Surprise! I've Transmigrated Again

Chapter 29: Chapter 029 ⤞ Healing

Shinobu led Adam into the Butterfly Estate.

Upon entering, they encountered a young, beautiful girl standing in front of the house. She gazed into the distance with a vacant, lifeless look in her eyes.

"Kanao, admiring the scenery?" Shinobu greeted the young girl.

The girl turned but remained silent, staring blankly at her. It was unclear whether she had heard the greeting.

Shinobu, accustomed to this behavior, pointed at the girl and introduced her to Adam, "This is Kanao Tsuyuri, my adopted sister. She doesn't speak much for certain reasons. I hope you'll understand, Suoh-kun."

"It's alright." Adam replied with a gentle smile, "Hello, Kanao. I'm Takeshi Suoh."

Unfortunately, Kanao remained expressionless. She merely nodded slightly, uttering no words.

No words, no feelings, no expression…

"Ah, haha..." Shinobu laughed awkwardly, at a loss even herself when faced with Kanao's lack of expression, "Suoh-kun, let's go see Zenitsu and Inosuke now."

After greeting Kanao, she led Adam further inside. Along the way, they encountered Kiyo Terauchi, Sumi Nakahara, and Naho Takada, exchanging brief greetings.

As they approached the room, they heard Zenitsu's frantic protests echoing from within.

"Is this medicine? Is this really medicine?! I won't drink it! I absolutely won't!"

"Come on, be good and drink it quickly!" A sweet yet stern female voice urged.

"No, I refuse!"

"Drink it now!"

"I said I won't!"

Adam couldn't help but chuckle at Zenitsu's over-the-top reaction. The way he was carrying on, you'd think they were trying to feed him liquid lava instead of medicine!

Even as he entered the room, Zenitsu remained steadfast in his refusal to take the medicine.

Shinobu looked at him gently and asked, "Why won't you drink your medicine, Zenitsu?"

"It's too bitter." Zenitsu whined, his face contorted in a pitiful expression, "Isn't there any sweet medicine? I can't stand bitterness."

Aoi Kanzaki glared at him, her teeth gritted in frustration, "How can medicine be sweet? Stop this nonsense and drink it already!"

Adam stepped forward, attempting to reason with him, "Zenitsu, remember — good medicine tastes bitter but cures the illness. The bitterer it is, the more effective it tends to be."

The moment Zenitsu spotted him, he leaped off the bed, exclaiming, "Carter-senpai!"

"Hey, Zenitsu. How are you feeling?"

"Thank you for saving me, senpai!" Zenitsu looked at Adam gratefully, "The medical staff told me I might not have survived without your timely treatment."

"It's nothing. You saved my life too, remember?" Adam approached and patted his shoulder, "You killed that spider demon with one strike."

It would have been better not to mention it. As soon as he did, Zenitsu's face fell again.

"It's so embarrassing. I nearly died after killing just one demon. If Grandpa knew how useless I am, he'd definitely beat me to death. That's why I don't want to join the Demon Slayer Corps!" He could no longer hold back and loudly expressed his true feelings.

He really didn't want to join the Demon Slayer Corps!

Shinobu looked at him gently and said, "Zenitsu, joining the Demon Slayer Corps is your choice. We never force anyone — whether you stay or leave is up to you. Since you've stayed, you must have an important reason, right?"

Zenitsu thought of his grandfather. He didn't want to disappoint the old man. But could he really live up to his grandfather's expectations?

In truth, he wanted to meet those expectations. He was afraid of dying, but he was even more afraid of disappointing his grandfather.

For a moment, he fell silent. Then, he picked up the medicine bowl, pinched his nose, and drank it all in one gulp with a grimace. It seemed he had his own convictions after all.

"Mm, good boy, good boy." Shinobu patted his head and told him to lie back down to rest.

Adam also stepped forward, "Zenitsu, is there anywhere else that feels uncomfortable? If so, you should speak up now. I can treat you. By the way, you can call me Takeshi Suoh — my other name is quite inconvenient."

