Chapter 18: All the heals
After a moment in which he felt like an idiot, he figured out a way to get through this. Lisa may not have a functioning phone but Tammi did. All he had to do was wait for her to text him the location.
Lisa seemed to get a kick out of him being caught on the backfoot but from her perspective he had been in control the entire time. He was playing up the Thinker who knew too much after all.
Once she was able to get a handle on herself she told him where the undersiders hideout was and what she wanted from it. She also told him about a safe hole that she had that was a bit more private but was certainly being monitored with countless bugs and cameras. Honestly, her safe space being monitored so heavily was the main reason she enjoyed watching people on the boardwalk during the day.
It was public sure but in comparison to feeling like there was someone watching her every breath it was pleasant. Cole agreed to vist and pick up everything she asked of him. He was also determined to get some other things but she did not need to know that.
He watched the two girls leave the park with a calm smile on his face. He truly wondered if Lisa was going to play ball or if he was going to need to take more drastic actions.
He was fairly confident in his own observation of Lisa but he could certainly be wrong. He really did think Lisa would be good for Tammi but at the same time, he was not naive. He sent a clone to follow them in the shadows. With Blank and his own skills, Lisa had absolutely no chance of finding it and it would put her in a more off-guard position.
It was kind of pushing it considering his lack-luster cursed energy pool but it should be fine as long as he did not swap locations constantly. But he felt a whole lot better with that clone watching them.
If she was going to push the trust that he just gave her then his clone would take care of it.
Honestly, if Cole could offer half of that caution in his previous actions he would not be in such an odd mess. Kaito was a master thief but at the same time, he was also rather reckless. Add that to his own urgent need to do something about Tammi and he pushed himself into the public eye.
Whatever, he can't change the past. All he really needed was time to grow and with the energy Lisa gave him, he would take the next step.
His poor cursed energy pool was always going to be a massive demerit. Sure, his current technique was not exactly stellar but he had access to countless others. So building on his base would be a good use of the energy that Lisa gave him.

[The Theft System has stolen the Cursed Energy Container of Ryomen Sukuna.]
[Comment from Victim: ...what? How would that even be possible!? WHO DARES!?]
[Would the user like to leave a comment?]
Cole let out a light smile at that. He targeted the largest Cursed Energy Container as he wanted the very best but it figured it was Sukuna who had it. The main character of Sukuna Kaisen needed to have the very best after all.
He did not even feel bad about stealing it. Sukuna would cause massive amounts of damage to innocents for his own monstrous nature. Taking away that ability for him to even be the very best must be the ultimate insult, which was supremely justified.
Cole was unsure how this would affect Yuji but if the kid had all the facts he was sure that Yuji would jump behind this plan. Although, not having Sukuna as a trump card might end up with a different tragedy happening but Mr. Nah I'd Win should be able to take care of it.
For once Cole decided to leave a comment as Sukuna deserved the mockery and looking at his energy pool this was not the last thing he would steal from Sukuna.
[Comment from user: Awww did the big bad cursed sprite get a boo boo. Well, shit is about to get even worse for you jackass.]
Cole left the comment feeling smug. Sure, making enemies like this was unwise but Sukuna was a dick head and he made a great target for the Theft System.
As soon as he left that comment he received the stolen container. Before he even knew it it merged with his body. It was an odd fucking feeling. It rushed into his body making him feel like he was about to burst from the pressure underneath his skin but it quickly found his own container.
Cole's container tried to swallow Sukuna's but it was not nearly big enough. So he felt his soul tremble as his Container expanded from the pressure being placed on it by Sukuna's Container. Which was a completely different feeling and he would honestly prefer the previous body pressure.
It was long and arduous considering how small his Container was in comparison to Sukuna's but eventually, it stopped. He still clutched onto his stomach in discomfort but the boiling sea of power at his fingertips took the major bite out of that pain.
Before his pool of energy felt large enough to him even if he knew it was lacking but that comparison to a sea was really accurate here.
He could probably throw thousands of perfect clones running around while swapping with any number of them as he pleased now. Beyond that, the sheer force he could produce by just throwing energy at something was baffling.
Doing that was a bit more difficult as he did not have the control over this energy that Sukuna had but he would learn…that or he would steal it eventually. For now, this handicap did not affect his innate technique so it should be fine.
He had something he wanted to steal from Sukuna even more.

[The Theft System has stolen Ryomen Sukuna's Mastery of RCT.]
[Commet from Victim: YOU FILTHY VERMIN! YOU DARE STEAL FROM ME AGAIN! I WILL FEAST ON YOUR ORGANS AS I SNAP YOUR BONES OVER AND OVER AGAIN! JUST YOU WAIT MONGREL THIS IS NOT OVER!]
[Would you like to leave a comment?]
Cole actually laughed at his reaction this time. He was tempted to leave another mocking message but he figured the silence would irritate Sukuna even more. Treating him as nothing more than a bank of tricks to steal from would drive the mad man well even madder.
Cole could have stolen his ability to manipulate cursed energy at his current energy levels but RCT was far more valuable. Gojo could survive a literal knife to his brain with RCT and Sukuna had brought others back from the dead using the same thing. Well, kind of. It might not make him completely and utterly immortal but it would be a massive step in the right direction.
Couple that with his ability to spam clones all over the world and his worry about his safety has taken a massive dip. The only reason Sukuna lost at the end was because of Soul damage, the man might as well be immortal in any other case.
Now that skill was his to control. He could also expand the clone technique by using the RCT. The original skill let him create perfect clones of himself that he could swap with. What would be the exact opposite of that?
Well, it should be easy to find out.
He let the system close the current theft and he was greeted with the newfound skill shoving itself into his head. It was not as violent as the massive information Kaito gave him but it still gave him a headache. Thankfully he was able to take care of that instantly with RCT.
The rush of positive energy flooded his frame. It was honestly exhilarating. Far beyond the high most people would experience on the highest of uppers. He quickly stopped it even if it felt so good.
As the energy stopped flowing he felt tempted to do it again but held back on it. Getting addicted to his own power would be foolish. Sure, technically flooding his body with positive energy would only have benefits but being in that sort of elation constantly would only lead to dumb actions.
He had enough problems with that already. There was no need to become an addict to RCT.
Cole let out a frown as he sat on the bench. Trying to get a handle on himself. It took a few long moments of calm but he was able to do it. Cole flicked through the ability that he gained when he reversed his innate technique.
He felt his lips twitch as the technique was both a solution to his high and an avoidance of dealing with it. He could now absorb any copies that he had made to heal himself into a perfect state. Of course, he could not consume a clone he just made as they would have the same injuries but as long as a single previous clone remained he could bring himself back up to peak condition….including bolstering his Cursed Energy Pool back up.
Honestly, the heal they provided might be even better than the RCT as soul wounds could be healed faster. Not that he thought soul damage would be a massive risk here.
It's kind of funny that he had access to a perfect heal only when he already gained a massive healing factor. Well, this heal would only work on him but RCT can be used to heal others.
After that, he ran through the reverse of the Decay technique and he felt his lips twitch as he got the information. He could now inflict a Regeneration factor into targets using his technique.
That presented an interesting opportunity. He could claim that he did in fact trigger and use his healing ability to show off. He could officially join the PRT and have them off of his neck and they would even be baffled at who the previous thief was. He could continue his thefts with clones and it would honestly be a perfect alibi.
Something to think about.
