Chapter 18: Killing the Two Chicken Beasts
Cain then checked the duo chickens' information to see if there was something unusual about them and found nothing special about them.
The reason he checked their information was that he thought the chickens might have some hidden phoenix bloodlines or something since he didn't expect to encounter chicken beasts as strong beasts.
Afterwards, Cain informed Dante about the beasts he had found and asked him if he was confident in killing them both.
Dante answered without hesitation that it should be easy for him to kill them alone.
However, since he wasn't alone, the chickens would have noticed them, making them more alert, and the only way to kill them was through direct confrontation.
Even though Dante wouldn't have any problem killing them through direct confrontation, the process would take longer compared to him killing them by a sneak attack, which was his forte.
When Cain heard Dante's explanation, he told him about his plan before immediately ordering him to kill them by himself since it was safer.
…
Running through the forest silently, Dante used his [Umbra Cloak] skill while he was at it.
Even though the effect was much weaker than when used at night, it still helped him more than going without it.
When he arrived about 100 meters away from the location Cain had described, Dante looked ahead from a big tree's shadow and found two huge chickens having a meal below a massive tree.
The Fire Rooster was as large as 8 meters tall, while the Water Hen was about 7.5 meters tall.
Their bodies were identical to chickens, except for their huge sizes and the colors at the tips of their feathers: red for the Fire Rooster and blue for the Water Hen.
They were eating chunks of meat scattered on the ground.
Not far from them, there was a tree about 3 meters tall that had a few fruits similar to red apples, and there were three eggs about 30 cm in size.
After assessing the situation, Dante immediately came up with a plan and vanished from the spot.
As Dante had arrived at the massive tree's shadow and was only about 25 meters away from the Fire Rooster.
Dante then silently unsheathed his sword and immediately used his [Shadow Step] skill to move while being invisible and traveling at an extremely fast speed.
When Dante arrived below the Fire Rooster's neck, the timing was perfect as the rooster was about to peck the meat, which allowed Dante to use his [Silent Reaper] skill, aiming it below its jaw.
At the same time when he used his skill, Dante also channeled his dark energy into his sword.
The Fire Rooster was extremely surprised when it sensed the extreme danger as Dante channeled his dark energy into his sword.
Unfortunately for the rooster, it was too late to react and dodge the attack as the sword had pierced its jaw, and the dark energy that Dante had gathered in the sword instantly erupted from the tip, almost blowing away the entire head.
The Water Hen was shocked when she saw the scene unfolding before her eyes and immediately became enraged, making a loud clucking sound before rushing madly at Dante.
In response, Dante used his [Shadow Bind] skill to restrict her movements before preparing to cast his [Dark Slash] skill.
A lot of thick strings emerged from the hen's shadow, immediately wrapping around her body and tying her down with her shadow.
The Water Hen struggled to break free, trying her best to escape from the thick strings.
Watching the struggling hen being tied down by his skill while making loud clucking sounds, Dante immediately approached her and cast his [Dark Slash] skill.
Noticing that Dante had already arrived in front of her and was slashing his sword horizontally, the Water Hen immediately used her [Water Armor] skill as she sensed the terrifying power of the sword.
A visible armor made of water instantly enveloped each of her feathers as she went all out focusing on her defense since she couldn't do much while tied down.
Unfortunately for her, the water armor couldn't block the crescent blade, resulting in her head being separated from her body as the crescent blade beheaded her cleanly.
…
When Cain heard the notifications he had been waiting for, he immediately instructed Nix to fly towards Dante's location.
[Ding! Dante has killed the Peak-level Lord Rank Beast.]
[Ding! Dante has killed a High-level Lord Rank Beast.]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining 2,000,000 Evolution Points.]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining 700,000 Evolution Points.]
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for obtaining 300 Gacha Points.]
Looking at the rewards he received, Cain felt extremely satisfied as he could upgrade Nix's rank once again. However, he decided not to upgrade it as he wasn't in a hurry at the moment.
When Cain arrived at the scene, he immediately saw the decapitated Water Hen and the dead Fire Rooster, whose head had been blown out by Dante.
Cain then stored the corpses in his inventory before approaching the Fire Blood Tree and the eggs.
"Dante, were the chickens flapping around after you killed them?"
Cain asked, curious, as chickens are supposed to flap their wings and move around madly after their throats are slit.
"No. Why do you ask, my lord?" Dante looked at him curiously.
"Never mind!" Cain waved his hand, thinking it seemed Dante and Elara didn't know about this fact.
Looking at the Fire Blood Tree in front of him, Cain asked the system as he examined the tree curiously.
"System, how long does it take for these fruits to ripen?"
"These fruits will be ripe in 40 days," the system replied.
"By the way, can I take this tree and put it into the beast space?"
Cain asked, thinking of an idea about storing this tree away and nurturing it in his beast space, even though the tree actually had no use for him.
However, he could still give it to his subordinates or sell it since it's considered an extremely precious treasure, especially for those who had reached Peak-level Lord Rank.
The fruit produced by the Fire Blood Tree could help those with Fire Attributes break through into the Grandlord Rank.
"Yes, you can put it into the beast space. Do you want me to put it in for you?" the system asked.
"Yes, please." Cain responded as he stepped back.