"Takeshi Suoh… Alright, Suoh-senpai! And the treatment... oh, that green light!" Zenitsu exclaimed, recalling the warm, soothing glow.

"Is there anywhere you're still feeling discomfort?" Adam inquired.

"No, I'm mostly better now." Zenitsu replied, waving his hand dismissively. Suddenly, as if struck by a thought, he pointed to the boy in the adjacent bed, "Suoh-senpai, could you please treat Inosuke? A demon crushed his throat, and he's struggling to speak and breathe. His body's also pretty banged up."

"That boy?" Adam followed his gesture.

He saw a figure wearing a boar's head mask, lying docile on the hospital bed, muttering repeatedly in a faint voice: "I'm sorry, it's all because I'm too weak. I'm sorry, it's all because I'm too weak. I'm sorry..."

Adam stood silent, observing.

This battle had finally introduced Inosuke, who'd never known fear, to the bitter taste of defeat. In simpler terms, the demon had beaten him into a depressive state.

"Please, Suoh-senpai!" Zenitsu pleaded. Despite his tendency to mock Inosuke, they were comrades, and he couldn't bear to see him suffer.

"It's no trouble at all." Adam assured, approaching his bedside.

As he removed the wild boar mask, he was taken aback by the unexpectedly beautiful, almost feminine face beneath. How could such a rugged fighter possess such delicate features?

"What's... happening..." Inosuke, now unmasked, finally stirred, turning to gaze blankly at Adam.

"Hey there, Inosuke. I'm Takeshi Suoh." Adam greeted warmly, "Your throat's injured. I'm here to help treat you."

Inosuke remained silent, offering no response.

Normally, Inosuke would have been shouting and causing a ruckus, insisting he didn't need treatment. However, this time the emotional trauma seemed too great, and he lay obediently on the bed, awaiting treatment.

◈ Heal ◈

Adam placed his hands on Inosuke's throat, activated his healing skill, and began to treat him by consuming magic power. A green light emanated from his hands.

"What is this?" Aoi exclaimed, witnessing the phenomenon for the first time.

"This is my unique healing ability." Adam explained, "It can mend physical injuries."

After five minutes, Inosuke's treatment was complete.

"I'm alive!!!"

As soon as his body was healed, he erupted into his usual boisterous self!

In the next moment, however, Aoi pushed him back onto the bed.

"You've just been healed — you still need to be observed for a while!" When he tried to resist, she added sternly, "Do you want to get beaten up again?"

He obediently lay back down, muttering, "I'm sorry, it's all because I'm too weak. I'm sorry, it's all because I'm too weak. I'm sorry..."

And just like that, he slipped back into depression.

Shinobu, observing from the side, remarked, "Seeing it again, it's still unbelievable."

Adam sighed deeply, "I'm sorry, this ability is unique to me. If I could, I'd certainly teach it to you, Shinobu."

He spoke with such sincerity that she could tell he wasn't merely brushing her off.

"By the way, Suoh-kun, I wonder if you could treat the Master? If possible, please help him. The Demon Slayer Corps would be deeply grateful."

Shinobu's thoughts turned to Kagaya. His body was extremely frail, and it was uncertain how much longer he could hold on.

If Adam could treat him, then under Kagaya's continued leadership, they might defeat Muzan Kibutsuji sooner. The long-cherished wish of the Demon Slayer Corps could be fulfilled in this generation!

"I'm sorry, I can't do it." Adam said with a helpless expression, "Kagaya Ubuyashiki's illness is beyond treatment. I'm powerless to help."

Even if he could treat it, the blood curse integrated into the Ubuyashiki's bloodline for countless generations was too complex. Adam couldn't guarantee a complete cure, even if he could purify it.

If only Aqua could come to this world. Unfortunately, Adam currently lacked the ability to bring people across worlds.

However, one possibility remained.

— What if Kagaya became a demon?

If he transformed and Tamayo could help him break free from Muzan's blood control, both the lifespan issue and the blood curse would be resolved at once.

But then, would a demon Kagaya lead the Demon Slayer Corps to slay demons?

Hiss...!!!

Kishou Arima would call this professional!
