Chapter 6: Scepter
I cry like a child. Not a child. Never will be. No, no. I try to quiet down, barely able to breathe. He looks at my face and leads me to a mirror, harshly. I look at myself. I look..
I look like a girl.
Just like the one I saw. Somehow, I was always like her, now that I notice. Just the eyes and hairs. 'You look like her' he says. What? The first thing that comes out my mouth is 'My mother?'
'No!' he spits. 'Do no speak of impure things. Not now, after you have seen.' His words hit harder than expected. 'Let me see...' he says and pulls my shirt up. Nobody has done that before. He traces every crease and bend, and stops at my chest. What?
My body hurts yet again and I yelp every time he jabs his finger into my abdomen, as if trying to find a rune. I see the girl behind him, and my eyes widen. She smiles, and her eyes narrow. I want to kill her. I want to kill everyone. I push the man back and he falls. Pulling my shirt into place, anger takes over me. I have done this once. And I will do it again.
I take a scepter, pure gold and shining and dive the pointed edge into him.
I pull it back, and thrust it again. And again, and again, and again. Until I am splattered with his blood, head to toe. This is... Exhilarating. I pant and look at him. He slips away, gradually into the void. The pain has stopped. I am free. At last. I.. I..
I have killed a man. Again.
I stand up and run, as fast as my limbs take me. The whole world seems to be frozen in time. Strangely, no one moves. I run for the first time, out of the House, out of the Garden. Out to the World.
Never to return again.
