SPIDER-MAN

Chapter 60: 60) Blackout

Black Widow quickly pulled out her pistol and started to fire at Mystique, who used her arms to block the bullets as they fell to the ground, leaving marks on her skin and drawing a little blood. She then rushed back into the bathroom.

Natasha maintained her distance from the entrance, walking a few feet in front of it, keeping her gun close. Not a sound could be heard as she slowly made her way to the entrance, quickly turning once past it, expecting Mystique to attack.

Nothing.

She made her way into the bathroom a little more now, seeing all the cubicles, urinals, and sinks laid out in an orderly fashion and gleaming white.

Natasha shot a bullet through each cubicle, but after the sounds of gunfire, there was still nothing. Confused, Natasha decided to slowly back out, keeping her gun tightly gripped.

A little screech came up from above, and when she looked up, she saw yellow eyes appear from the white ceiling as it seemed to drop on her. Before Natasha could react, she was now pinned against the floor, her gun slightly out of reach.

Mystique went for a punch, and Natasha moved her head out of the way just in time as the tiles behind her head shattered. Natasha managed to move her legs around Mystique's neck, strangling her. She struggled, trying to rip her legs off to no avail.

Mystique stood up before slamming herself, along with Natasha, to the ground, causing her to release the grip with a small groan of pain. Natasha, now in reach, hastily picked up her gun and began to shoot towards Mystique's head.

A bullet landed directly on her forehead, causing a small dribble of blood, but the rest she managed to block with her arm before rushing out.

Natasha slowly got back to her feet while keeping her gun pointed at the entrance before slowly exiting. A small thud could be heard on the ground outside before all the lights turned off and the shutters began to close, immersing the entire building in darkness.

Natasha reached for her radio. "Steve, are you there?" she asked.

"Yes, what the hell happened?" he replied, scared.

"Tell everyone to lock themselves somewhere and to not let anyone in. Mystique has infiltrated the facility and may be masquerading as Brian but could become anyone now," she responded.

"Roger that!" replied the man.

"Do you still have camera access?" asked Natasha.

"One moment," replied the man, clicking a few buttons on his keyboard. "No, they're all out. I can shut down access to other floors, but that's all I can do!" added the man.

"Shut access points at Floors 6 and 10; she couldn't have made it far!" ordered Natasha.

"Best of luck," replied the man before turning to static.

Natasha placed the radio back and began to stride through the building, turning on the flashlight on her gun to start her search.

A floor below stood a janitor cleaning up all the dust on the carpet and rubbish left by the other workers, jamming out to some rock music through his headphones.

He was none the wiser to the emergency threat call being shouted from his radio and the quiet sound of footsteps coming up from behind him. Without a single wasted second, Mystique effortlessly twisted his neck as the cleaner's corpse toppled to the ground.

Natasha flashed over every table, chair, and hallway, carefully looking for the tiniest detail or something out of place.

After checking the last office on the floor, she radioed Steve once more. "How is the in invacuation going?" she questioned.

"Everyone has responded accordingly except for Liam, the cleaner on the 7th floor. He listens to music all the time, so he may not have heard it or he's dead. Be careful!" replied the man.

"Roger that!" Natasha replied as the radio returned to static. She slowly made her way down the staircase.

"I've gained access to the cameras on floor 7!" yelled the man through the radio.

"Do you have access to everything on that floor?" asked Natasha.

"Almost. I have the lights and elevator. Should I turn them back on?" questioned the man.

"No. I have a plan, and for it to work, I need her to believe she's in control," replied Natasha.

"Roger that!" added the man.

"How long will it take to gain access to the armoury on floor 7?" questioned Natasha.

"30 minutes at best; whatever they hacked us with is incredibly complex," replied the man.

"Make sure she can't get to you, and tell me if you see her or any suspicious movement," added Natasha.

"Roger!" the man replied.

Natasha put her on the floor, checking her surroundings with the flashlight, and found nothing. She marched towards an office and entered, making sure Mystique wasn't hiding anywhere.

Natasha broke a hole in the wall, revealing a pump shotgun along with a box of shells, which she quickly grabbed and equipped.

She loaded her gun and pumped it before heading back into the dark hallway.

Making her way down the hallway, she stumbled upon a man dressed in a blue cleaning outfit wiping down some desks. She kept her gun pointed at the man, who turned to look around, jumping in fear as he saw Natasha point a gun at him.

"Please don't hurt me!" he begged, slowly reaching for his head and removing his headphones.

Natasha glared at the man in silence for a while before withdrawing her pistol and shooting the man in the foot.

"WHAT THE FUCK!" yelled the man, reaching down and holding his foot in agony as he began to tear up.

Natasha stayed silent and observed before placing her pistol back in its holster. "For someone who got shot, you'd think there would be blood," said Natasha before shooting her shotgun at the man.

He launched backwards from the force before grabbing his equipment and throwing it at Natasha, who used her gun to deflect it.

Mystique started to transform into a muscular man right in front of Natasha, who continued to shoot at her. After every gunshot Mystique was getting pushed back and Natasha noticed how the damage done became less each time. Eventually, the gunfire came to a stop as Natasha quickly reloaded.

"The more you shoot, the less it hurts," said Mystique in a deep voice.
