Chapter 102: The Call to Atlantis
The air was tense as Mengi stood before the group in the grand hall of the Free World, his imposing figure illuminated by the faint glow of lanterns scattered across the chamber. His tone was grave, urgency dripping from every word as he addressed Jin, Seiji, Shenlog, Madagascar, and Jingwei.
"We don't have time," Mengi declared, his deep voice echoing through the hall. "The Shadow Council is relentless, and if we delay, the Resurrection Project will be unstoppable. We must find Atlantis before they do. The key to everything lies there—its history, its power, its secrets."
Jin's gaze was heavy, his mind racing with the weight of Mengi's words. He clenched his fists, still grappling with the revelations about his family and his destiny. Seiji, leaning casually against a pillar, smirked. "So, Atlantis, huh? Lost city of legends, huh? I didn't take you for the treasure-hunting type, Mengi."
Mengi ignored Seiji's quip. "My search for Atlantis wasn't in vain," he continued. "I've pieced together fragments of knowledge. The God Hunters family used to travel to Atlantis in ancient times. Their methods could be our way in. But to access it, we'll need to trace their steps and use their techniques."
All eyes turned to Seiji. He raised his eyebrows, amused. "The God Hunters, my illustrious ancestors," he said with a chuckle. "It's been 80 years since I've even thought about home , let alone what they did to reach Atlantis. I can't remember a thing, and I don't have a clue where to start."
Mengi's expression remained firm. "Are you willing to take us back to your roots? To rediscover what your family knew?"
Seiji's smile widened. "The world's about to get destroyed. Hell yeah, I'll take the trip."
Mengi nodded and turned to the rest of the group. "This mission will be dangerous, but it's necessary. Who's in?"
Shenlog stepped forward, his presence radiating authority. "I can't join you. The Free World needs protection, and I'll remain here to ensure its safety." His dragon-like eyes flickered with determination as he placed a reassuring hand on Jin's shoulder. "Bring Atlantis back, and with it, the hope we need."
Seiji straightened, stretching his arms dramatically. "Well, that's settled. Madagascar, Jin, and I will take this mission alongside you, Mengi."
Madagascar's monkeys, Ma and Pa, exchanged looks before nodding. "This should be fun," Madagascar said with a grin, adjusting his staff on his shoulder. Jin remained silent but resolute, his thoughts a whirlwind of anticipation and doubt.
The scene shifted to the bustling port, where mechanical cranes hummed and towering airships loomed like leviathans. Workers moved with precision, their shouts blending into the rhythmic clanging of metal and the hiss of steam-powered engines. The group stood at the base of a sleek, silver flying ship, its exterior gleaming under the bright glow of artificial lights.
The pilot, a tall man with goggles strapped to his head and a weathered face, greeted them with a nod. "You're clear for takeoff. Coordinates locked in. You're heading into uncharted territory, so stay sharp."
Seiji led the way up the ramp, his lighthearted demeanor masking his readiness for the journey. Madagascar followed, Ma and Pa chattering animatedly on his shoulders. Mengi and Jin brought up the rear, their faces set with quiet determination. Jin glanced back at the Free World one last time, the weight of their mission heavy on his shoulders.
Inside the ship, the crew settled into their seats as the pilot made the final preparations. The hum of the engines grew louder, the vibrations resonating through the floor. With a shudder, the ship began to ascend, its metallic hull slicing through the air like a blade.
Jin watched through the window as the ground below grew smaller, the sprawling cityscape of the Free World fading into a patchwork of lights and shadows. As the ship leveled out in the sky, Seiji leaned back in his seat, lacing his fingers behind his head.
"Well," he said, smirking at Jin, "hope you're ready for an adventure. Finding a lost city isn't exactly a walk in the park."
Jin gave a faint smile, his resolve growing stronger. "I'm ready."
The ship soared into the vast expanse of the sky, leaving the Free World behind. The journey to Atlantis had begun.
