Chapter 13: Chapter 0013: Carrying Up to the Thirteenth Floor
Qin Xiaonan lived in an apartment on the thirteenth floor, and Ye Wudao, the fellow who didn't know how to use elevators, ended up carrying both Qin Xiaonan and her bicycle, running up the stairs to the thirteenth floor without even taking a breath. The thirteen flights of stairs, hundreds of steps, seemed a piece of cake for him.
Poor Qin Xiaonan was shaken until her face turned green. As soon as they got back to the apartment, she began to throw up violently until her bile was almost depleted. With her eyes brimming with tears, she looked pitiful. If she could move, the first thing she would probably do would be to find a fruit knife in the living room and cut Ye Wudao off.
Fortunately, Qin Xiaonan could not move at all. Any small movement caused her ankle to throb with excruciating pain. She saw Ye Wudao carefully open the rattan box he brought, take out a jar, and scoop out some black, muddy-looking substance with his hand.
"What... what are you going to do?" Qin Xiaonan asked with some fear as she saw Ye Wudao approaching.
"I'm treating your foot injury. Injuries to tendons and bones take a hundred days to heal. If you don't get treated, I'm afraid you won't be able to walk for three months," Ye Wudao replied casually.
"What? Can't walk for three months? No, no! I have to go to work at the company tomorrow."
As soon as Qin Xiaonan heard Ye Wudao mention she wouldn't be able to walk for three months, she immediately forgot about the pain in her ankle. The company was going through a critical period, and if she didn't go to work, she would be fired in less than three days, let alone three months.
"Don't worry, with my treatment, I guarantee you'll be hopping around by tomorrow," Ye Wudao said confidently.
Qin Xiaonan was not stunningly beautiful, and there were a few small freckles on her face. She also wore a pair of big, black-framed glasses every day, making her look like Arale from the comics.
Although it was just treating an injury, being alone together as a man and a woman still seemed a little improper, and the atmosphere in the room became somewhat weird. Qin Xiaonan's face had already turned red with no end in sight from Ye Wudao massaging her foot.
"Don't move around. Just endure it for a bit. If you can't go to work tomorrow, don't blame me," Ye Wudao said as he finished the last rubbing motion and finally let go of her foot.
Ye Wudao's warning indeed made Qin Xiaonan afraid to move. She had to bear the pain bitterly. At that moment, she heard Ye Wudao speak, "Alright, your foot injury should be fine now. Have a good rest tonight, and you'll be back to normal by tomorrow morning."
Qin Xiaonan flexed her foot and realized there wasn't the excruciating pain as before. She was so excited that she immediately stood up, but she still grimaced, finding that any larger movements still caused pain in her ankle.
"Serves you right, I told you not to move. Did you think it was some miracle cure that would work the instant it was applied?" Ye Wudao teased her.
"Then... then if I don't move, how am I supposed to shower and sleep tonight? It's all your fault. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have sprained my ankle."
Qin Xiaonan's excitement extinguished immediately when she saw Ye Wudao, the cause of her misfortune, and she became so frustrated that she felt like strangling him. Especially remembering how he had carried her on his shoulder, bumping all the way up to the thirteenth floor. Even now, her stomach was still churning violently, wishing she could just kill the man.
"Broad, to be reasonable, it was you who bumped into me, not the other way around. How can you blame me?" Ye Wudao said, finding the situation both funny and frustrating.
"I don't care; it's all because of you that I got hurt. Running into you is like suffering through eight lifetimes of bad luck," Qin Xiaonan raged, recalling all of Ye Wudao's terrible behaviors and waving her fists angrily at him.
The first time she encountered him, Qin Xiaonan bumped into a glass door and spilled milk tea all over herself, looking utterly embarrassed, and even got dubbed 'Broad' by him.
The second encounter involved following Song Yuhan's instructions to take this bumpkin to buy clothes, where she attracted strange looks from passersby and wished she could just disappear, preferring not to face the world anymore.
This third encounter was even worse; she not only sprained her ankle but was also carried on his shoulder through the streets. This bumpkin, who had an elevator at his disposal, chose instead to carry her all the way up to the thirteenth floor.
Thinking about it made Qin Xiaonan feel the stomach acid rising again. She hurriedly hobbled to the bathroom to violently throw up once more, with the sound of her retching occasionally echoing from the room.
