Chapter 40: Chapter 38
"Kurumi, would it be possible for you to deliver everything I requested in a location that I specify?" I ask as we wander through the haunted house.
"...I didn't really receive anything from your counterpart in this timeline. Don't you think you should give me a lot more for your irrational requests, Aurelio-san?" Kurumi speaks with a hint of anger.
'It seems she's taken a loss in this world.'
"Hmmm...should I? The current me practically gave you everything that was promised, so if you lost those things, it's no longer my problem, don't you agree?"
"...Have you become a greedy pig in the short time we haven't seen each other? I think you were more generous in the old world," she says as we turn the corner of the haunted house.
For the two of us who have done horrible things, this place can't really be scary.
"Okay, okay, I'll give you something extra, since you managed to get some of the things I asked for."
"In exchange for my generosity, could you tell me where Nia Honjou is?" I say to her, something that was a previous request.
"But I'm still looking, Aurelio-san. Shouldn't you refrain from rushing a lady? This..." I look at her seriously.
"Kurumi, I know you've already found Nia." I know very well that she knows where Nia Honjou is, because this time she started her search based on my request and had the things I gave her.
Based on what I know, it's impossible for her not to have found Nia Honjou yet, so she's stalling me, either to manipulate me or to obtain more resources the real reason doesn't matter.
"Oh? Aurelio-san is so assertive, hihihi," she giggles as she turns to me.
"I really do know where she is... but the security is too problematic, perhaps you'd like to wait for the protection to be reduced?"
"No, let's invade as soon as possible." I need to get rid of that Angel who collects information soon, I can't let that fall into Isaac Westcott's hands.
"...Aurelio-san, do you have a plan for this? You know what I'm referring to."
"Maybe? Hahaha, who knows if I do or not? Anyway, my plans are not something you need to know, is that right?"
"...Of course, Aurelio-san, what you do is not something I need to know..."
'She suspects what I really want... she's smarter than I thought.' I imagined something like this would happen, but it was quite early.
Kurumi knows some of my plans, but if she analyzes them well, my plans are all disconnected and illogical, whether it's killing, stealing or kidnapping, everything I do, when analyzed well, seems confused and unconnected.
After all, from a natural perspective, it just seems like I'm making random, senseless chaos, but Kurumi is smart, this random chaos is not really without connection, and she knows that.
Now the point is, she doesn't know my goal, and my requests don't make it clear what I really want, and that generates distrust, distrust generates doubts, and doubts generate questions.
It's a line of reasoning that only leads to a dead end.
And I'm sure it wasn't just her who noticed, Isaac Westcott has probably already noticed that what I'm doing is different from the chaos an Inverse Spirit causes.
Inverse Spirits cause random chaos, but theirs is continuous as they aim to destroy as much as possible, while my chaos is random but without continuity and on different scales to the point where it doesn't seem to have any real focus.
Furthermore, everything I do is directly connected to other Spirits, which opens up many possibilities.
"Kurumi, do you want to know what I'm going to do?" She looks at me with genuine curiosity.
"Aurelio-san, are you really going to tell me? I thought it was some super-secret kind of thing."
"I'm going to destroy the world," I say to her in a joking tone with a mischievous smile.
"...Pfff Hahaha, what a joke, Aurelio-san. If you don't want to tell me, you don't have to pretend," she bursts out laughing as we reach the exit of the haunted house.
'I imagined that would be how she would react...' She knows I have the power to destroy this world in the present, but if I really want to destroy the world, why haven't I done it already?
This response naturally makes that possibility not real, speaking honestly about my goal diverted her mind away from the correct answer.
I'm sure that if Kurumi knew I was really going to destroy the world, she would try to stop me, so instead of letting her have the slightest chance of reaching that conclusion, I decided to divert her from the correct answer by being honest.
'I have to accelerate my plans... the original Spirit... I wonder if that Spirit will appear when this world is close to the end.' Kurumi and I wander through the various locations of the school that have quite different events.
"Kurumi, can we go after Nia when the school festival is over?" I know I can't make Nia my ally, the chances of that are practically 0, so I'm going to eliminate her.
Even if I used Belial, she could still discover the truth using her Angel, so I've come to the conclusion that eliminating her is the correct answer.
"Of course, Aurelio-san.... Oh, Aurelio-san, inviting me on a date like this, you're making me so shy," She suddenly changes what she was saying, and even her tone of voice changes, and I look back to see Shiori.
After seeing Shiori, I look at Kurumi.
"You can be quite inconvenient, Kurumi." She could have just stayed quiet, but she had to say something.
"Hello, Shiori." I turn to Shiori, who doesn't seem very happy.
"Hello, Aurelio." She speaks with a certain coldness, although the coldness is more directed at Kurumi than at me.
"Shiori, don't worry too much about this, I invited Kurumi to be part of your team in the competition." Kurumi looks at me in surprise as I give her a mischievous smile.
"And as you can see, Kurumi has accepted to participate and help you, although she's a bit shy, you know she can play various instruments and sing, so I'll leave her with you, just get a maid uniform for her and teach her the lyrics and the dance." Kurumi looks at me with momentary anger.
I just turned the tables against her, no one told her to speak too much.
I leave the two while I go away, I don't want to get involved in this anymore, it's Kurumi's problem now, if she hadn't said that, none of this would have happened.
'I guess it's okay for it to be this way, now I can focus on helping Miku win.' I go outside the school to make a call.
"Lars, I need to buy some things." My counterpart in this timeline bought many things and I have a lot of money that the other me accumulated, but there's something specific I want.
"Aurelio-kun, it's been a while, I thought you'd never call. What do you need?" He speaks in the same enthusiastic but professional tone.
"I need you to get some things for me, mainly Realizers, at least 100 of the most advanced units you can get, plus a group of 100 obedient soldiers who will follow any order regardless of what it is."
"Sure, Aurelio-kun, I'll get that in a week at most. Do you need anything else? Also, a slight warning for you as a VIP client, a certain powerful man came looking for information about you, I recommend you pay attention."
'Probably Isaac Westcott...' He's the only powerful man who could seek information about me from people in the criminal underworld.
"Okay, I don't need anything else, just that. And about the delivery date, it doesn't have to be in a week, take as long as you can, I'll let you know when I need it." I say as I hang up the phone. Since I'm at the festival, I don't really need to stay at school right now, I'm going to an isolated location that I know is empty.
I activate my incomplete Astral Armor, hiding my Reiryoku, and try to find that Spirit that can alter the shape of things. I'm not sure if she's in the city currently or if she'll only appear in the future.
But if she's in the city, I'm going to steal her Sephira for myself. I start flying in a way to avoid being seen on the ground and go to abandoned places since in the anime she was in a place like that that had no one, if I'm not mistaken.
I fly over various locations and even use a bit of Reiryoku to try to find her, but there's nothing, I spend the next few hours searching in various places but fate is not in my favor today.
"I don't think I'll find her like this... at least the plans are going well." The 100 soldiers with Realizers will serve to use against Shiori.
When I add the power of the Sephira to Shiori, she will fundamentally be a true Spirit, and when that happens, I will make her see how bad humans are. Shido in the anime always saves the Spirits attacked, but never knew what it was like to really be a target of hatred by the world.
I will show Shiori the hatred that Spirits always receive when they appear in this world.
I will make her see that humanity simply attacks Spirits regardless of whether they are good or not, given Shiori's current state, this approach will work well.
Shiori is slowly drifting away from humanity, and when she finally has no more connection to humans, it will be my time to act. Until then, I must collect as many Sephira as I can.
