Chapter 5: Jinbe of the Sun Pirates
Chu Yang, lost in thought about the future, appeared somewhat dazed. To Tiger, Chu Yang's entire demeanor exuded confusion.
Tiger patted Chu Yang's shoulder and comforted him, "How about this—you come with me first, and then we can figure things out later."
"Where to? Fish-Man Island?" Chu Yang asked in surprise.
"Do you think I can still return to Fish-Man Island?" Tiger chuckled bitterly. "After tonight, I'll probably be wanted by the entire world's navy!"
"In this situation, if I return to Fish-Man Island, it would bring unimaginable disaster upon it."
Chu Yang sighed. "That's true."
Tiger asked, "Would you like to set sail with me?"
The Sun Pirates?
Chu Yang's heart stirred. With nowhere else to go at the moment, he agreed to Tiger's invitation.
The two then sneaked to the port, intending to seize a pirate ship and set sail. Each ship had crew members on watch, but at this hour, they were all resting in the cabins.
Since there were only two of them, and Chu Yang had little sailing experience, Tiger opted for a smaller three-mast ship, easier to manage.
Neither Chu Yang nor Tiger had any qualms about robbing a pirate ship; they saw it as a form of robbing the rich to aid themselves.
After locking onto their target, the two moved to act. There weren't many pirates on a small three-mast ship, and they were no match for Tiger and Chu Yang.
Once they dealt with the lackeys, Tiger was ready to sail away, but a familiar voice interrupted them.
"Brother Tiger, I've been waiting for you. What are you up to?"
Chu Yang and Tiger turned around to see a large group of fish-men standing on the shore, led by a muscular blue figure.
He looked quite familiar…
Wasn't that Jinbe, the "Future Warlord of the Sea"?
Tiger's expression grew serious. He had intended to head to the Holy Land alone to avoid dragging his comrades into danger, but they had followed him regardless.
Seeing the towering flames reflected from above the Red Line, Jinbe surmised that Tiger had accomplished his mission and said, "I can't stop you from rescuing those slaves, but you can't stop us from following you either."
"Jinbe!" Tiger was furious but helpless. He knew Jinbe was fiercely loyal.
"Brother Tiger, even if we can't help much, we can still leave with you!" Jinbe's eyes shone deeply, like the ocean.
"Yeah, Brother Tiger, even if the navy comes after you, they'll have to get through us first!"
"I've long hated those humans—one shows up, I'll take care of one!"
The other fish-men chimed in, rallying support.
Tiger, moved yet knowing he couldn't argue with them, reluctantly agreed to let them join him on this voyage.
"Sorry, young man, it looks like we'll be bringing a few more people with us," Tiger apologized to Chu Yang, knowing the fish-men would likely be hostile toward him.
It was only then that the fish-men noticed Chu Yang, and their expressions turned dark.
Jinbe, although not fond of humans, managed to hold back any direct animosity.
A tall fish-man stepped forward, coldly staring at Chu Yang. "Brother Tiger, who is this boy?"
Tiger stepped in front of Chu Yang and said sternly, "Arlong, he's the one who escaped from Mary Geoise with me. He saved my life."
"He saved you?" A young Arlong wasn't swayed by this revelation, his expression hostile. "Brother, you're not seriously bringing this human kid with us, are you? Who knows if he'll betray us down the road?"
This comment ignited agreement among the fish-men, all expressing their displeasure with Chu Yang being human.
Having faced death once, Chu Yang's mentality had shifted. Faced with such blatant hostility, he coldly gazed at the group.
He could kill prison guards; he could kill these guys too.
"Shut up, all of you!" Tiger uncharacteristically shouted at his comrades, "Do you want me to be as ungrateful as the humans?"
At this, Arlong and the others fell silent, though Arlong continued to glare at Chu Yang with a menacing look.
"You think I'm just some kid you can push around?" Chu Yang sneered to himself. It seemed he would need to put Arlong in his place if he wanted to establish himself in the Sun Pirates.
Sensing the tension, Jinbe stepped in to ease the situation. "Brother Tiger, many of them have suffered at the hands of humans. Their guard is up—please understand."
Tiger sighed. He understood. Even his own goodwill toward humans had eroded. If Chu Yang hadn't saved him, he might have turned a blind eye too.
In this awkward atmosphere, Chu Yang boarded the giant pirate ship along with the fish-men.
Jinbe had prepared the ship in advance.
Tiger personally raised the legendary flag of the Sun Pirates.
Under the night sky, the pirate flag fluttered in the wind as the ship slowly sailed away from the port, heading toward the vast, boundless ocean.
Standing on the deck, Tiger, with a smile, asked Chu Yang for the first time, "What's your name?"
"My name is Chu Yang!" The boy's clear and confident voice echoed in the air.
"A unique name," Tiger remarked, finding it a bit difficult to pronounce but remembering it nonetheless.
After spending some time on the deck, Chu Yang decided to rest. Arlong suddenly volunteered to show Chu Yang to his room.
Tiger, mistakenly thinking the tension between the two had eased, agreed.
Chu Yang, however, smirked coldly, seeing through Arlong's intentions. He was eager to have a "chat" with him too.
Arlong led Chu Yang deep into the ship, bypassing the living quarters and heading straight to the bottom storage hold.
Outside the door, Arlong stopped, turned, and stared coldly at Chu Yang. He sneered, "Human kid, did you really think I was taking you to rest?"
Arlong expected to see Chu Yang panic, but instead, Chu Yang looked at him with amused eyes.
Young Arlong wasn't yet the boss of Cocoyasi Village, and even if he was, he'd still be no match for Chu Yang.
Frustrated that things weren't going his way, Arlong's expression twisted with rage. "Kid, if you know what's good for you, you'll get off this ship now!"
"Too noisy!" Chu Yang raised his right hand, and suddenly, massive tree vines extended from his arm, swelling and enveloping Arlong, rendering him immobile.
The vines tightened around Arlong's body, suffocating him. Terrified, Arlong stared at Chu Yang. "You're... a Devil Fruit user?!"
Chu Yang didn't answer, simply increasing the pressure until Arlong's nose and mouth began to bleed.
His internal organs were taking severe damage!
The agony on Arlong's face made Chu Yang feel a surge of excitement, and a pure smile spread across his face.
Seeing this, Arlong was utterly horrified!
