Chapter 339: Chapter 339: The Shattered Bifrost

With a humming sound, just as Loki's body was violently thrust away, a rainbow-colored light suddenly appeared in the sky, causing Robert, who was about to deliver a fatal blow to Loki, to pause.

"What is this?" Robert furrowed his brow, warily observing the rainbow light in the sky, only to realize that the beam wasn't aimed at him but was hitting Loki, who had just been blasted away by him.

"Hmm? Spatial power? Trying to escape? Not so easy!" Quickly, Robert recognized the familiar aspect of the light, similar to the Guardian's portal. Anger flicked through his eyes as he launched a powerful energy wave directly at the direction of the Bifrost.

With a crack, the Bifrost, which had just enveloped Loki, hadn't yet transported him back to Asgard when it was abruptly severed by Robert's attack. The bridge's power faltered, and then Robert struck again, this time his energy wave hitting Loki directly.

With a grunt, Loki was expelled from the Bifrost. To Robert's surprise, Loki didn't reappear on Earth but vanished into a void, disappearing entirely.

"What the hell?" A flicker of confusion crossed Robert's eyes. He then realized that the Bifrost might be a kind of spatial conduit. It seemed Loki was between the Earth and Asgard in a spatial channel. With Loki knocked out of the channel, he was lost in spatial turbulence, whisked away to an unknown location.

The disruption of the Bifrost's power completely cut off the spatial forces, and Loki could no longer use the pathway back to his original location on Earth. Robert had inadvertently mishandled the severance of the Bifrost.

Despite this being his first encounter with the Bifrost, Robert recognized that it shared similarities with the Guardians' portal, yet it was not entirely the same.

Of course, Robert wasn't entirely sure that the Bifrost was directly linked to Asgard; he was only making an educated guess based on the information at hand.

"Loki?!" On the other end of the Bifrost, Heimdall watched in disbelief towards Earth, anger flashing in his eyes. Even if he disliked Loki, Loki was still Asgard's acting king, and Heimdall certainly didn't want to see him in trouble.

Now, with Loki knocked out of the Bifrost into the chaos of spatial currents, his whereabouts unknown, even Heimdall's special vision couldn't quickly locate Loki throughout the universe.

If Loki had been in a normal state, Heimdall wouldn't have been so concerned. But with Loki first charred by Robert's explosive flames and then blasted out of the Bifrost, severely injured, Heimdall worried that Loki might die lost in the spatial turbulence.

"How could this be?" Heimdall was momentarily at a loss. Previously, he had helped Sif and others to travel to Earth to help Thor recover his memory without realizing Loki's situation due to Loki's invisibility.

Heimdall didn't know King Odin's exact plans, but he didn't want to see Thor in his current state either. Since Odin had not stopped him, Heimdall assumed he hadn't done anything wrong.

However, Heimdall hadn't expected that just as he had sent Sif and the others to Earth, he would discover that the Loki in Asgard's palace had vanished. Then, he saw Loki clash with Kara on Earth, using the Ice Box to freeze Kara, seemingly gaining the upper hand.

Thus, Heimdall didn't contact Loki immediately, partly glad to see Loki struggle a bit.

But things escalated too quickly for Heimdall to react. When he saw Robert intervene and critically injure Loki in a blink, he knew he couldn't just stand by and watch.

Under Heimdall's control, the Bifrost wrapped around Loki, trying to bring him back to Asgard, but Robert's power was greater than Heimdall had anticipated. He had the ability to destroy the Bifrost, and not only did he sever its power, he inflicted another grave injury on Loki, causing him to disappear, his fate uncertain.

With a humming sound, back in Asgard, the previously feigning sleep King Odin could no longer pretend. He had planned to awaken once Thor had completed his trials, but now with Loki in trouble and the Eternal Spear standing alone in the palace, Odin was forced to wake.

As Odin awakened, the skies of Asgard grew tense, his rage surging. Even though he knew of Robert's relationship with Kara and Clark, Odin's fury was hard to contain.

Because to Odin, Loki was truly like a son. Thousands of years of upbringing weren't just for show. Even if Odin didn't see Loki as suitable to be king of Asgard, that didn't mean outsiders could freely harm or even kill Loki.

"Have you found Loki's location yet?" King Odin, picking up the Eternal

Spear, suddenly appeared beside Heimdall and asked sternly.

"Not yet. I've scanned the solar system and the Milky Way, but there's no sign of Loki," Heimdall replied without surprise, knowing Odin well enough to anticipate his reactions despite his transformations over the years.

