owner."
"New owner?" Alicia asked.
"Yeah, which is you. Luna's owner is me, so you're left to choose," Selina replied.
"Oh," Alicia said as she heard a male voice in her head.
"Your sister is right; you have to choose between me and Sparkle."
Alicia turned to look at Zephyr with wide eyes. 'How is it possible for me to hear the voice of a unicorn?' she thought.
"Hey, that's cheating, Zephyr. Let her pick before you communicate with her," Sparkle said in her head.
"Sorry, Alicia. It's possible for us to talk to you because you are a Guardian. I guess someone forgot to tell you about that," Sparkle explained.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell her, Sparkle," Zephyr said.
"Wait, how do you guys know I'm a Guardian? And how is it possible for you to talk to me?" Alicia asked, looking at Sparkle.
"Through telepathy, the ability to talk to anyone in their minds or thoughts," Zephyr replied.
"Yeah, Zephyr is right. It's easier for us because you are a Guardian. We know Lucian, and he has already told you," Sparkle added.
"Girl, you have to know more about your Guardian abilities," Zephyr said with a roll of his eyes.
"Yeah, Alicia, you need to learn more about your Guardian abilities," Sparkle said, giving Zephyr a hard gaze.
"Can someone try to be polite for once?" Sparkle said to Zephyr.
"Fine, do what you want," Zephyr said.
"You can have Sparkle Alicia. I don't care anyway," he added before walking away, leaving the rest behind.
Alicia felt bad for the poor unicorn, but he was too rude for her to feel much sympathy.
"That's great, Alicia! You got yourself Sparkle! Sweet," Selina said with joy on her face.
"Would you like to go for a ride with me?" Selina asked. Alicia looked at Sparkle before moving her gaze back to Selina.
"Yeah, I would love to," she replied.
Selina helped Alicia climb onto Sparkle's back, and they set off through the forest, the wind blowing through Alicia's hair.
"Since you haven't ridden a horse or a unicorn before, I'll be here to help you experience how to ride them. Eventually, you'll learn to ride on your own," Selina said to Alicia.
"Thank you, Selina," Alicia replied. As they rode, Selina told Alicia about the different types of unicorns that lived in the forest, each with their own unique magic. Alicia listened, entranced, feeling like she was in a dream.
After a while, they came to a clearing, and Alicia saw the most beautiful sight she had ever seen: a group of unicorns, all different colors, playing and laughing together.
"Wow!" she exclaimed.
"This is amazing!" Selina grinned.
"Welcome to the Unicorn Glade, Alicia" she grinned.
As they slowed down, Alicia caught sight of Zephyr in the corner, heading towards the waterfall side. She felt a pang of curiosity and wondered what he was up to.
"Selina, look! Zephyr's going towards the waterfall," Alicia said, pointing in his direction.
Selina followed her gaze and nodded. "Ah, yes! He must be going to get a drink or cool off. Unicorns love the waterfall's magic," she explained.
Alicia watched as Zephyr disappeared behind the falling water in the distance, his black coat glistening in the sunlight. She didn't believe what Selina had said about Zephyr.
She needed to find out what was going on with him, but how? Turning to her sister, who was helping her down, she said, "Selina, I want to explore this place just like you suggested earlier. I want to understand why they call it the Isle of Wonder."
Selina raised an eyebrow as she watched Alicia walk toward the waterfall in the distance, deciding to take the shortcut. 'Hmm, maybe she really does want to explore this place,' Selina thought.
"Come on, let's go, Sparkle. Let's meet the others," she said, nuzzling the unicorn as they turned to head back.
