Soul Land:The Dragon King's God of Nature

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Defeating Wei Xiaofeng and Zhang Yangzi

All eyes were fixed on the two figures in the arena. Wei Xiaofeng wore a tense expression, his gaze locked on Jing Shaoyu like a venomous snake poised to strike at any opportunity. Jing Shaoyu, on the other hand, remained relaxed, a calm smile on his face, giving off an aura of harmless gentleness.

"Begin!" Ye Yingluo announced.

As soon as she spoke, Wei Xiaofeng lunged forward, his Green Shadow Serpent martial spirit activating instantly, and both of his yellow soul rings glowed. He used Green Shadow Overlay combined with Green Shadow Bite, morphing into a shadowy green snake that darted towards Jing Shaoyu from multiple directions.

Fully aware of Wei Xiaofeng's strategy, Jing Shaoyu didn't flinch—in fact, he looked almost excited. Wei Xiaofeng wanted to defeat him badly, so Jing Shaoyu had no qualms about teaching him a lesson. Raising his hand, a soft green glow spread from his palm to the ground, and in the next instant, the earth trembled as wild blue-silver grass sprang forth even more vigorously than before, shooting up to human height and shocking everyone.

Ye Yingluo winced, imagining the cost of repairs. She began to regret hosting this battle on the training grounds. Was this really the work of a Grandmaster-level soul master?

The sudden eruption of blue-silver grass blocked Wei Xiaofeng's swift advance. Although the grass looked tender and frail, he hesitated for just a moment before charging forward, deciding to push through.

But as he plunged into the grass, it began to twist and wind around him, growing rapidly and forming a net of entangling vines that slowed his movements, restricting him as he tried to break free.

Seeing his opponent trapped in the grass, Jing Shaoyu wasted no time. With a gentle push, several fireballs shot out from his palms, landing amidst the wild grass. Instantly, the area became a sea of flames.

This put Wei Xiaofeng in a tough spot.

"Damn! Playing dirty!" Wei Xiaofeng cursed as he tried to retreat, but by then, the fire had already spread behind him, fueled by the blue-silver grass.

Though Wei Xiaofeng couldn't see, Ye Yingluo and the other students watched with wide eyes. The blue-silver grass, almost like sentient creatures, seemed to pass the fire along intentionally, with no regard for self-preservation—a surreal sight.

In the end, Ye Yingluo intervened to rescue Wei Xiaofeng, pulling him out. His skin was red and singed, his body giving off the distinct smell of cooked meat.

"Ugh! So uncomfortable!" Wei Xiaofeng coughed, grimacing in pain as he groaned.

Ye Yingluo glanced at Jing Shaoyu with a hint of reproach. "That was a bit much, Jing Shaoyu!"

Jing Shaoyu raised his hands in mock helplessness. "Teacher, I had it under control."

Without another word, he walked over to Wei Xiaofeng. Seeing Jing Shaoyu approach, Wei Xiaofeng looked wary, but Jing Shaoyu simply raised his hand, activating his first soul ring. His first soul skill, Healing Light, enveloped Wei Xiaofeng in a soothing green glow.

After just a few seconds, Wei Xiaofeng noticed his burns had disappeared, his skin healed, and his throat felt clearer.

"This..." Wei Xiaofeng's face shifted through various emotions before he finally said, with a mix of awe and gratitude, "Thank you."

"No problem," Jing Shaoyu replied calmly.

Watching this, Ye Yingluo was once again taken aback. So this was the power of a thousand-year healing skill—truly extraordinary.

The training ground returned to normal as the remaining grass shrank back into the earth, taking the ashes with it. Only the faint scorch marks on the field served as a reminder of what had happened.

After informing the academy's maintenance department about the repairs, Ye Yingluo led the class to a new area of the training ground for the third round of matches.

The matchups were set: Jing Shaoyu would face Zhang Yangzi, and Xu Xiaoyan would face Liu Chi.

Zhang Yangzi appeared grim. Based on the earlier battles, he knew that, like Wei Xiaofeng, his own speed as an agility-type Grandmaster was not advantageous against Jing Shaoyu's overwhelming control abilities. But with Ye Yingluo's command to begin, he stepped forward, determined to try his best.

"Go, Yangzi!" Wang Jinxi shouted, cheering him on.

As soon as the match began, Zhang Yangzi activated his Dark Phantom Eagle martial spirit, his body enveloped by black wings. His two yellow soul rings glowed, and one of them lit up first, casting the arena in pitch-black darkness.

Dark Phantom Eagle's first soul skill: Black Sky Curtain.

Under the cover of this ability, Jing Shaoyu was surrounded by darkness, unable to see and with his senses dulled. Yet he stayed calm, a small smile on his lips. He raised his hand, summoning a bright fireball that illuminated a portion of the surrounding area.

Seeing this, Zhang Yangzi regretted his decision. He had planned to play the long game, waiting for Jing Shaoyu to drop his guard, then striking decisively. Unfortunately, Jing Shaoyu was more prepared than he'd anticipated.

Outside the arena, the students anxiously tried to peer into the darkness, unable to see what was happening. Only Ye Yingluo, with her high level, could clearly observe the events within the field.

After a few short minutes, the outcome became obvious. Zhang Yangzi was knocked out of the Black Sky Curtain by a surging wave of water, emerging soaked. The darkness dissipated, revealing Jing Shaoyu standing calmly in the center.

The match ended with Jing Shaoyu's victory.

Zhang Yangzi's plan to wear Jing Shaoyu down in the shadows had failed. His Black Sky Curtain was roughly the same size as Jing Shaoyu's Water Surge Technique, so Jing Shaoyu had only needed to send waves of water into the darkness, forcing Zhang Yangzi to dodge until he eventually got hit and was knocked out.

"Yangzi, are you alright?" Wang Jinxi rushed over, concern in his eyes, but quickly broke into laughter. "Haha, you really look like a drowned rat now!"

"Shut up!" Zhang Yangzi retorted. "You're not much better! Now help me up!"

"Alright, alright!" Wang Jinxi chuckled, helping his friend to his feet.

In the next match, Xu Xiaoyan faced Liu Chi.

Liu Chi, an eighteen-level soul master with the Saber martial spirit and a hundred-year soul ring, was a reserved young man with a quiet determination.

However, the battle was brief. Xu Xiaoyan, as a control-type Grandmaster with two rings, effortlessly defeated her opponent with a combination of her skills.

With that, the final contenders for the class monitor position were set: Jing Shaoyu and Xu Xiaoyan.

"Alright, the final match," Ye Yingluo announced, feeling a bit surprised. At the start of the lesson, she hadn't expected that Jing Shaoyu, a healing-type Grandmaster, would make it to the final round after consecutively defeating three other Grandmasters. If he defeated Xu Xiaoyan as well, his victory would be remarkably impressive.

"Hehe, Brother Shaoyu, I won't go easy on you!" Xu Xiaoyan said with a playful smile, standing across from him.

"Don't worry, I'll go easy on you," Jing Shaoyu replied, flashing a mischievous grin.

"Begin!" Ye Yingluo signaled.

Without hesitation, Xu Xiaoyan raised her Starwheel Ice Staff, launching an ice ring toward Jing Shaoyu. He reacted by kicking off the ground and taking to the air, his wings propelling him up.

Everyone gasped in shock. Ye Yingluo, Zhang Yangzi, Wang Jinxi, and Wei Xiaofeng all looked on in disbelief. No one had realized that Jing Shaoyu's wings weren't just for show—he could actually fl
