Chapter 16: Reveal
Yana trembled as she looked at Ryan. Her eyes widened, and she stammered, "Wh-what do you mean?!"
Ryan, too upset to think clearly, simply showed her the chat interface on his phone.
It was true. The so-called number one supporter, the mysterious "Poor Guy," was none other than Ryan—a notorious, broke simp known around campus.
Yana felt like her entire world had crumbled. The top supporter she had been fantasizing about turned out to be this sloppy, unsophisticated man standing in front of her.
The contrast between the image in her mind and the reality was too much to bear. This guy was infamous for being penniless. The clothes on his entire body combined weren't worth the price of one of her shoes.
And yet, somehow, this same person had spent three hundred thousand on her.
"Not going?"
Ryan smiled bitterly and said, "Even you find it embarrassing to be seen with me. Forget it. I warned you that I'd disappoint you."
He turned around, ready to leave this miserable scene. Yana snapped back to reality and suddenly grabbed his hand.
Her wide, beautiful eyes softened as she said gently, "No, no, I'm just… surprised."
The warmth of her touch sent a jolt through Yana. He froze, feeling his whole body go numb, as though he'd been struck by lightning.
He paused reluctantly, still wearing a bitter smile, and said, "Don't worry. That money wasn't stolen or anything."
"That's not what I meant!"
Yana rolled her eyes and quickly said, "Classmate Ryan, I never looked down on you. I was just… caught off guard for a moment."
"I only feel… embarrassed. Even if you won the lottery, you can't spend it so recklessly."
Ryan, now holding a cheap cigarette that cost ten yuan a pack, looked stunned. "Lottery? What lottery?"
"You suddenly have so much money… Didn't you win the lottery?"
That was the only explanation Yana could come up with, though she was also probing for answers.
Ryan burst out laughing. "You misunderstood. Someone like me, winning the lottery? No way. That's my own money."
Yana's heart skipped a beat. The person in front of her was indeed the top supporter who had spent so much on her.
Could he actually be a rich heir, deliberately hiding his identity to live a low-key life?
Yes, that must be it! Otherwise, why would he so easily spend three hundred thousand? Normal people who suddenly came into money wouldn't spend it like this.
The more she thought about it, the more Yana felt drawn to the unsophisticated but strangely intriguing man standing before her.
It turned out she had been too shallow before, judging people only by their appearances. Upon closer inspection, this guy was actually quite handsome. He was tall, well-built, and much better looking than the short and oily Kaiden.
Yana, who graduated from the art department and always had a refined taste, sized up Ryan and immediately felt that he was definitely an unpolished gem. If properly refined, he could turn into a masterpiece.
The magic of money is truly amazing—once viewed through the lens of wealth, everything seemed more pleasing to the eye.
Yana smiled charmingly, extended her hand gracefully, and said, "No matter what, it's a pleasure to meet you, my dear No. 1 supporter."
Her smile was absolutely enchanting. In terms of charm and femininity, Tina was not even on the same level as her.
Ryan felt his heart race instantly. Scratching his head awkwardly, he said, "Classmate Yana, it's nice to meet you."
Yana quickly closed the distance between them and shook her head. "Just call me Yana."
Her words were playful yet casual, effortlessly seizing control of the situation and holding Ryan completely under her spell.
"Yana, you must be hungry too. Let's eat here. I don't feel like walking anymore."
Ryan still felt a sting in his heart; he wanted to see how far Tina and Kaiden's relationship had progressed. After all, Tina had been his white moonlight.
Recalling the earlier scene, Yana smirked and said, "Of course. But don't feel so down—Kaiden is just a pretentious show-off."
"His dad only gives him 5,000 dollars a month for living expenses, and he has a 15,000-dollars credit card he doesn't even dare max out. Honestly, he's poorer than you."
Hearing this, a spark lit up in Ryan's eyes, and his confidence surged. Walking inside, he scratched his head and said shyly, "So, you saw all that just now?"
"I just don't get it—what's so great about Tina?"
Yana huffed proudly, a hint of disdain in her tone.
For Ryan, it wasn't about Tina being extraordinary. It was just that radiant smile during military training that had completely captured his heart and plunged him into a one-sided love.
Holding up the phone in his hand, Ryan gave a sheepish smile and said, "I didn't bring a proper gift, so here's this. Hope you don't mind?"
The phone box was slightly crumpled, with a bit of dust from falling earlier. Most importantly, it was something someone else had already rejected.
Of course, Yana cared deep down, but she skillfully masked her feelings, knowing how to offer emotional value.
She took the phone, gasped in feigned excitement, and said, "Wow, an iPhone 16! My phone hasn't been working well lately—thank you so much!"
"As long as you like it!"
Ryan smile was a little silly but heartfelt.
It was the first time for both of them to visit such a high-end place as the Domina Hotel. Upon entering the lobby, a manager promptly greeted them and guided them toward the various signboards and facilities within the hotel.
The five-star hotel had comprehensive facilities, including a Italian restaurant, a Western restaurant, and the most luxurious rooftop garden restaurant.
"Let's go to the garden restaurant!"
Ryan made his choice without hesitation.
"Sir, to maintain the dining experience, our garden restaurant has limited space and is only open to our esteemed members," the manager explained courteously.
