Star Wars: CT-0292 Vaughn

Chapter 3: Towards Teth

I found myself laying beside Captain Rex on the barricades, sniping off the B1's that had pushed ahead.

The shield still laid behind and they had sent a few droid platoons ahead.

I focused my iron sight on the closest one, sniping him in the chest, I then turned to his closest friend.

He too lost his life.

I continued like that, sniping with my trustworthy DC15A.

"Ya got quite the talent for picking off targets, eh?" Rex asked, he was firing from a DC15S carbine beside me.

"I've always focused on mid-long range combat." Was my simple return, we went quiet as we continued firing.

But as the droids sent more and more battalions out of the shield generators we quickly got overrun.

As they began walking up our barricade I took out my DC17 pistol in my left hand and the DC15A laying in my right hand, using my chest as a support.

Covering the soliders as they ran back.

Rex stood beside me, we both slowly walked back while picking off any droids daring to stick their heads up.

"Typho!" I shouted to the man running beside me.

"Get your men a few meters behind us aiming their guns at the top, only a few can walk over every seconds, and only the first line can aim at us! Spread the word!" I shouted and Typho nodded, running off while screaming.

"An interesting idea, Vaughn." Rex said, but we both focused on keeping the men covered for now.

I could feel both my blasters beginning to overheat.

"I'm overheating soon!" I told Rex and he responded with the same exact thing.

Fuck.

And just as I felt my final shot leave the carbine and the droids got over their fallen brothers and aimed at me, my life flashed before me, all my brothers that I had learned to grow up with.

My family from Earth whom would want me to live.

And the excitement it felt like to be in this adventurous world.

But just as a laser left the first droids carbine, hundreds of bolts from behind us clashed against the droids coming out of the steep hill.

The first shot barely missed me as both I and Rex turned around.

To see over 70% of our Company having turned around and opened fire upon the droids, and it was working.

However, just as the shield passed through us and nearly enveloped the artillery, the shield finally went down.

"Seems the General finally did it." Rex said beside me as the artillery opened fire.

I saw the men slump down and taking a rest.

"332nd Platoon, form up on the previous position and make sure no droids are capable of damaging our downed troops." I said into the comlink.

I knew a few of them had sat down but due to being new and refreshed they barely got the energy to stand up and lay down onto the barricade.

I looked down onto Anakin and Ahsoka.

Ahsoka looked giggly and jumpy, I smiled.

I guess Anakin accepted her.

While we fled her I looked over Ahsoka's database. Apparently the Jedi had found her a year later, or so I guessed as Plo Koon came back with another Togruta and had to come back a year later to pick up Ahsoka.

As we stopped they both got on before taking off again.

"Great job, General Skywalker." Rex said, I smiled to Ahsoka, having taken my helmet off.

"You too, Commander." I said, and Ahsoka smiled at that.

And with that we flew straight towards the Acclamator.

Once we arrived Skywalker thanked Rex for the ride before we headed off to our own Venator.

"Good job, Vaughn. I guess you're not a shiny anymore." Rex said with a chuckle.

I smiled at that.

"Huh, and you're more than just the usual Captain, eh?" I said and with that even the Clones around us chuckled.

I stood close to our LAAT as I watched Ahsoka brag about saving Skywalker

I couldn't help but chuckle as Anakin joined the crowd.

We were currently in the Teth System. On an acclamator.

Oh yes, we were saving the little monster.

Either way, I knew this would be difficult, Ventress would be here and few Clones actually survived this conflict.

But I needed to focus on my Squad.

We had gotten a few days rest and the boys were now loading stuff into our two LAAT's.

We had one LAAT's meant for us and another split between us and another Platoon.

But it would do.

However before I could focus on other stuff Anakin and Ahsoka walked past me.

"Well, if you're keeping the men inspired. I'm sure they would appreciate you giving them some help." Anakin said as he turned to me.

Fuck I knew where this was going.

"Eh, sir, n-no-" I tried before he smiled.

"You'll be under the command of Lieutenant Vaughn, or more so helping his unit." He said, he somehow enjoyed that.

Well that was annoying, now I had a little Jedi to look out for, well she was quite strong. But still little.

"Eh, hello, Commander. I suppose you'll ride with us this time." I said and Ahsoka smiled, she was just happy to fight.

And with that we walked towards our LAAT.

Honestly shocked Anakin let Ahsoka not be under his watch on the first week as his Padawan.

Soon enough I found myself on an LAAT as we headed towards the jungle.

