Chapter 366: Chapter 366: Kara's Confrontation
General Ika quickly realized he had been wrong. If someone really killed him, he wouldn't even have the chance to meet General Bart and General Samo, as their deaths meant true obliteration—complete eradication of their consciousness and soul from this world.
This realization sent a shiver down General Ika's spine as he envisioned his own possible eradication.
"No! This can't happen! I must do something to change all this!" General Ika was unwilling to accept such a fate. His masked form trembled uncontrollably, but he quickly realized he lacked any means or power to alter his impending doom.
After all, if he didn't even know who his enemy was, how could he possibly change anything?
"Panicking won't help; the more you know about your enemy, the better your chances of confronting him, or surviving him..." Originally, Batman hadn't intended to comfort General Ika, but seeing his struggle, he paused and spoke firmly.
"You make it sound easy. How am I supposed to learn anything about such an unknown enemy?" General Ika snapped out of his daze at Batman's words. Although what Batman said made sense, understanding it and acting on it to resolve the issue with this unknown enemy were worlds apart.
"You control so many Shadow Soldiers. Just have them stay hidden in the shadows, gathering the information you need without engaging. Surely, you don't need me to teach you how to use the power of the dark dimension?" Batman shook his head.
"If you've decided to fight back, then take action. Mere talk here changes nothing. Without action, the outcome will never alter, but if you act, there might still be a chance for survival."
Hearing Batman's advice, General Ika gradually calmed down and started mobilizing the Shadow Soldiers, who spread not only across Gotham but also beyond, seeking any useful information.
Batman was unconcerned about the Shadow Soldiers being deployed beyond Gotham, not affecting their ability to protect the city. With the Ika mask, both Batman and General Ika himself could control the Shadow Soldiers, whose numbers were virtually endless.
However, an important factor was that Joker seemed to have vanished from Batman's world. Initially, Batman felt uneasy when he realized Joker was missing, as aside from the time Ika General left Gotham, Joker had never been absent for so long...
Gradually, Batman adjusted, knowing Gotham would continue with or without Joker. Even with Shadow Soldiers helping to monitor, crime persisted in Gotham.
After all, Batman didn't want to surveil every individual in Gotham directly, as it would go against his principles and create a more oppressive, less free society, which he didn't want to see.
Thus, gang members and supervillains quickly figured out the behavior patterns of the Shadow Soldiers and resumed their activities. Without the cat-and-mouse games with Joker and now under the pressure of the Shadow Soldiers and demons, crime in Gotham not only failed to decrease but actually began to rise as the intense conditions drove many to madness and crime...
Where was Joker at this time? Unfortunately, he was still unable to control his body or, more accurately, his consciousness was completely suppressed by Mephisto's, leaving him waiting for an opportunity to turn the tables.
As for Mephisto, it seemed like he was doing nothing, merely wandering the world. In reality, he was reconnecting with the things he wanted to know through Joker's body.
Because previously, Mephisto had only incarnated on Earth, unable to use any real power. The only time he was provoked to use his power, he hadn't succeeded against Robert. To avoid further losses, Mephisto shamelessly chose to flee, not showing the demeanor expected of a powerful being...
Since he hadn't truly allowed his power to descend to Earth before, Mephisto only knew his targets were on Earth but needed to re-establish where they were now and if there were any new developments.
For a being as powerful as Mephisto, time had little meaning, especially since he felt his plans hadn't been exposed yet. He wasn't worried about anyone thwarting them, so there was no need to hurry...
Robert, who had recently dealt with General Samo, was now uncertain where to go.
Ordinarily, he should return home to discuss his experience in Asgard with Kara. However, after considering that he owed more to Diana due to the lesser amount of time spent with her, Robert thought maybe he should spend more time with her instead.
After some indecision, Robert chose to go home first to talk things over with Kara, particularly since he didn't sense Clark's presence, and Kara and the Kents were still at home, not having disappeared to the wilderness island.
Curious about Clark's sudden disappearance but not overly worried—Clark's strength was not something he needed to be concerned about unless he had reached the level of turning into a Super Saiyan.
Robert had some regrets about returning from his
rage-induced mimic state because it was a perfect opportunity to surpass Clark.
