Chapter 16: The Battle of Top Powerhouses

Crouching in the bushes with nothing to do, Chu Yang gazed up at the sky, trying to count the stars. However, the sky was covered with dark clouds, and no stars were visible.

By the third time the clouds obscured the moonlight, Chu Yang's Observation Haki sensed two incredibly powerful auras.

The intensity of the auras shocked Chu Yang to the point where he had to shut off his Observation Haki voluntarily.

At that moment, Tobirama Senju whispered in Chu Yang's ear, "They're here!"

They're here!

Those two simple words made Chu Yang's heart race!

Cautiously, Chu Yang peeked out and finally saw the figure of Hashirama Senju.

Opposite him stood none other than the infamous Madara Uchiha.

As destined rivals, the two of them stared at each other across a small creek.

"Madara, surrender! Let's end this meaningless war together!" Hashirama shouted. "You and I can create a peaceful environment where the children of our clans can live happily and safely."

"You're as naive as ever. Sometimes I envy that about you..." Madara looked at Hashirama with a complex expression, then shook his head and coldly said, "Where is Izuna? Did you kill him?"

Hashirama explained, "He's not dead."

Hearing that his younger brother was still alive, Madara's cold expression softened, and a hint of relief flickered in his eyes.

Madara said, "Hashirama, unless we settle this today, this war will never end. You desire peace, so let our fists decide."

Upon hearing this, Hashirama finally cast away his last bit of hope. He took a deep breath and prepared for battle.

Madara smiled. This was what he wanted to see — Hashirama fighting at full strength. All the previous skirmishes had been mere child's play.

In the next second, the two figures clashed, engaging in a fierce battle.

As Chu Yang observed, he noticed that neither Madara nor Hashirama used much ninjutsu. Most of their combat consisted of taijutsu exchanges.

In battles between top-tier fighters, ninjutsu was executed with such mastery that it no longer required many hand seals or could be simplified to just two or three seals.

Otherwise, the gap created by performing hand seals would be a glaring weakness to the enemy.

So far, Madara had only used Fire Release to assist in the battle, while Hashirama had only employed Wood Release.

But it was this very simplicity that delivered a strong visual impact to Chu Yang.

Gradually... their combat speed surpassed human limits of perception. Chu Yang could only see a blur of movements, unable to discern specific actions.

Noticing Chu Yang's dilemma, Tobirama, who was standing beside him, offered some words of comfort.

There was nothing Chu Yang could do. Unless one possessed a special dōjutsu like the Sharingan or Byakugan, which significantly enhanced vision, it was impossible for ordinary eyes to keep up with the movements of top-tier fighters.

Even though Chu Yang's body had been strengthened by Wood Release, he could only follow the battle for a bit longer than an ordinary person.

The battle between the two spread far and wide, devastating the entire valley. The earth crumbled, trees and flowers were incinerated into ashes, and everything was annihilated.

Chu Yang was in awe, and before he could react, Tobirama grabbed him and swiftly pulled him away from the edge of the battlefield.

Just moments after they left, a massive fireball, the size of a three-story building, crashed onto the spot they had just been standing. The shockwave from the explosion swept the ground clean.

When Chu Yang finally landed, he turned around only to see a charred black landscape. Had he stayed there a moment longer, not even the strongest Wood Release technique could have saved him.

In an instant, cold sweat soaked Chu Yang's back, and he started trembling uncontrollably.

Tobirama chuckled and said, "Did you see that? Even a simple Great Fireball Technique can have different levels of power depending on who uses it."

Chu Yang couldn't help but roll his eyes.

You call that the Great Fireball Technique?

If I didn't know better, I'd think a mushroom cloud just dropped on my head!

Even at a time like this, Tobirama didn't miss the opportunity to lecture the still-shaken Chu Yang. "You're very clever, but your problem is you're too clever. You can learn everything easily, so you try to learn everything. In the end, you'll just be someone who knows a little bit of everything but masters nothing."

Chu Yang didn't deny Tobirama's point, but... he wasn't fighting alone, was he?

With so many shadow clones learning from one another, absorbing each other's knowledge, the problems of an ordinary person wouldn't apply to Chu Yang. The path he was walking was one beyond the imagination and understanding of others.

As the moon in the sky grew brighter, the battle intensified.

The trembling of the ground caught Chu Yang's attention.

He looked up... and saw a massive figure rising from the earth!

A tree giant, over a thousand meters tall, blocked out the moonlight, like an ancient demon god descending upon the battlefield.

Wood Release: Wood Human Technique!

Standing on the shoulder of the wooden giant, Hashirama's face was solemn. The battle had reached its climax. Both sides had revealed their ultimate techniques, and the outcome would be decided now.

Boom!

The wooden giant moved. With each step it took, the entire valley quaked.

In front of the wooden giant, Madara began forming hand seals. The tomoe in his Mangekyō Sharingan spun rapidly.

Madara pushed his ocular power to its absolute limit!

He consumed 90% of his chakra in one go, and blue flames ignited in the air, condensing into the image of a skeletal figure.

As the flames burned brighter, the figure solidified, its skeleton transforming into a fully armored warrior. In the end, it became a colossal warrior clad in samurai armor.

The awe-inspiring warrior was Susanoo. Its size rivaled the wooden giant, and it had wings on its back, with four arms, each wielding a sword.

Under Madara's control, Susanoo moved closer to the wooden giant and was the first to strike with a sword!

The wooden giant reached out, grabbed the energy-formed blade in Susanoo's hand, and forcefully dragged the warrior closer, slamming a massive fist into it.

The clash of the two titans made Chu Yang's blood boil!

"My brother has already won. Madara doesn't have the stamina to maintain Susanoo. His ocular power is nearly at its limit," Tobirama said coldly.

Chu Yang also noticed that as time passed, Susanoo's movements were becoming slower.

In the earlier battles, Madara had accumulated several injuries, while Hashirama, thanks to his exceptional healing abilities, was in much better physical condition.

Having exhausted his body to summon Susanoo, Madara was now like a bow without an arrow!

Tobirama sighed, "How ironic. His current state mirrors that of the entire Uchiha clan!"

With that sigh, the god-like Susanoo crumbled into nothingness!
