Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Pop The Champagne!
SLAP—
Leon clapped his hands, "OK, I'm done here."
Principal Wilson stood up.
"Well, the interview is over, you two. I hope your future life remains full of happiness. The assessment results will be sent to the Silver Dragon Sanctuary via messenger dragon tomorrow. Thank you again for your cooperation."
———
Early morning. Luna woke up, her little head not fully booted up yet, mumbling vaguely,
"Sis... what's for breakfast..."
No response.
"Sis?"
Luna slowly opened her eyes and found that Noah had already gotten up.
Startled, she jumped out of bed, ran to the bathroom, study, and hallway but couldn't find Noah anywhere.
Finally, she went to the balcony and looked down at the courtyard, where she finally spotted Noah.
At that moment, Noah wasn't alone in the courtyard; Leon and Rossweise were standing on her left and right sides.
The three of them stood like scarecrows, looking up at the sky at a forty-five-degree angle, motionless.
Luna scratched her head in confusion. "Is this a new game of freeze tag...?"
Mumbling, she got dressed, tidied her hair, and jogged downstairs.
In the courtyard, she first stood in front of Leon and asked,
"Dad, what are you doing?"
"Waiting for the messenger dragon."
"Eh?"
Luna blinked her pretty eyes and then jumped over to Noah.
"Sis, what are you doing?"
"Waiting for the messenger dragon."
Luna: ?
Small head, big question marks.
Finally, she jumped over to Rossweise.
"Mom, you're not also—"
"Waiting for the messenger dragon."
Luna raised her little hands, pinching her cheeks.
"You're all waiting for the messenger dragon, so who's going to make breakfast for Luna?"
Half an hour later, in the baby room at the dining table, the family of four ate breakfast together.
"Speaking of which, even if the results are out, the messenger dragon probably won't arrive so early in the morning, right?" Leon said.
"The academy has always been efficient. Back when I was in school, I got my results the next morning," Rossweise replied.
Hearing this, Leon looked up at Rossweise across the table. "You graduated from Saint Heath Academy too?"
"Of course."
"Then should Noah call you Mom or Senior?"
"Eat your food."
Sitting at one side of the table, Luna held dragon-specific cutlery, glancing between her mom and dad. Then she muttered,
"Why... does it feel like Dad and Mom got along better after their trip to the academy?"
The couple froze mid-bite and looked at each other.
Leon pressed his lips together. "Really...?"
Luna nodded earnestly. "Yeah, yeah! You never joked during meals before."
"'Don't talk while eating or sleeping.' We're just occasionally joking. Besides, your dad and I have always had a good relationship. Now eat your breakfast, Luna," Rossweise said.
"Okay~"
"I'm done."
Noah set down her utensils and hopped off the chair. "You guys take your time; I'm going back to wait for the messenger dragon."
Seeing this, Leon hurriedly shoveled a few bites of food into his mouth, wiped his lips, and followed suit.
"I'll join you."
Watching her dad and sister rush out, Luna exclaimed, "They're so enthusiastic."
Rossweise patiently cut her bread into small pieces, spread strawberry jam on top, and handed it to Luna.
"Your dad and sister are both very focused on results. Besides, your dad used to be a top student, you know."
All the accolades—enrolled at ten, graduated at fifteen, dragon-slaying champion—Leon nearly printed a banner to stick on Rossweise's door.
Poking the jam-covered bread with her fork, Luna pondered aloud, "Hmmm... when will Dad start teaching Luna to study?"
Rossweise smiled and stroked her daughter's little head. "Soon. Once Luna grows up a little more, you can start learning from Dad."
"Really?" The little dragon's eyes sparkled.
"Really."
"Yay!"
"So, to grow up quickly, Luna has to eat well. Finish your breakfast first."
"Okay!"
Luna dove into her food.
Rossweise smiled warmly, thinking to herself, Leon's parenting tricks are surprisingly effective.
.
.
.
After breakfast, Rossweise took Luna by the hand and returned to the courtyard.
Leon and Noah were already back to staring at the sky, awaiting the messenger dragon.
'Truly, this is the determination of top students. So much perseverance.'
Rossweise waved her hand, asking the maids to prepare tea and snacks.
The family of four ate and waited.
Just like that, they waited until evening, and still, there was no sign of the messenger dragon.
Rossweise sighed lightly. "I'll go make dinner. We can come back after eating."
Turning, she started walking toward the sanctuary.
But before she'd taken a few steps, she heard Leon shout behind her,"The messenger dragon! It's here!"
Noah excitedly chimed in, "Really? It's really the messenger dragon?"
Rossweise turned around.
Sure enough, a messenger dragon was slowly flying toward the sanctuary, finally landing in the courtyard.
The family of four quickly ran over.
A bamboo tube was strapped to the dragon's back.
Leon removed the tube, opened it, and pulled out an envelope.
The envelope was elaborate, navy blue with gold embossing of the name "Melkvei." The seal was red wax, embossed with Saint Heath Academy's crest.
"Dad, hurry and open it." Luna urged impatiently.
Leon nodded, broke the red wax, and opened the envelope.
The letter's contents were simple and clear:
"Dear Noah K. Melkvei, Congratulations on passing our academy's assessment. Please report to our academy in three days to attend the enrollment ceremony."
"WE PASSED, we passed! Sis is amazing! Mom and Dad are amazing too."
Luna hugged Noah and spun around happily.
Leon handed the letter to Rossweise. She read the contents twice, then exhaled with a relieved smile.
She put the letter down, took a deep breath, and exhaled slowly. Then she glanced at Leon and said, "Thank you."
Leon spread his arms. "Thank me for what? It's all thanks to Noah herself; she's really smart."
"Can we drink?" Rossweise suddenly asked.
"Huh? Me?"
She nodded.
"I'm not... great at drinking, but I can try."
"Alright, let's celebrate tonight. I'll cook."
"Okay."
Rossweise carefully put the envelope away and headed toward the sanctuary.
After walking a few steps, she suddenly stopped and turned back to ask,
"Want to help? So you don't say this household has no place for you."
"Mother dragon, I've realized you're really petty."
Leon muttered complaints while eagerly following her.
An hour or so later, dinner was ready.
Rossweise even opened a bottle of vintage wine, saying it was stored when she ascended as the Silver Dragon Queen fifty years ago.
She poured Leon a small amount. "This okay?"
Leon nodded.
Dinner was lavish.
Luna chattered nonstop, planning Noah's future school life.
Rules like not adopting other little dragon girls as sisters, no boys at home—no girls either—and studying hard to graduate and protect Luna.
Noah listened attentively, memorizing every word.
After a few rounds of drinks, the little ones returned to their rooms early for sisterly chats.
Rossweise sat in her chair, her gaze slightly hazy, her face flushed red.
She had drunk quite a lot.
It had been a long time since she'd been this happy.
After resting a bit, she reached for another drink but was stopped by Leon.
"You've had enough, Rossweise."
"What? Concerned about me?" she asked tipsily.
"Who's concerned about you? If you drink too much and can't get up tomorrow morning, who's taking Noah to the academy?"
"What's the big deal? I can fly even if I'm drunk."
Leon sighed. "In the Empire, we're not even allowed to ride horses drunk."
"That's you humans. We dragons don't care..."
Leon stood, helping her up. "I'll take you to the balcony for some fresh air."