Considering how his Giant Ape Fury power was borderline too powerful, his current combat abilities barely qualified him for transforming into a Super Saiyan, which was at a skyfather level, on par with Frigga, the Queen of Asgard.
His transformation into a mimic state during the peak of his Giant Ape Fury had reached Super Saiyan level and was nearly higher, almost surpassing Clark.
It was like Goku transforming into a Super Saiyan while using Kaio-ken, retaining the power boost from Kaio-ken in addition to his transformation—undoubtedly overpowered.
Perhaps Clark was seeking to enhance his own strength because he sensed Robert catching up...
"Kara!" Between the Kent Farm and the Danvers Farm, Robert appeared. Kara, who had been anxiously watching over the area fearing someone might target the Danvers and Kents, quickly perked up at the sound of Robert's voice.
"Robert!" At Robert's call, Kara's tension eased, and she threw herself into his arms.
This was precisely why Robert had chosen to come back first. Given that Clark wasn't at home and seeing Kara's reaction, Robert guessed Clark hadn't returned. If Clark had been there, Kara wouldn't be so visibly anxious.
"It's over, everything's fine now. Both Clark and I are alright..." Robert comforted her with gentle pats on her back.
However, before Robert could finish, Kara sniffed something and her expression turned sour as she stared at Robert, whose own face stiffened.
Despite changing into his battle suit after leaving Diana's place, he hadn't had time to shower after Tony Stark's incident, inevitably carrying Diana's scent.
While most people wouldn't notice, Kara was not most people. She not only detected the scent but identified it as Diana's!
Diana! It was her! Thinking how she had been on edge worrying about Robert's safety, unable to step away, only to find out Robert had been with Diana, carrying not just her perfume but the scent of their intermingled bodily fluids, Kara felt a mix of hurt and outrage.
"Well, listen to my defense... No, I mean, let me explain!" Seeing Kara's expression, Robert quickly realized his blunder, becoming somewhat flustered.
Fortunately, Kara didn't opt for a melodramatic refusal to listen; she simply glared at Robert like a puffed-up blowfish, waiting for his explanation.
"You know Diana helped out with that incident. Frigga's strength was immense, we underestimated the power of Asgard. Both Clark and I truly didn't think there were any strong beings in Asgard besides King Odin..."
"Thor and Loki were quite weak, and our knowledge of the Asgardian gods wasn't comprehensive, so we felt no pressure at the start of the battle..."
"Even though I didn't discuss it with Clark, I'm sure he thought he'd handle Odin while I caused havoc throughout Asgard!"
"But, if it weren't for Diana's arrival, we would've been done for. From Clark's performance, he couldn't gain any advantage against Odin, and Frigga, at a skyfather level, was not only stronger than me but also than Diana, even perhaps stronger than the two of us combined..."
"Skyfather level?" Kara barely grasped the danger of the battle, not fully understanding how powerful Frigga was.
"She's on par with that angel Racheal from before, even more powerful than Carol's normal state, only matched by Carol in her binary form!" Robert quickly gave a detailed breakdown of the power levels.
"Carol's binary form?" But as Robert finished, Kara's brow furrowed, and she asked somewhat displeased, "When did you fight with Carol?"
"Uh..." Caught off guard by Kara's question, Robert hesitated, having been focused on recounting the Asgard battle and forgetting Kara didn't know about his fight with Carol. He awkwardly began, "It happened one time when you weren't around. I was on the wilderness island, and Carol challenged me to a fight. I wasn't her match..."
"Let's focus on this battle for now. Since neither you nor Diana could handle Frigga, how did you win? Or rather, how did you safely return?" Kara eyed Robert sternly, not pressing further about the Carol issue as there were more pressing matters to understand.
"When we were transported to Asgard, I first battled Heimdall while Diana barely held off Frigga long enough for me to act..." Robert's gaze flickered; the battle was not particularly dangerous for him, but for Diana, it was perilously close!
"I defeated Heimdall in the shortest time, blasting him into a spatial maelstrom to disappear, then joined Diana against Frigga. But even together, we didn't have the upper hand, not until a large number of Asgardian soldiers arrived to help. Diana told me to handle the soldiers while
she continued to hold off Frigga..."
"But unexpectedly, while I was still dealing with the Asgardian soldiers, Diana was pierced through the chest by Frigga's blade, her body exploding in part and she fell to the ground, lifeless!"
