Server 1157

Chapter 23: New world

When Luca opened his eyes, he saw that he was in a dark room. In a few seconds, his eyes, accustomed to the darkness, were now beginning to present him with a dim view. Trying to take a quick look around, Luca realized that this was the inside of a shrine. However, what bothered him was that the inside of this shrine was in ruins. Statues, covenants, inscriptions… They were all vandalized and smashed.

Although, one of these shattered structures caught Luca's attention because this partially shattered statue in the middle of the room was emitting a faint beam of light around it.

When Luca went to this broken statue and touched it to examine it, he had a development that surprised him. Twenty centimeters across from his face, a gray screen appeared, resembling the status window in computer games.

Trying to understand the situation by frowning, Luca first tried to reveal a keypad by touching the screen, but because the screen was transparent, his hand passed through the screen. He tried the same thing a few more times, but when he failed again and again, he began to think and remembered the stranger's words.

"LU…" He paused for a moment and shouted again. "VatoLuca!"

"What is this?" Since he had just come to this world, he did not know the rules of the system, so he could not make sense of the last warnings.

According to the rules, new players who were forcibly teleported to this world first woke up in the shrine of an alliance. And in this way, they immediately entered under peace protection and could become members of this Alliance. So this setup was a kind of newbie protection of the System. However, he was deprived of this special treatment as the Alliance Vato was teleported to had been destroyed a few hours ago. He wasn't exactly unlucky though, because the energy of the main statue, the only being that fueled this shrine's power, hadn't been completely extinguished, so he could at least get a peace treaty.

Then the status window went off, and then the dim light of the broken statue completely disappeared.

Vato came out of the shrine, realizing that there was no point in waiting any longer in this completely darkened room.

He shuddered as he saw the surroundings of the shrine located in the center of the Keep. Ground, the walls of the buildings... there was blood everywhere. And corpses… He noticed that there were close to 10 corpses in this main square of the Keep.

Although he didn't know where he was going, he quickly started to run. He wanted to find his wife Yolimar as soon as possible, but for now, he had to find a living member of this alliance and get help from him first, as he was like a stranger in this world. Also, for the time being, the clothes he was wearing were casual clothes belonging to his own world, and he had no weapons. So he was completely defenseless.

He entered every street he came across, breaking down every closed door and checking inside. He knew that it was risky to make such striking moves in such a situation, but he thought that the risk of dying in a possible enemy that would appear was more. Therefore, he felt that he desperately needed to act quickly.

However, in every house he entered, he found several new corpses, and he was growing more and more anxious with each passing minute. Someone had launched a bloody attack on this alliance and he didn't even know if the danger was still there. He could have continued his way more confidently by picking up one of the swords of the dead, but for now, he still felt like a civilian and would not fight unless he had to.

And he stopped abruptly in the hall of the house he had last entered because he felt a movement. A creaking sound could be heard from the upper floor of the house, in which there was a corpse in the living room. He hesitated for a moment whether to go there because there might be an enemy. Still, he made a quick decision and took the candlestick on the side fireplace for self-defense, rushing upstairs.

When he reached the top floor, he saw only one door and tried to run to open it, but it was locked. The wooden doors of this medieval house were not a difficult obstacle for him, he gave a hard kick and broke the door. And then he made eye contact with the person standing in front of him, dropping the candlestick in his hand with the effect of his shock.

"L…" The woman, anxiously but confidently waiting with a stick in her hand to attack the stranger who had entered the room stammered. "Luca…!" Even a child could see the sudden happiness in her eyes.

"My love…" Surprisingly seeing his beloved wife Yolimar, for whom he had come to this world, Vato replied in a relaxed and soft tone of voice.
