Chapter 6: Shadow Magic

"Show us?" Evan repeated. "A spar?"

"No, let's train together?" Silas answered and at the same time looked at Evan and Aya. The two children were still very young and it was estimated that they had only started learning basic physical skills. They might not even know any magic spells that they could use.

He himself didn't have that much mana but it was definitely more than these two young children.

"Ok."

The three children made their way to the training grounds.

The adults didn't pay much attention to them. This city could be said to be quite safe with several police officers patrolling every hour. Moreover, these police officers were all magic warriors.

If ordinary people wanted to commit crimes…

Hehehe, they had to think whether they could survive first or not.

So it was quite common to see the children running around in the city.

There were also many public training grounds for these warrior mages. Of course, for many magic families, these training grounds didn't have much use. Because many of them have skills they didn't want to show to others, so they would not come here in the slightest bit.

Wouldn't it be better for them to stay in their family's training ground?

The few people who would come here were usually the commoners and other children who had friends from various other families.

After all, it was not that easy to bring their friends into their family's compound if they were not close to each other.

"How do you usually train?" Silas asked.

The difference in their magic attributes would also result in the differences in their way of training. Silas had heard his elders told him about this when he was young.

"It's mostly just exercising," Evan replied. "I have finished today's training, though. Let's have a spear instead?"

Seeing Evan was so eager to fight, Silas could only nod.

Of course…

The result was an unilateral beating.

Aya's eyelids kept on twitching when she saw her cousin was being beaten up. However, she chose not to stop them.

It was Evan who asked for trouble anyway.

She didn't want to get involved.

Bang!

After a while, Evan could no longer stand up.

Silas had controlled his strength. After all, he himself was several years older than these two and this spar was indeed not fair from the very beginning.

"Are you alright?"

"I'm… still alive."

Silas looked at Evan helplessly and then turned around. He found Aya's silver eyes were looking in his direction directly. Her eyes looked very beautiful and mysterious at the same time. For some reasons, Silas had the feeling of being seen through by Aya.

"Can you show your shadow magic?"

Hearing the sudden question from Aya, Silas was quite surprised.

Evan, who was lying on the ground, immediately hopped back when he heard what Aya said. "Cousin, it's not very polite to ask someone to show their inheritance magic!"

His family taught him that every family's inheritance magic was a secret. These magics were made in accordance to the physique for certain families and had to be awakened by themselves. Other people couldn't use it.

But at the same time, the specific ability for people who awakened these inheritance magics were different from one after another.

It was also because of these details that those who had awakened the inheritance magic didn't usually speak out loud.

Well… except for some idiots.

But that was another case altogether.

Aya blinked her eyes. "My apologies. I was curious, Brother Silas."

Silas looked at Aya who was being reprimanded by Evan and he couldn't help but smile slightly. "Don't worry, the common shadow magic can be shown to others."

With that, he raised his hand and the shadow under his feet started to move.

This was the basic move for those who awakened their inheritance magic in the Black Family, which was shadow control.

Through controlling their own shadow, they could use it for various things.

Of course, this was the most basic use.

There were many other practical uses after centuries or even decades of evolution and growth.

"It's cool." Aya's eyes lit up.

Even if it was the most basic skill, she could see Silas's fine control of the mana and the movement of the shadow. He was truly worthy of the name genius.

In this current time, the training set was far behind from Aya's era.

If they wanted to learn this much, they had to rely more on talent.

"What's so cool about it? When we learn the magic skills, I'll show you a cooler skill," Evan muttered under his breath.

He didn't feel that there was anything cool with Silas' move.

After all, Evan knew that this was only the most basic operation.

"The principle for moving the shadow is relatively simple. But without the bloodline of my Black Family, you wouldn't be able to learn it," Silas said with a bit of apologetic tone.

"I just want to see it," Aya immediately said.

"I know that," Evan replied.

After that, the three children talked a bit more about the skills before Silas left. He had some other things to do and had no time to accompany Aya and Evan.
