Supreme Dragon Seal

Chapter 128: Illusion, Desire And Ambition

Qi Bei opened his eyes and found himself lying on a luxurious bed. Though his thoughts remained hazy, a glimmer of azure flickered in his gaze.

A sense of confusion swept over Qi Bei’s heart, as if a memory had been forcefully erased, leaving an empty void within.

But then, familiar yet unfamiliar memories flashed in his mind. It seemed like they were not his own memories, but they were so real.

Qi Bei, fifth son of the Nord family of the former Golden Leaf Empire, survived in the Undead Mountain Range for ten months before being rescued by his brother Huai’an. He then regained his strength and was given the land of West Spirit City.

With great determination, he fought and defeated the Orcs in five campaigns and conquered the Golden Leaf Empire in ten campaigns, bringing glory to the Nord family. He became the first Emperor of the Heavenly Empire.

Later, Qi Bei conquered the Goths and merged with the Saint Yana Alliance, and established the largest empire in history.

Over a hundred years later, Qi Bei’s strength broke through the Saint level and he intimidated the five Holy Lands with his military might, becoming the lord of the five Holy Lands.

He was exceptional in both civil and military affairs, but he was cruel and ruthless in his pursuit of power.

He had changed over time.

Once, when he ruled West Spirit City, he did so for the good of the people.

But a few years ago, to vent his personal grievances, he massacred hundreds of thousands of civilians in a city.

Once, he was grateful for his brother Huai’an’s selfless brotherly love toward him.

But when attacking the Golden Leaf Empire, he stood by and watched as Huai’an was killed by Emperor Han Mo, showing no emotion.

Once, he was willing to sacrifice his life for a woman he deeply loved.

However, now he casually summons and dismisses the women around him. As long as they possess exceptional Yin attributes, he violently seizes them without any concern for what lies within their hearts.

Once, he highly valued the trusted generals and guards who stood by his side in conquering the world. But now, he cannot bear to hear any opposing words. Anyone who dares to defy him is directly put to death.

As all these memories flashed through Qi Bei’s mind, a cold and cruel curve formed at the corner of his mouth.

With a turn of his head, Qi Bei saw a beautiful girl by his side, her smooth shoulders exposed, still adorned with teardrops even in her slumber. This girl seems to have been snatched by him just a few days ago. But he had too many women to remember their names.

Qi Bei sat up, startling the sleeping girl awake. She looked at him, her gaze filled with both fear and barely concealed hatred.

“Hate me? Haha, I love it when women hate me.” Qi Bei grabbed the girl’s delicate shoulders and forcefully pinched her tender and plump breasts, leaving behind bright red marks.

As the girl let out pitiful moans, an inexplicable sense of pleasure welled up in Qi Bei’s heart. He pushed her down and pressed his body against hers.

The girl bit her lip and closed her beautiful eyes, tears streaming down her face.

As Qi Bei’s lips brushed against the saltiness of the tears on the girl’s face, his malevolent and deranged gaze momentarily flickered with a hint of confusion.

A resilient thought was struggling in his heart.

The girl opened her eyes and looked at Qi Bei, who suddenly froze while lying on top of her.

In Qi Bei’s mind, a beautiful girl sitting in a wheelchair suddenly appeared. Her star-like sparkling eyes had once looked at him with tears in them.

“Xingchen…” Qi Bei muttered to himself. That poisonous body Moon Elf princess, in order to obtain the source of curse that was on her body, he let her curse poison erupt. He had the ability to cure her, yet he let her die. Why did he feel heartbroken when he thought of her?

Qi Bei’s heart suddenly ached. But why did he feel this way? Did he really care so much about her as the Holy Emperor?

Unknowingly, tears fell from Qi Bei’s eyes, which were still filled with evil and brutality. The tears were intertwined with confusion and wrapped around his eyes.

The tears fell on the corner of the girl’s lips, and she tasted the salty taste. It was as if she felt the pain in Qi Bei’s heart in that moment, she reached out her snow-white arms and wanted to hug him voluntarily.

However, Qi Bei jumped off her and put on a robe before walking out coldly.

He came outside the palace to the top of a huge castle that was over a hundred feet high. He looked down from the semicircular protruding balcony, feeling that he had the world in his hands. He could decide who to let live and who to let die. This feeling was truly wonderful.

But why was his heart so lonely?

“Your Highness, West Spirit City is your first territory. Are you really willing to massacre your own people who believe in you?” Iron Head stood in front of Qi Bei, filled with grief and despair. He had followed Qi Bei on his campaigns, and had reached the level of a Heaven-grade expert. But now, for the sake of a rumor about the Nine Nether Gateway, Qi Bei had ordered the slaughter of a million people in West Spirit City.

“Hahaha, Iron Head, those people are just a bunch of ants. If this Emperor wants to kill them, I will. Since they believe in me, so what if they make some sacrifice?” Qi Bei laughed maniacally.

“Your Highness, I beg you to revoke this order.” Iron Head kneeled before Qi Bei.

Qi Bei’s eyes were filled with killing intent as he coldly asked, “You dare to disobey me?”

