Chapter 2: Chapter 2 A friend.
When he logged back in, he saw a notification of the incoming call.
-What the hell happened?
Why did you suddenly disappear?
A frantic female voice asked him the moment he answered.
-Sorry, it was Agness and Robert, they found out about my bank account and wanted me to give them access to it.
He answered.
-It had to be my sister's work.
I should tell Father that she is divulging private information about the bank accounts.
The voice said with anger.
-Calm down Alex, If you tell him then they will know that we are in contact, and it won't change anything.
Andrew said, trying to calm down his only friend.
-But that's a crime and she should be punished.
The girl protested.
-It's not worth it, at most she will be scolded by your parents and that's it.
On the other hand, you would have to admit to contacting me despite your family's wishes and I'm sure that Sophia would contact Agness right the next moment, which will end up in me getting a beating again.
Paul presented the most likely scenario.
The girl sighed.
-Alright, I will let it slide for now, but the moment you are away, I'm going to reveal what she had done and not to my father but to my uncle.
Alexandra Hajduk was his friend, mostly because like him, she was an affair baby, however unlike him she was a beautiful girl with whole legions of boys trying to date her.
Her family also treated her much better.
They met in their classroom as they became deskmates and shortly became friends.
In her presence, no one dared to bully him, as the only time that happened she slapped the shit of the bully and told him straight that she didn't want to see him again.
The whole class witnesses this and since then they left Andrew alone, not wanting to lose their chance to get close to the beauty.
That incident was the cause of her family's forcing her to cut all communications with him, which by the way she had no intention of doing.
-As I was saying before they interrupted us, I already made an account for you in another bank using your mother's last name, so you can start selling your resources and divide the money between the accounts.
Alex said.
-Thank you, This will help me a lot.
-While I was at it, I also made one for myself.
-Why would you need one?
He asked surprised.
-While my family treats me well, I have a suspicion that something is off and I want insurance, just in case I will also need to run away.
She explained, her voice serious.
He had known her long enough to know that she was not paranoid and her intuition was usually spot on.
-Whatever they are planning, we still have two years to go before we can get out.
-Yeah, let's just hope that nothing too major happens during that time.
She agreed.
-By the way, how much do you think we will be able to save up during that time?
She asked as it was his idea from the start.
-If everything goes as planned, then I can save up around half a million or even more depending on the situation in the game.
He explained.
-You on the other hand have to give most of your resources to your family's guild, so I think that about a hundred thousand or so should be possible.
She thought as much.
They were planning his escape for the better part of a year and the Star Emperor was the only way they found to get the necessary funds.
The game itself was already running for five years and it was an instant Hit.
The players were able to take up any role they wanted, once their avatar was created.
Everyone started the same, with a one-room space station, they had to upgrade and expand which cost resources.
The main point of interest however was the technology tree which allowed to research technologies that could later be created in the real world, making many people rich overnight as the technology could be patented.
From the launch of the servers till now, there have been at least a thousand technologies that were successfully patented, and the people who researched them became rich in a short time.
The game has become an essential part of life for people and right now there are over 5 billion players worldwide.
The only downside was that the quantity of resources required for the research was enormous.
This however made it possible for people to sell their resources for real money and there was no shortage of companies that were willing to pay to get them.
Andrew was one of the resource-gathering players, and thanks to that he was able to earn a lot of money while saving just enough resources to slowly expand his gathering operations.
The biggest perk to being a resource gatherer was that nobody tried to attack you.
The last people who tried playing the pirates were soon banned from buying resources while the gatherers asked their clients to take care of them, which they did with pleasure.
-Don't worry too much, the moment I have the upgrade to the gathering drones researched, I will share it with you and then you will be able to gather more resources.
Andrew tried to comfort her.
-How long will that take?
She asked.
He walked to a research console to take a look.
-At this pace, it will be ready in around a month.
He answered.
-I need to go, they are calling me for supper.
Alex said suddenly.
-Ok, see you later, and if something happens, let me know.
-Ok, bye.
The connection ended and her icon showed that she logged out.
But before that, she sent him the details about his new bank account.
He liked talking to her as she was the only person who accepted him for who he was.
More than that, she was his only ally and he treasured her greatly.
Once she was gone, he started to read the raptors about his resource-gathering operations and smiled seeing the amount of resources waiting in his warehouse modules waiting to be sold.
Before he could get to that, he was also informed that the supper was about to be served.
He had no choice but to get to the dining room to get the salad he hated, but it was the only food he could eat.
The idea was to make him lose weight, but he never did.
Andrew stopped eating sweets, and fast food, and even stopped drinking anything other than green tea and water with lemon juice, so in all rights, he should be losing weight but instead, he was either gaining or maintaining it at best.
It was so strange that he started suspecting that his meals or drinks were spiked with something that made him gain weight.
Knowing this bunch of bastards, he would not put it past them as it was another way for them to torment him.
The supper was a calm period as his siblings would not try anything when one of their parents was around.
Andrew ate his salad, hating it more with every bite.
-Only two years to go.
He thought for the whole time.
-Two years and I'm free.
After the meal, if you could call it that, Agness asked their father about the account, and to Andrew's relief, he confirmed his version.
-How do you even know about it?
Their father suddenly asked, this was strange as Andrew would not tell them and he didn't either.
-Sophia found it in their system by a coincidence and asked me about it.
Agness quickly answered.
-Tell her, this is the last time I will let it slide.
Revealing private account information is a crime and if I wanted to I could ruin her career right now.
Henry Sparrow said seriously.
He had no intention of doing it, but it was a good opportunity to show his friend's daughter that her actions could have disastrous consequences.
Agness was surprised at her father's reaction.
-I will.
She assured him and a moment later excused herself.
Robert followed her, visibly pissed off that Andrew told them the truth earlier, and now he had no excuse to beat him up again or even better get his hands on his money.
He didn't need it, but it would hurt that little bastard and that was more than enough to make him want it.
They didn't even reach the dining room's door when a blinding light enveloped them all.
When the light disappeared as fast as it appeared, everyone in the mansion, the country, and the entire planet disappeared.
