Chapter 11: Ghost!!!
"Alright, alright, it's already late and if you continue to fight, you won't be able to get back in time," Silas said as he held the two children's fist.
He's older than them and had practiced much longer, so naturally his strength was also better.
Leon snorted but he still listened to Silas. After all, Silas is his cousin that he respected the most in his family.
"Right, we also have to get back." Evan glanced at Aya, who nodded her head.
The four children then bid their farewell and went back to their respective homes.
"Say, Aya, can I defeat you if I use the inheritance magic?" Evan suddenly asked. In their daily physical training, Aya always beat up Evan. It seemed to be so easy for Aya to beat Evan up, making Evan wonder if he was really that weak.
Aya arched her eyebrows and thought about the inheritance magic that Evan had learned.
While the inheritance magic could indeed allow one to become stronger after they activated or awakened it, it would not be instantaneous. They still have to practice and develop their ability until it truly becomes their own.
And the current Evan…
It was still very weak.
"No," Aya replied simply.
"Ahhh, so it means I'm still too weak." Evan sighed. "But when I truly master my inheritance ability, I'll fight you for real!"
Aya glanced at Evan and then at her own 'system' that she made. Well, when Evan truly master his ability, she might have evolved her own inheritance ability. With this 'cheating system' she made with her inheritance ability, she was basically training 24 hours a day.
There was no need for her to practice on her own if she didn't want it.
But she didn't say anything to Evan.
There was no need to discourage this boy.
When they came back, Patriarch White and his brother were already waiting for them. Looking at their expression, Evan gulped down and instinctively wanted to escape. He has been beaten up several times by his father when he paid a visit to the children from the Black Family even if it was only for practice.
"You boy." Evan's father sighed. "Come with me and it's time to check your progress. During your banquet, you'll need to seal your magic temporarily."
"Ah?" Evan was confused but he nodded dumbly.
Aya knew what her uncle meant.
There were some people with perceptive magic who may notice that Evan was special when they saw how grand the birthday banquet for Evan was. He was only 5 years old, but the birthday banquet was so grand as if it was the patriarch himself who had his birthday.
So they might use magic invisibly to Evan.
The young Evan's magic was simply not enough to block them.
Rather than letting them see Evan's inheritance magic, it would be better to seal it.
There was also sealing magic in this world and it could be considered as a special kind of magic since it mostly relies on understanding rather than talent.
But then again, not many magicians have a high understanding either.
"Aya, you go back and practice," Patriarch White also said when he saw his daughter.
"Yes, Father," Aya replied and went to her room.
Patriarch White looked at Aya's back and then at his brother's son. He sighed invisibly as he felt that his own daughter was not as talented as his brother's son. There was no gender distinction on who became the family's head and mostly about talent.
So far, the most talented one in the White Family is Evan.
Patriarch White felt a bit worried about this.
He could only hope that his daughter's magic talent would be better than his nephew. After all, Aya had only reached 4 years old and would be introduced to mana in a few days after Evan's birthday celebration.
…
In the next few days, Aya had her basic physical training and afterwards, she would return to her room and rest. Looking at her father who was so busy every single day, Aya guessed that he was helping out the birthday celebration.
But upon hearing that the war negotiation was not done yet… Aya's expression turned strange.
It seemed that the patriarchs from various big families in Wansu City were all called including Patriarch White. They all had to participate in the negotiation.
But this was not something Aya had to concern herself.
She just had to train.
Until it was time for her brother's birthday celebration party and she was called by her father.
Aya followed obediently and when she saw the food, she was simply busy eating. On the other hand, Evan was brought out to meet with other people, the guests who came to his birthday banquet. There were also a few people from the Black Family.
It seemed that because of Evan's relationship with Silas and Leon, they were allowed to come in and participate.
But not many people were there, though.
Aya ate the food and then lowered her head again.
…
The sky was really dark tonight.
In this darkness, a figure was walking forward. He felt that the Heaven was really helping him. There were many patrol officers who were patrolling the Wansu City. It was hard for him to stay hidden all the time from them.
Thankfully, he was not far from the White Family Residence.
He sneaked around under the shadow, observing the surroundings and planned the route to avoid the sentries who come patrolling.
At this moment, there was a figure walking on the street.
He immediately noticed it and become alert. How could there be anyone at the street at this time?
Is it patrol?
But that was not right. Patrols were usually carried out in teams and it was impossible for a person to patrol alone.
As he was contemplating, he saw the figure coming in his direction.
Was he discovered?
He hid himself deeper.
The clouds on the sky parted a bit, allowing the light reflected by the moon to bring a glimmer of light in this dark night.
With this ray of moonlight, the man in black finally saw the appearance of this black figure.
Instantly, his hair stood up.
This is not a human being but a black shadow monster in human shape.
Ghost?
Wansu is haunted!
