Chapter 12: Finale Cliffhanger
Chapter12: Finale Cliffhanger
---
The world hung in a delicate balance. Liana stood at the center of it all, the Heart pulsing in her hands, its light flickering like a heartbeat, fragile and fleeting. The Abyss loomed around them, its dark tendrils reaching out as if trying to crush them in its embrace. The creature before her, an embodiment of the void itself, towered over them, its unsettling whispers pressing against her mind, threatening to unravel everything she had fought for.
But Liana stood firm. She was not going to fall.
"We will stop you," Liana said, her voice filled with a quiet, unwavering determination. "The Heart is mine to wield. And it will heal Aurelion, no matter the cost."
The creature's form shuddered, as if laughing without sound. Its eyes—if they could be called eyes—glowed a sickly green, burning with an ancient hunger. "You misunderstand, child," it rumbled, the voice like the scraping of stone. "The Heart is not a gift. It is a curse. And you are its final heir. You cannot escape its will, no matter how hard you fight."
The ground trembled beneath them, the very air warping, distorting, as if the world itself was on the verge of breaking apart. Liana's heart raced, the Heart's energy crackling through her veins, urging her forward, but there was a terrible sense of foreboding. The creature's words were more than just empty threats—they were a warning.
Behind her, Cassandra and Rook were ready, weapons drawn, their eyes set with grim resolve. They knew what was coming. They had all felt it—the growing tension, the impending doom. They couldn't stop the inevitable. Not alone.
The Abyss stretched open beneath them, a massive rift forming in the earth, swirling with dark energy. The creature loomed closer, its form shifting like liquid shadow, an unstoppable force drawing nearer.
"Liana, listen!" Cassandra shouted, her voice urgent. "It's not just the Heart we're dealing with here. There's something more. Something we haven't seen yet."
Before Liana could react, the ground cracked, and a surge of black energy shot upward, slamming into her chest with an overwhelming force. The Heart in her hands flared bright, and for a moment, everything went white.
When the light faded, the creature was gone, swallowed by the darkness of the Abyss.
Liana gasped for air, her heart pounding in her chest, but the danger had not passed. The rift in the ground spread wider, the sky above them tearing apart in jagged, violent shards.
A voice—familiar and cold—echoed from the depths of the Abyss, a presence that froze her blood.
"You cannot escape what is already coming, Liana."
It was Eryx. His voice, unmistakable.
Before she could even comprehend what was happening, a massive figure emerged from the rift—Eryx, but not the man she had known. He was different now. Darker. The very air around him crackled with destructive energy, his eyes glowing with an otherworldly fire.
Liana's breath caught in her throat. He had been more than just an enemy—he had been the key to unlocking the Abyss, and now he had become its harbinger.
"You chose to wield the Heart," Eryx said, his voice cold, void of humanity. "But you were never meant to control it, Liana. The Heart will tear you apart. And I will be the one to see it done."
Liana took a step back, her grip tightening on the Heart, but before she could react, a blinding flash of light erupted from the rift. The very ground beneath them shattered as the light consumed everything around them.
In the chaos, Liana felt herself being pulled, dragged toward the rift, her body weightless, as if the very fabric of time and space was collapsing around her. Desperate, she reached out to Rook, to Cassandra, but their figures were lost in the shifting darkness, their voices distant echoes.
Her fingers brushed against the edge of the rift—and then everything went dark.

The cliffhanger leaves everything in chaos. Liana has made her choice, but now it's clear that the Heart, and the power it grants, might be far beyond her control. Eryx, transformed into something far darker, is poised to bring ruin to everything. As the rift tears apart the world, the fate of Aurelion, and Liana herself, hangs in the balance.
