Supreme Eyes: Being Adopted by a princess

Chapter 5: Talentless

The room fell completely silent as Adam began his evaluation, a silence that deeply unsettled him since he couldn't see the result.

He didn't have to wait long to learn the outcome. Just a few seconds later, the silence was shattered.

"Ha-ha-ha-ha! You're a complete failure. The orb doesn't even light up. This is the first time I've ever seen something like this," mocked Rilen, laughing.

The other guests couldn't hold back their laughter, though some felt pity for Adam. When it was said that someone had no talent for cultivation, it usually referred to having a white or yellow-grade talent, which practically barred any meaningful progress in cultivation. But someone who literally had no talent at all? That was as rare as awakening a golden talent.

William Blackthorne could only shake his head in frustration. He was already thinking about what to do with Adam. He wouldn't kill him right away because of the apparent connection he had with the princess, but he was certain Adam wouldn't live another day. This disgrace to the Blackthorne family needed to be dealt with as soon as possible. The only solace William found was in the fact that his nephew, Alex, had awakened a talent that would propel the family to power.

Princess Althea had not anticipated such a disastrous outcome either, and she was deeply worried for Adam's safety. She quickly turned to her father, the emperor.

"Father, you must do something. I don't want him to die," Althea said urgently, fearing that the Blackthorne family might act in blind rage.

"The relations between the royal family and the empire's noble families are very strained. I cannot simply dictate what they must do with a member who has dishonored them. I can only assure you they will not kill him," Cedric replied calmly.

Princess Althea had always been doted on by her father due to her potential, which was why he allowed her to interact with Adam despite considering him unworthy of her attention. Of course, Cedric could have ordered that not a single hair on Adam's head be touched or even had him handed over to the royal family. But this situation was perfect for ridding himself of the "vermin" who had approached his daughter while keeping himself in her good graces by "defending" Adam.

Thus, the emperor acted. Through a voice transmission audible only to William and himself, he gave the order:

"Don't kill him directly. Exile him."

William was surprised but quickly began to reflect. I can't defy that bastard; he'd crush me in an instant. Besides, a blind man without cultivation won't last more than a few hours in this world. Once he reached that conclusion, he replied:

"As you wish, Your Highness."

"It's settled," Cedric announced to his daughter.

"Thank you, Father. I love you," said the princess, completely unaware of the truth behind her father's actions, blinded by her innocence.

At the center of the room, Adam stood frozen. Moments ago, he had been speaking with the princess and had even regained a sliver of hope to change his fate, only to lose it all in an instant. He knew he wouldn't have great talent, but this? This was a cruel destiny. His only motivation to keep moving forward had been to prove everyone wrong about him. Now, he no longer had a reason to keep fighting against his condition.

"Maybe the best thing would be to die..." Adam couldn't stop the thoughts he had repressed for so long.

Unbeknownst to anyone, the orb had become completely useless; the energy inside it had disappeared, absorbed by Adam. Not even the emperor noticed, as no one would expect a five-year-old crippled mortal to be capable of absorbing such an immense amount of energy that even a cultivator at the Master stage would be unable to handle without exploding.

With hesitant steps, Adam left the center of the room, this time without using his cane. The crowd moved aside to form a path, though many didn't miss the opportunity to mock him.

When he reached the area where his family was, he was greeted by a familiar voice: Princess Althea.

"Adam, I did what I could. My father assured me they wouldn't kill you," Althea said, trying to comfort him.

Adam nodded, but didn't say a word.

Before Althea could continue, she received a voice transmission from her father.

"It's time to leave."

The princess hesitated. She didn't want to leave Adam alone, but she couldn't disobey her father either.

"I have to go, Adam. I'll get in touch with you somehow," she told him before walking away. Adam stayed silent, not responding.

After Althea left, Adam was intercepted by someone else: Alex, his cousin.

"Weren't you the princess's pet? Looks like she's already tired of you. A cripple with no talent... what did you expect?" Alex said with a mocking smile.

Adam didn't respond. He was too exhausted to defend himself, which only enraged Alex. He raised his fist, ready to strike.

However, just before the blow could reach him, an overwhelming pressure stopped Alex. It came from William Blackthorne, who immobilized him with a single order.

"You can't hit him right now," William said coldly, offering no further explanation.

When the pressure withdrew, Alex stepped back in frustration, but not before giving Adam a look of pure hatred.

Finally, all the members of the Blackthorne family gathered and activated the teleportation matrix, returning to the family mansion.

Once they arrived at the mansion, William called for an urgent meeting with all the high-ranking members of the Blackthorne family. The purpose of the meeting was clear.

Adam was also summoned, though he already had a good idea of what would happen.

Upon entering the meeting room, Adam was forced to stand in front of William and the high-ranking officials.

"Today, we gather here to make a decision on behalf of the Blackthorne family," William declared in a solemn and cold voice.

"Therefore, I declare that Adam Blackthorne will be immediately expelled from the Blackthorne family. His status as Young Master is revoked, and it will be passed on to Young Alex Blackthorne."

Although Alex was not William's son, William chose him as his successor due to his exceptional talent and his good relationship with Alex's father.

Adam couldn't help but smile bitterly and sarcastically when he heard his fate. Being expelled and having Alex take the title of Young Master was nothing more than a cruel joke. If he had the authority, he would have given that order a long time ago.

Adam's smile ignited William's fury.

"BASTARD! DO YOU DARE TO LAUGH AFTER ALL THE TROUBLE YOU'VE CAUSED ME?" William bellowed, addressing him for the first time in a long while.

Suddenly, Adam felt an overwhelming weight, as if a mountain were falling on him. "Ugh!" he groaned as he collapsed to the ground, unable to resist.

"You have no idea how long I've waited for this moment over the last five years," William said with a cruel smile. "You're lucky I can't kill you."

He paused before continuing in an enigmatic tone:

"Let me give you one last gift before we abandon you like an animal."

Crunch!

"Arghhhhh!" Adam screamed as William snapped one of his frail legs like a twig.

"Do you think I'm finished? You won't need your legs where you're going," William said with a deranged look in his eyes.

Crunch!

Adam had never felt such unbearable pain. He couldn't even utter a word; all he could do was writhe under the crushing pressure of his father's cultivation.

When he finally finished, William coldly issued the order:

"Leave him in some forest outside the empire. Let the beasts deal with him."

The two maids who had cared for Adam since his childhood were given the task. They gathered the broken young man and placed him in a carriage heading to the outskirts of the Amberfall empire.