"Well, Anakin told you to stay close to us, and eh we've been tasked with protecting the 2nd LAAT, so I suppose you'll be there with us." I said and she nodded.

"I'll be there protecting you, Vaughn." Ahsoka said with a smile and I chuckled.

"As much as it would make my day, having a teenage protecting me, the AT-TE needs it more." I said with a smile, as Anakin called Ahsoka.

Anakin then began fussing over Ahsoka, telling her to stay close to me and that this was not practise.

The lights turned red.

"Red lights, check your comms, radio and gear." I said as I began checking my DC15A, once it was cleared I quickly checked my DC17.

All the while explosions were happening around us but nothing got exploded.

The light turned green.

"Green light, 1, 2, 3! Go go go!" I shouted before jumping the half a meter between the LAAT and the ground.

As the last left the ground the LAAT's flew away.

"Follow the AT-TE on the right! Prepare your ascension cables!" I shouted as I began sprinting towards the wall.

Ahsoka originally took a few seconds but as I shouted it and ran past her she quickly got out of it and hurried after us.

Somehow, as we reached the mountain we ended up beside Skywalker.

"I've got the devils luck." I muttered before looking at the AT-TE preparing to climb.

A lightbulb went off in my head as I sprung towards the AT-TE.

As his two forward feet was lifted to connect to the Mountain I jumped onto It's middle feet's and climbed onto it.

As it got completely vertical I crawled beside the gunner and sat into a slight hole.

Ahsoka clearly got the same idea as she did in the movies and after a few seconds she jumped down onto an area underneath me.

"Oh? If it ain't the Commander." I said with a chuckle, she was clearly amused by the same exact thing.

But that quickly dispersed as the gunner beside me as shot.

I cursed before turning to Ahsoka.

"Help me get into the gunners seat." I said as I climbed into it.

Ahsoka helped me a bit with a jump before I crawled into it.

After getting into the seat and leaning back I began getting a test of the controls.

It was simple really, a red button to shoot and a handle to aim. There was also a camera at the tip of the gun allowing me to aim precisely.

I chose my targets and began shooting.

Even if I didn't hit someone I mainly aimed at the big platform sticking out, hoping to make a few fall down.

However soon enough, a few CIS Air Platforms began attacking us, 4 to be precise.

Their 2 forward guns and the droid on the back wrecking chaos alongside the mountainside.

Turning my top turret slowly I managed to get a proper aim and launched a single shot just as they were about to get too close, the large explosion taking 2 of them out.

However the two remaining still got enough of a shot.

Realising it was slowly tipping I quickly jumped out of my suit and began crawling up.

Using the cannon to support my back I quickly climbed beside a struggling Padawan.

"Weren't you supposed to be saving me." I said with a chuckle before grabbing her around her waist with my left hand and lifted her up, letting her get onto the top as the AT-TE he grabbed on.

I could see Anakin jumped down as I turned around while still hanging, grabbed my DC17 and opened fire on the remaining 2 incoming air platforms.

A headshot quickly found it's way onto the first pilot before Anakin jumped from the Mountainside and onto the 2nd, cutting it's head off and getting onto the platform.

As we began walking up again I crawled back down and into the gunner seat.

We were nearly at the top.

We walked around the platform to get onto it from the side.

And we got on it, just in time for Anakin to speak out loud at being pointed at by 3 Droidekas.

I turned the turret and shot, destroying all 3 of them.

"Can't get much closer, skyguy." Ahsoka said, meanwhile Rex looked at me shockingly from the side.

"Vaughn, what the hell are you doing in a gunners seat!?" He shouted as Anakin looked at me with an amused expression.

"Well, the original guy kind of fell out and I wouldn't say no to a free seat." I said while smiling under my helmet.

Rex just looked at me before turning to Anakin.

"All clear, General." Rex said and Anakin nodded.

"Great work, Rex." Anaki said before to me.

"You too, Vaughn. Thanks for saving little snippy over here." He said and I smiled.

"All apart of the job description, General!" I said with a salute and he began chuckling.

"Alright, Vaughn take a squad and follow me." Rex said after a while and I nodded.

I turned to Eagle and Eagle Squad.

"Ya heard him, get your asses over here." I said as we began walking.

Straight towards the old monastery, I kind of felt like some Wild West main character with the way we were walking, but we quickly arrived at the doors.

And after a bit of tweaking, it finally opened. Revealing a completely dark building.

And with that, we walked in….