"Keep looking!" Odin's eyes flashed coldly, his divine power surging into Heimdall, significantly boosting his abilities.

As Odin's power, known as the "Odinforce," flowed into Heimdall, his already formidable vision intensified. Time was of the essence, and if Loki wasn't found soon, he might truly be beyond saving.

Thus, King Odin had no time to seek out Robert and Kara for retribution. His priority was to locate and retrieve Loki, considering the vastness of the universe and the dangers a severely injured Loki might encounter.

Meanwhile, on Earth, Robert looked at the vanished Bifrost, his brow furrowed, but he didn't pursue the mystery of its disappearance. Instead, he approached Kara, still encased in ice, appearing life-like.

Robert could feel that Kara's essence remained strong, merely sealed away, which reassured him.

With a swish, Clark appeared beside Robert and Kara, his brow furrowed, asking softly, "What happened? How did Kara get frozen?"

Like Heimdall, Clark hadn't been closely monitoring Robert's side until he noticed the turmoil when Robert was about to kill Loki. From what followed, Clark could deduce what Kara had endured.

"Such cold…" Nearby, Pietro curiously attempted to pick up the Ice Box, but yelped and recoiled as his fingers frosted over from the intense cold.

Loki had lost control of the Ice Box during his clash with Robert, leaving it to fall to the ground and slightly freeze the surrounding area.

"Was that some kind of blue elf using that box to seal Kara away? That blue elf wasn't Thor, was it?" Robert glanced at Pietro's antics, then carefully began melting the ice encasing Kara, not using his explosive flames but gently thawing the frost.

"He wasn't Thor, and we don't know where he's from…" Clark shook his head, watching Robert melt the ice without rushing him. Clark felt somewhat helpless; although he hadn't witnessed Loki's meeting with Thor, he surmised that Loki might also be from Asgard. Now, with this conflict escalating and no word from King Odin, the situation seemed fraught with complications.

Robert, unaware of Clark's thoughts and focusing on the ice, noted that this ice was different from natural winter ice. It was denser and continually emitted a chilling aura, which explained why Kara couldn't quickly break free from her icy prison.

With a crack, eventually, as the ice melted to a sufficient degree, Kara shattered the remaining ice, regaining her freedom.

"Such terrifying power. I thought I was going to be stuck in there forever!" Kara exclaimed, patting her chest with relief, "Hmm? Where did that guy go? Did you kill him? Who was he exactly?"

"I don't know who he was. He almost got away, but fortunately, I knocked him out of that rainbow light. He's disappeared, but I don't think he was taken away…" Robert shook his head, recounting the events to Kara after she had been frozen.

"Heehee, I heard your commotion at first, but then my consciousness kind of paused..." Kara giggled softly, looking at Robert, "You did well. I'm very satisfied!"

"No, I just did what I had to," Robert replied, shaking his head modestly, a hint of regret in his voice, "It's a pity I couldn't finish him off for you. This time I didn't understand what that rainbow light was all about. Next time I encounter it, I'll know how to handle it..."

"If that rainbow light appears again, you'll need to be ready for a fight..." Clark sighed, looking at the determined Robert.

"What do you mean? Do you know what that rainbow light was?" Robert looked puzzled.

"It was likely the Bifrost of Asgard..." Clark's eyes flickered slightly. Since establishing contact with King Odin and agreeing to help look after Thor, Clark had researched a lot about Asgardian mythology. Based on Robert's description, Clark believed the rainbow light was indeed the legendary Bifrost.

"Are the people of Asgard crazy? Sneaking over to take the hammer, are they trying to retrieve Mjolnir? Just say so. We're not going to keep it…" Robert rolled his eyes, frustrated by the secrecy. Unable to lift Mjolnir was one thing, but to attack them out of frustration after being discovered was something Robert found unacceptable. Even now, he regretted not killing Loki.

"Perhaps something we don't know happened..." Clark sighed softly, looking in Thor's direction.

"No matter what happened, he had no right to attack Kara!" Robert was adamant, not

caring if his actions might make Asgard an enemy. Respect was mutual; if Asgard didn't show respect, even if they were gods, Robert wasn't afraid!

Besides, not every deity was formidable. From what Robert knew of Thor and Loki's capabilities, the only real threat from Asgard seemed to be King Odin...

"So what if they are gods? Does Asgard still think it's an era where gods rule Earth? Don't worry, Robert, we'll stand with you!" Pietro moved beside Robert, first speaking seriously and then smiling ingratiatingly, "Um, Robert, could you help treat me? My fingers hurt a bit. Is it frostbite? If we don't treat it, could my fingers fall off?"
