Chapter 41 - The Arrival of the Lord
“It’s such a pity, Sister Lin. I really wanted to hang out with you,” Tian Mi said, though her expression showed no regret whatsoever.
She was about to burst into laughter any second.
Lin Qianqian had the temperament of a young lady and couldn’t tolerate someone being so sarcastic towards her. She immediately retorted, “Seeing how regretful you are, I can’t bear to disappoint you. I’ll put things aside for now and go watch the movie with you guys.”
“But how can that be? Important matters come first. You’re busy, so we’ll leave first,” Tian Mi hastily pulled Li Ling’er and Qing Mu along, fearing that Lin Qianqian might follow them.
Finally getting rid of Lin Qianqian, who wouldn’t want to waste such a good opportunity; it would be a sin.
Qing Mu remembered something important, stopped in his tracks, and said to Li Ling’er and Tian Mi, “Wait a moment, I have something to tell Sister Lin. You go ahead and take the elevator; I’ll come down later.”
Tian Mi glanced at Qing Mu and teased, “Even when you’re leaving, you’re still whispering secrets. Really, our Ling’er can’t compare to Sister Lin, can she?”
“Tian Mi! One of these days, I’ll shut your rotten mouth,” Li Ling’er blushed and pulled Tian Mi away to wait for the elevator.
Leaving only Qing Mu and Lin Qianqian.
Qing Mu leaned in close to Lin Qianqian’s ear and whispered, “I overheard that Worm making a call in the restroom just now. They seem to have plans involving someone here, but I don’t know who exactly. Also, Worm isn’t alone; they’re part of a group, but I don’t know how many exactly. You better investigate the people in the restaurant tonight. Do you understand what I mean?”
Lin Qianqian immediately realized the seriousness of the situation.
“I understand. Thank you, Qing Mu. You’ve done us a great favor this time. Eliminating a mature Worm often requires a huge price. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure my father pays you more, at least at the level of a captain!”
With Qing Mu’s merit of single-handedly dealing with a mature Worm, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to pay him a captain’s salary each month.
“Thanks. Take care of the rest yourselves; I’m out.”
Qing Mu turned and left.
The remaining matters were none of his concern.
But Qing Mu didn’t know.
In a corner of the restaurant, a man dressed in a pristine chef’s uniform, handsome and distinguished, had been silently observing him.
After Qing Mu left, the man revealed a mysterious smile.
A golden nameplate was pinned to the man’s chest.
It bore several prominent words.
Head Chef of Mu Ya Restaurant: Simu.
……
Qing Mu, Li Ling’er, and Tian Mi left Mu Ya Restaurant and found a nearby movie theater to watch a film.
The movie was a comedy, nothing too intellectually stimulating, but it was all about having a good laugh.
They came out of the cinema, and it was nearly past midnight.
There were hardly any people on the streets, and the streetlights cast long shadows, creating an eerie atmosphere.
The surroundings were dimly lit, and they could barely make out the path ahead.
At this late hour, it seemed a bit risky for Li Ling’er and Tian Mi, two young girls, to go home on their own.
Qing Mu, despite his straightforward nature, understood that he should escort the two girls home in such a situation.
“Do you two live far from here? I can walk you home,” he offered.
Tian Mi, not wanting to embarrass her friend Li Ling’er, quickly spoke up, “It’s not far, just down that street over there. It’s less than a twenty-minute walk, very close. Let’s go.”
“Alright, let’s go. I’ll walk you back,” Qing Mu agreed.
Qing Mu didn’t have to rush back to the dormitory, and taking Li Ling’er and Tian Mi home also gave him a chance for a leisurely stroll.
The three of them walked slowly along the road.
Occasionally, a car would pass by, breaking the silence of the late night.
Qing Mu wasn’t particularly talkative by nature, so he walked quietly without saying much.
Tian Mi, on the other hand, was quite chatty, engaging Li Ling’er in constant conversation.
Every now and then, she would say a few words to Qing Mu to keep the conversation going and tease him.
With such a lively and cheerful person around, it didn’t feel dull.
In a dark corner, however, a pair of cold eyes were fixed on Qing Mu and the two girls.
They watched like a venomous snake, silently waiting for the moment their prey would fall into their trap.
When the three of them turned into a pitch-black alleyway.
The owner of those cold eyes suddenly made their move.
A deadly sickle sliced through the darkness.
Heading straight for Li Ling’er.
Qing Mu instinctively felt a chill run down his spine, but before he could react, Li Ling’er acted swiftly.
“Careful!” she exclaimed, pushing Qing Mu aside.
*Swish!*
The scythe grazed Li Ling’er’s shoulder, causing blood to splatter instantly.
Fortunately, Li Ling’er’s quick reaction saved her. If she hadn’t moved, the scythe might have severed her arm.
Qing Mu steadied himself and took a closer look. He recognized the origin of the monstrous creature.
The creature was known as the “Jackal Lord.”
In the world of Kamen Rider Agito, these beings were not exactly monsters; the term “angels” would be more appropriate. They were created by the Overlord of Darkness, known as the Dark God, and served as the progenitors of all life forms on the planet.
For instance, the Jackal Lord before them could be considered the ancestor of all wolf species on the planet.
These creatures had a unique way of conducting themselves. They acted in accordance with the will of the Dark God, representing his intentions in everything they did.
In the world of Kamen Rider Agito, the Dark God created not only the entire world but also the White God and humanity. The White God, filled with compassion for humans, bestowed some of his divine power upon them, giving certain individuals the chance to evolve into superhumans. These individuals, capable of evolving, were also referred to as Kamen Riders Agito.
However, the Dark God was displeased with this development and dispatched the Jackal Lords to eliminate all Kamen Riders Agito and any humans who had the potential to awaken as one.
In the world of Kamen Rider Agito, the Jackal Lords only had one goal: to fulfill the will of the Dark God by eradicating those with the potential to become Kamen Riders Agito.
In this context, normal humans were completely safe from the attacks of the Jackal Lords.
As for the Jackal Lord currently in front of them, it possessed the characteristics of a wolf, such as incredible agility and razor-sharp claws that could easily cut through even solid rock. However, its most formidable weapon was the massive scythe it held, known as “Judgment.”
Wherever this scythe passed, it created a vacuum that could suffocate and kill anyone caught within it.
Tian Mi, witnessing Li Ling’er’s injury, asked with concern, “Ling’er, are you okay?”
Li Ling’er’s face turned pale from the pain, but she still covered her injured shoulder and said firmly, “I’m fine, Tian Mi. This Jackal Lord seems really powerful. Be cautious and stay alert!”
“Got it! He dared to harm you; I won’t let him off!” Tian Mi declared, and with a swift motion of her hands at her waist, a blinding light erupted.