“I beg of you, Your Highness, revoke this order.” Iron Head looked up at Qi Bei with a desolate expression. He was the last surviving member of the group that had followed Qi Bei in conquering the world. The rest had either died in battle or had been executed by Qi Bei. Living on had lost all meaning for him.

Qi Bei smiled coldly and extended his hand. An invisible hand clasped around Iron Head’s neck.

“Because you have followed me for so many years, I’ll give you a chance to say your last words.” Qi Bei said coldly.

Memories flashed through Iron Head’s mind. He remembered when Qi Bei, with his 250 Black-armored troops, had been surrounded by the Dragon Armor Legion in Green Leaf City. Qi Bei had risked his life to draw the attention of the Dragon Armor Legion and let most of his brothers escape. What courage! What loyalty!

“If I could start over, I would only wish for you to forever be the Lord…” Iron Head said, closing his eyes.

Lord!

A distant title, but it made Qi Bei freeze.

“Don’t call me ‘Young Master.’ Call me ‘Lord.’ It sounds better. Back then, Wei Lord was my idol.”

“Who is Wei Lord?”

“A guy who had seven top-notch beauties as wives.”

“Only seven? Lord, you don’t have high enough standards. You should have at least seventy!” Iron Head joked, causing laughter among the Black-armored soldiers.

Qi Bei’s hands trembled slightly, and a resolute will struggled to break free in his mind. He felt like he was not himself right now, but someone else entirely.

“Get out!” Qi Bei suddenly let go of his hand and shouted, his voice filled with panic, as if he was not himself but another person.

“Lord… Lord… please spare the million people of your city.” Iron Head seemed to sense something and cried out excitedly.

Qi Bei fell silent for a moment, then threw a token and walked away.

“Thank you, Lord! Thank you…!” Iron Head shouted loudly.

……

In the depths of the earth, in a huge swirling vortex of blue magma, an elderly man with a semi-illusory body was trapped in the center of the vortex. And on either side of him, the shadows of a golden dragon and a silver-purple phoenix were rapidly flickering.

Around them, there are already nine hundred and ninety nine dense blue light clusters floating, which are quite spectacular and gorgeous.

“Not bad, kid. Your righteous heart is much stronger than those who have reached the Saint level.” The shadow of the golden dragon laughed.

“The strength of the heart compared to the strength of power is the true strength.” The voice of the silver-purple phoenix shadow was clear and crisp, like that of a young girl.

“I haven’t lost yet, and I won’t.” The old man in the center said confidently.

“Let’s wait and see. I’m rooting for this kid.” The golden dragon said.

“Me too.” The silver-purple phoenix also said.

The old man’s eyes were filled with a cold, eerie blue light. How can human emotions and human hearts resist lust, desire and ambition?

Human nature is despicable, and without the restraint of a moral standard, humans are worse than beasts. Greed, killing, brutality, cowardice, anger, and all the negative factors in the world fill the hearts of humans.

The seeds of ambition can completely stimulate these negative emotions and control a person.

And even if this kid seems to be struggling, he will eventually become addicted again. To take a step back, even if he gradually wakes up, can he let go of his extremely prestigious status, power, and gorgeous women?

Or, he may think he has escaped, but in reality, he can never let go of everything, and he will always be controlled by ambition and live in a world of illusions.

….

When the colorful mist began to spread from the heart of Dragon Phoenix Valley and slowly extended to the entire valley, it meant that the Dragon Phoenix illusions were about to begin.

The new disciples of the major forces who were training outside Dragon Phoenix Valley had already started to retreat. The elders had warned them repeatedly that if they didn’t have the strength of a top-grade Earth-ranked expert, they would be trapped in the illusion and killed by it. Even top-grade Earth-ranked experts only dared to stay at the edge and didn’t dare to go deep into it.

At first, the eight disciples of Heavenly Mountain Peak gathered together to train, but later they scattered.

One female disciple, a King-grade fire mage, held a bewitching magic flute given to her by Yao Rao. When she played it, she could guide the Heavenly Mountain Peak disciples to gather together and find the right path to leave Dragon Phoenix Valley.

Dragon Phoenix Valley was very strange. If one was not extremely familiar with it or did not have this magic flute to lead the way, they could easily get lost and unknowingly wander into the deep areas.

Soon, the Heavenly Mountain Peak disciples gathered together, but Ming Yue was missing.

“Where is Princess Ming Yue? Why hasn’t she come yet?” a male disciple who admired Ming Yue worriedly asked.

“I don’t know. Did she lose her sensing magic stone, or does she think she has the strength to stay in the Dragon Phoenix Visions?” the female disciple who held the magic flute as the leader said discontentedly.

As the colorful mist rolled in and the ethereal melody began to affect their minds and souls, the female leader said, “We’re not waiting anymore. Let’s go back and report to the eighteenth elder. Otherwise, we’ll all die here because of her.”

Surprisingly, none of the male disciples who admired Ming Yue expressed any objections in the face of their life-threatening situation.

Thus, seven Heavenly Mountain Peak disciples withdrew, leaving only Ming Yue alone in the illusions shrouded Dragon Phoenix Valley.

Cowardice and selfishness are also prominent characteristics of human nature.
