That's a lot of souls, to be honest. Like what am I ever gonna do with them? The whole realm is being made bigger and more wast with every new soul appearing so that is not really a problem. The problem is the fact that other than a throne room there is nothing else. They must be bored out of their mind, not that I am any better.

After taking a while to learn how to utilise the dark magic granted to me by the class I realised that my wielder is able to use a part of my abilities. When she killed those sneaking guys in the forest she unknowingly used a small amount of dark magic. The only thing she achieved with that was getting a little bit faster when chasing after the last survivor.

There is also something she isn't aware of, but thanks to the system I know.

She 'levelled up'.

Yes, she reached level 101 which shouldn't be possible since level 100 was max you could reach during the game. On the other hand, it is no longer a game, but a reality. Due to that, there is no longer such a thing as levels. The very concept ended when it became a reality, but even then she still had grown stronger, even if a little bit. I am sure she will notice it in the next few hours when 'fighting' theocracy's army.

That fact alone opens up a lot of possibilities. I was worried that when I reached a high enough level she would be completely left in the dust by me. Especially considering that she is not that much stronger than I am at this moment.

I stopped giving her hints about the plot for one simple reason. It might be useless at this point. I already made Shalltear not get mind-controlled and gave a warning about world-level items in enemy possession. That alone can fuck up the whole plot altogether. So my knowledge might as well be useless at this point.

Me pointing out that the black scripture is currently away is just simple logic. They were meant to be away and mind-control the vamp by accidental meeting, but it didn't happen so they should still be away searching for a supposed dragon.

The real worry is level items. I don't remember if the theocracy has more of them. Atsune seems to not really care tho, maybe she has a plan?

I wonder if she will let me possess a doll to fight them too. Or maybe even let me take control of her body again which I find unlikely. It's not that she does not trust me, but more like it takes both my and her energy. During the whole thing, I take control of her and add around half of my strength to hers while the doll allows me to use only 20%, but is not draining her while allowing me to stay around for way longer. I am not even gonna mention the fact that I have a 'normal' humanoid body when compared to whatever this is.

"Here is the drink."

I was taken out of my thoughts by the voice of one of the few... maids I have here. I stopped trying to comprehend how? Why? And more about it. Just out of nowhere, they appeared exclaiming that they were my maids now and would work in the 'palace' that is just a throneroom. At first, I asked what was going on and how they even had those maids' uniforms since there was literally nothing here. They just gave me an enigmatic response that I didn't understand back then, but now I do. It appears that you can shape the energy into various shapes and even give them solid form, like my sword by example but more solid and not transparent. In short, what she gave is basically her pure spiritual energy in the form of liquid.

I feel like some sort of a vampire now.

It took me a little bit to realise that they were in the group of souls that gathered at the beginning and they had this idea looking at how they were acting and sneakily glancing at me back then.

Literally, the first thing those newly made souls with some basic knowledge without any memories did, was to become maids. Like, what the fuck? Who does that?

At that point, I decided to stop questioning it all. I mean who wouldn't want to have a bunch of elf maids hehe.

I won't regret it. Even if I know Atsune is gonna go murderous when she has some time to visit.

She doesn't talk about it, but she acts like a jealous wife, doesn't she? With how angry and defensive she was with Albedo. Or when she learned that the succubus wanted to switch teams. Even now when I told her about the maids. I don't dislike it, in fact it seems weirdly fine.

Anyway, it had gotten a little bit crowded in here. Granted the realm got bigger and despite having nothing to do everyone seems completely fine, I am not. It just feels wrong. Hopefully, Atsune will kill enough soldiers for me to max this class to get some more structures to appear.

Since my reserves are full and I don't think that any sort of fight will happen in the next hours let's try with dark magic some more.

I got into the centre of the throneroom to make sure nothing would get destroyed or any maid injured. All the damage to the structure might just repair itself, but it doesn't mean that I will just wantonly destroy it over and over again. It's just stupid, not to mention the sheer chaos It would cause among all the residents here.

At first, I tried doing something that my wielder did. Enhancing speed using this type of magic and well it proved to be extremely simple. The only thing that needs to be done is to send some dark-type mana to your legs. I knew it would most likely be something simple to do since Atsune figured it out on her first try without any experience in the field.

This method has a few drawbacks. One of them is that it actually takes more energy than I thought it would. Other than that It also requires constant maintenance by 'throwing' a bunch of energy into the place, waiting for it to get used up and give another portion. To sum it up dark mana acts like fuel.

How do I lower the required amount?

It's not that I don't have enough mana for it. I just think for something like this the amount used up is not worth it at all. I could use it for a long time, but it's more useful to use the same amount on some large-scale offensive spell or a curse. Not that I know many of them to begin with.

How much energy is needed is decided by many variables. Among them is the effect and the area under the said effect. So the larger the area the greater the required energy. So in theory, if I make the space in which I focus my energy smaller while having the same effect then it will cause the usage of mana to go smaller. Something like pressure, to achieve the same pressure in a smaller container you need to use less water or other material.

So with that in mind, I started trying with a smaller area. Instead of whole legs and went to feet and it worked lowering the usage of energy by around half. Then I went lower where problems started arising. The smaller the area, the harder to control the energy seems to be.

In the end, I succeded at making it affect only my soles which is amazing. I will need to get used to using it since right now it requires me to concentrate to maintain the effect which is not very good in combat. But on the other hand, I could potentially run like this forever because I am regaining mana faster than using it with this ability.

Nice. Now to run a little to get used to it and then I can think of something else to do.
