Skyrim System In Westeros

Chapter 50: Chapter 50: One man army

After several stops, Wright finally emerged from a valley after crossing the Frostfang mountain range. The snowstorm had stopped, and before him lay a vast stretch of flat land. At the far end of the plain, he saw a group of people waiting to greet him, their formation already neatly arranged.

Seven White Walkers rode on skeletal horses, leading thousands of wights, packed closely together in the distance. The humanoid wights held broken weapons and stared at Wright, while animal wights — bears, wolves, and sheep — bared their teeth at him. It was clear they had prepared for his arrival and were waiting to ambush him.

"Shit, it turns out those earlier howls from the White Walkers weren't just taunts. They were communicating through some special magic with other White Walkers. This whole setup is to kill me right here," Wright thought to himself, just as the wights launched their charge.

The Raven perched atop the mountain peak to watch the scene unfold, while Wright remained motionless, standing his ground.

The leaders were all White Walkers, but none had a particularly distinctive appearance. There were no signs of the Night King either, either because he wasn't there or he was hidden within the snow.

The Night King was indeed not there. Using the special abilities of his kind, he could connect with White Walkers from all across the North. The day before, a White Walker out on a hunt for bodies had encountered a battle. It called out to the Night King, who, through the Walker's vision, saw a man riding a purple skeletal horse, capable of using ice magic, raising the dead, and wielding various strange powers. The Night King then ordered an ambush to capture Wright for research. If they couldn't capture him, they would at least kill him.

Now, the Night King was observing Wright through the vision of one of his White Walkers.

The White Walkers on horseback did not move but instead ordered the wights to charge.

The animal wights were the fastest, and as they ran, three magic fireballs expanded from behind Wright and flew forward, exploding and shattering the nearest three wolf-shaped wights.

The flat terrain worked against him. The enemy had animal-shaped wights, and they were tireless. Without eliminating them, Wright couldn't escape on horseback. If the wights closed in, he'd be surrounded. Retreating into the valley would limit the battle to one direction.

But Wright also remembered that the wights were undead — if they climbed the mountain and jumped down, they would keep fighting. He would be surrounded again.

Using the valley's terrain to his advantage, Wright planned to wait until the wights gathered together, then unleash a Dragon Roar to kill many at once. But there were so many wights, and he had no idea if reinforcements were coming. Dragon Roar consumed too much mana, and if reinforcements did arrive, he would quickly be drained of energy. Therefore, he decided to focus on killing the White Walkers.

Wright summoned an ice spear and activated the Lightning Cloak spell. Both his body and the spear were surrounded by crackling lightning.

Gathering all the lightning magic into the spear, Wright aimed at one of the White Walkers on horseback, adjusting his stance.

"Hah!" With nearly eight times the strength of an average person, Wright threw the ice spear, which was charged with lightning. Before the White Walker could react, the spear struck it.

The White Walker struck by the ice spear was sent flying off its horse, the force of the spear propelling it through the air. While the ice itself didn't cause much harm to the White Walker, the lightning magic on the spear was relentlessly burning its body, even disrupting its internal magic.

The White Walker screamed in agony mid-air, "Ha\~\~ hiss\~\~", and before it even hit the ground, it shattered into pieces of ice, completely destroyed. The charging wights immediately lost around one-seventh of their numbers, crushed by the oncoming wights behind them.

The combination magic technique learned from the White Walkers was indeed effective! After the White Walker's death, the wights linked to it through magic temporarily lost control until another White Walker could take over the bodies. Wright quickly formed another ice spear, ready to throw, but the remaining six White Walkers had already mounted their horses and hidden behind rocks.

"They even know how to hide. This is going to be troublesome."

Wright mimicked the White Walkers, using ice to form a simple suit of armor over his clothing — protecting his arms, torso, chest, crotch, thighs, lower legs, and shoes with ice armor.

He threw the spear and then conjured a massive two-handed ice greatsword, activating his Lightning Cloak once again, crackling with electricity. He charged toward the wight army, heading toward the places where theWhite Walkers were hiding.

