Star King Chronicles

Chapter 19: The Bringer Of Darkness

Hundreds of arrows, bullets, fire, and brimstone flew through the air with extreme swiftness.

Dozens of iron, silver, steel, and stone were thrust with intense curiosity.

Yet none of them were able to hit Nasiah. None of them even came close.

He jumped into the air to avoid the spears and swords that tried to strike him down. Then, with great precision and speed, grabbed and redirected all the projectiles that came his way.

Nasiah simply tugged on the threads which held the Names such as 'Direction' and 'Momentum', altering their path so that they may hit each other in the air or harmlessly to a wall.

Even the ones made by Magick were not safe, for he saw that they were made by crossing and tying the threads of the world in a certain way, such as a ball of fire were threaded with Names of 'Temperature,' 'Fuel' and a few more.

He tried but failed to untangle them as they were multiple at once all interconnected. However, he was still able to manipulate them with the same threads of the other projectiles, pushing them to the side.

His goal was not to make them not hit him; in fact, if any of them did hit him, he would not feel anything. It was just that they could have hit the army below, injuring them badly or, worse, killing them.

It all happened so quickly that the army was unable to understand what was happening properly. All of their attacks missed by hundreds of feet, and now their target was already by the high ground, taking out their men!

Nasiah was happily knocking out the marksmen and mages with swift blows to the stomach. A few of them were dragged across the side of the mountains or used their bodies as weapons to take out their compatriots.

He made sure to throw their unconscious bodies to the side to be collected for later.

Nasiah found himself mystified by the use of Magick they had. While not as capable as his own, they were highly specialized. He tried to copy how they did it, attempting to manipulate the threads in the air to create a ball of fire.

However, upon manipulating the threads with the Names of 'Temperature' and 'Vectors' an explosion occurred on his hands that sent many soldiers flying away.

Upon seeing this, his eyes glittered with joy as he proceeded to run around the battlefield, blowing up everything around him.

He would, of course, try to control the output of the blasts, tinkering with how high of a temperature and how much momentum it would carry as well as which direction it would go.

Nasiah also used it to help him jump higher, propelling him into the air every so often. Sadly, he still was not able to properly throw a fireball.

It was not long until those on the higher ground would be taken out. That was when he moved to those below.

Jossel attempted to spread out his men, making sure to avoid large clusters so that they could entrap Nasiah. While his opponent was powerful, he was still just one lone man. He and his elite guard should be able to take him down.

He and his guard took their own squadrons, spreading them around, and sent a small group in the middle to have Nasiah focus on so that they could surround him.

The young boy took the bait, jumping into the ranks below. He took them all out with ease, slamming the soldiers into the ground, the air, and into the walls, making craters and knocking them out.

That was when the elite guard of Jossel took their ambush. They numbered in ten, armored in silver on black horses.

They wielded special swords with the Alchemy of Wind Currents on them, the Magick to create such strong wind currents that they could cut through rock, steel, iron, and more with ease.

They charged at Nasiah, activating their swords as they attempted to slice him down.

The boy first tried to manipulate the wind currents, but much like the fireballs, he was unsuccessful in his attempt, getting knocked back by the wind currents as his armor guarded the blow.

He charged forward towards them, but they swung their blades at the air, amplifying their power as they sent powerful winds that shook the valley, sending Nasiah flying around.

While he was in the air, he thought of what was to be done. He could not directly go to them because they would blow him away, and they would charge at him multiple times over to cut him down.

That was when he looked straight to the ground and got an idea. He grabbed at the many strings below and tugged at them; temperature, mass, density, momentum, and so much more began to go awry, causing an earthquake that could shake mountains to rumble beneath their feet.

The elite guards did not seem to be perturbed. They charged forward once more to Nasiah, but that was their final mistake. With one more strained tug, the ground broke apart and began to spew molten magma into the air, much like a volcano.

Before any of the guards could retreat or fall back, Jossel jumped into the battle and managed to swing his cleaver, slicing the magma apart as well as the instability from the ground.

The Name of Sky Cleaver came from his ability to cut with his blade, as he held a special Magick rooted in severance.

The ability to imbue his blade with the power to cut and dismantle.

It functions by separating any object apart, ignoring forms of density. It could even work on things such as air, creating small vacuums at a time.

Nasiah could even see that the Magick on his blade had threads that straightened out other threads, making sure any changes in the environment would quickly return to normal.

"It seems you are worthy of my full attention, come my soldiers, we must hunt this Hyena down with our full might!"

With that rallying call, the knight raised his sword to the sky and, with his guard, charged towards Nasiah.
