Chapter 433 432:Gravenstone City
433 432:Gravenstone City
Gravenstone City
Gravenstone City was a city set on a windswept cliffside. It was an immense structure built from ancient, darkened stone, and it was mainly illuminated by ghostly blue torches. The city was usually covered by dark clouds, and once in a while, the sound of thunder and the flash of lightning could be seen.
Fog swirls thickly, clinging to the cliff, and twisting around the city's seven massive metallic chains that extend from the center of the city to the depths of the ground. The chains were coiled around a massive structure at the center of the city, and this massive structure resembled a spear.
Each link of the chains was so wide that fifty elephants could comfortably walk on the chains. Runic etchings that emitted a faint, cold glow could be seen on the surfaces of the chains.
The buildings within were narrow and looming, made from dark basalt carved with arcane symbols that ward off strange creatures that lurk in the fog. Narrow alleyways could be seen in many parts of the city, but most paths were often barricaded with thick iron bars and guard posts manned by hardened fighters.
Every structure possessed thick, shuttered windows to block the endless fog and trap the blue light from the blue torches, creating an eerie, constantly flickering glow across the cityscape.
----
Corey and Selene stood before one of the seven massive chains of Gravenstone City, and the awe and intrigue could not be hidden in their eyes.
They had never seen such massive chains before.
Corey shifted his gaze from the chains, and he looked up, the image of Gravenstone City reflected in his sight despite how high the city was.
He looked away, and then he looked to his left and right with a slight frown. Two hundred meters away from them was a thick fog that emitted a sinister and cold aura.
Corey glanced at the chains, and when he saw the faint glow of the runes on the chains, he knew that the chains were responsible for keeping the fog away.
'What a strange city.'
Corey thought, and then he glanced at Selene who was curiously looking around. She perceived his gaze, and she turned to look at him.'
Corey shrugged. "We'll find out when we reach the city."
Selene looked up, and her expression changed slightly. "It's far."
Corey grinned slightly, "Are you afraid of mountains now?"
Selene scoffed, and without hesitation, she climbed on the chain. "I'm beginning to get sick and tired of mountains."
Corey shook his head slightly, and then he turned to his back. His gaze reflected the image of two docile human-sized reptiles, and he spoke.
"Leave."
The two reptiles immediately obeyed and left without hesitation, seemingly afraid of remaining in Corey's presence for even a second later.
When Corey saw this, he shook his head slightly.
"Why are they so afraid? All I did was use them as jump ropes, and I also killed their friend by stabbing it in the asshole. It's not like I stabbed them."
The two reptiles were the fastest mounts Corey and Selene were able to find on their way to Gravenstone City.
Although they were faster than the mounts, they could not run for days because it would be extremely boring and mentally tiring, even for Corey. However, because they chose to use mounts, it took them four days of constant movement to reach Gravenstone City.
Corey glanced at Selene who was climbing the chain without waiting for him, and he also took a step on the chain.
The instant Corey stepped on the chain, he felt a strange force engulf his body, and a second later, it vanished.
Corey raised his brows, and then he stared at the runes, but he had no knowledge of any of the runes.
'It seems this world uses different runes compared to the outside world,' Corey furrowed his brows slightly, 'I'm also sure they use a different power system compared to us… Do they even have the Universal System?'
Although some might say his thought process was stupid and nonsense, Corey had a feeling that the inhabitants of the shattered dimension had a different power system compared to him who was using the Universal System.
'I wonder if the inhabitants of the shattered dimension know that we're from another world. Will they treat us as outsiders? Will we even be welcomed into the city, or are we going to be imprisoned or attacked from the moment we get close to the city?'

So many thoughts flashed in Corey's mind as he walked on the chain.
'Regardless of what happens, I know that I need information. I need to know more about this world.'
He looked to his left, and then to his right. When he saw the extremely thick fog, he could not help but think of his skill- Fog Manipulation.
'I should be able to manipulate this fog, but… from what I can sense, the fog is not a normal fog. It's mixed with something else.'
After having this thought, Corey decided to focus on the runes of the chain so that he could record them. Even though he might not be able to use it now, or maybe even in the future, he wanted to learn about it.
No knowledge was lost.
Approximately forty-five minutes later, Corey and Selene stood in front of the massive gate of the city.
Corey's eyes contained visible intrigue as he noticed that the city walls were not made out of stone or wood, but of silvery metals, and the walls also had runes. His senses picked up on something, and he looked down, only to be surprised when he perceived the presence of runes even on the ground and beneath the ground.
'Wow.'
That was all Corey could say as he stared at the complex and foreign runes with interest.
Just as Corey was observing the runes, he noticed a presence, and he looked up, at the top of the city wall to be precise.
When he did, his deep violet and sky blue eyes reflected the image of a figure in full-bodied silver armor.