The lightning-infused spear pierced a bear-shaped wight, then continued through the next twenty or so wights before losing its momentum. The wights pierced by the spear were shattered into pieces from the force, with the lightning jumping to set nearby wights on fire. Most of them collapsed within a few steps, creating a small cleared area.

Wright rode his horse, Arvak, and rushed toward the gap. Before the wights could surround him, he hurled an explosive fireball, creating another small opening.

The wights surrounding him didn't show any emotional response to the destruction of their comrades. They were mere puppets, controlled by magic, and would simply keep charging toward Wright wherever he was.

Arvak, the skeletal horse, was not afraid of being killed, but if too badly injured, it would return to its original world. For now, Wright could only keep charging into the wight army, cutting them down with his greatsword and occasionally launching explosive fireballs ahead to clear his path.

Suddenly, three ice spears came flying toward him. Wright hurriedly blocked them, but one spear still pierced his chest, breaking through his ice armor and leaving a wound that bled. Wright was knocked off his horse, crashing to the ground.

"Ah~~" The wights closed in, weapons drawn, but they didn't attack Arvak. Some of them still had a bit of throat left and let out a tearing sound.

Wright quickly rose, swinging his greatsword in wide arcs. The wights' bodies were fragile, and a single swing could cleave through five or six of them at once. After a few sweeping slashes, bones flew in every direction, and the lightning from his sword jumped again. The area around him was cleared in an instant. However, the magic power from the lightning had been exhausted, and there was no longer any electric arcs jumping from the ice sword.

Seizing the moment before the wights could fully encircle him, Wright quickly cast a healing spell to stop the bleeding from his chest wound.

Wright continued to slice through the wights with his sword, but without the support of the lightning magic, the remaining half-bodied wights managed to crawl closer, wielding swords and knives in an attempt to strike at his legs. The ice armor could withstand the attacks from regular wights, but it wasn't indestructible. The wights could only manage to chip off small fragments of the ice armor, but the constant onslaught was wearing him down. Over time, even the ice armor wouldn't hold up.

"Shh~ shh~~" The White Walkers, seeing Wright being surrounded and injured, raised their ice spears as if celebrating his downfall. But suddenly, another ice spear laced with lightning shot through the Ravend of wights, piercing one of the White Walkers and killing it mid-celebration.

"Only five left." This wasn't a game of zombie slaying. The remaining White Walkers had intelligence on par with humans, and his physical stamina and magical power were limited. If Wright didn't take them down quickly, reinforcements would arrive, and he'd be in serious trouble.

Wright decided to stop holding back his magic. Taking advantage of the moment when many wights fell to the ground, he charged toward the remaining White Walkers, running while taking a deep breath.

"Fus~ Ro~~ Dah~~~!"

The force of the shout, capable of knocking down city walls, emanated from Wright's mouth. The wights, with no hearing, continued to march forward, driven by the White Walkers' commands. However, as the magic burst from Wright, the wights still pressed on, unaffected by the sound but caught in the shockwave.

The closest wights to Wright were shattered into fragments, blasted away by the power of the wave.

"Arvak!" The skeletal horse galloped over, and Wright quickly mounted, riding behind the wave of energy as it pushed forward.

The wights in front of him were crushed underfoot, their bodies pulverized as they were pushed forward with the shockwave. The energy continued to surge, unimpeded by any solid obstacles in the open space. The wave traveled nearly a hundred meters before dissipating, carving a wide path through the wight horde. At the end of the path, a pile of wight corpses stood several feet high, a testament to the devastation caused.

"Shh~~ Ha~~" The remaining White Walkers roared in fury.

But Wright was already upon them. The five White Walkers could no longer hide behind rocks, forced to face Wright in direct combat.

He needed to defeat them quickly before the wights behind them closed in. The physical strain of fighting in the icy wasteland was already taking its toll.

The five remaining White Walkers wore ice armor similar to Wright's. They no longer wielded spears but instead brandished ice swords as they charged toward Wright on horseback.

Wright didn't intend to engage them in a sword fight. Raising his left hand, he summoned a magic shield, while his right hand conjured an explosive fireball, hurling it directly at one of the White Walkers, instantly killing it.

The downside of fire magic was its lack of precision, but at close range, it was the best weapon against the White Walkers.
