Chapter 6 “Fang Zhou? Nice to see you again” (1 / 2)
With the arrival of the superstar Qiao Sisi, the popularity of the love reality show’s live broadcast soared to the top of the platform’s charts, with up to a million real fans tuning in simultaneously.
The entire live broadcast room was flooded with barrage comments.
“Ah! The ‘Once in a Lifetime’ series! I can’t believe we’re seeing a top female star join a love reality show! And not as a guest commentator, but as a mutual selection guest!”
“My goodness, the director of this show must have saved Qiao Sisi’s family. How on earth did they persuade her to come!”
“Will a top female star joining a love reality show really not affect her popularity?”
“Qiao Sisi is known for her acting skills, not as an idol who debuted from a talent show. Why can’t she date? Some fans really need to stop being so controlling.”
The barrage of comments turned into a cacophony, pushing the atmosphere of the entire live broadcast room to its peak.
The director, in the remote control room, looked at the live broadcast data, his lips curling up in a wild grin.
He knew inviting Qiao Sisi was the right move.
With her inherent popularity, was there any worry that this season’s show wouldn’t surpass the previous two?
Records are meant to be broken!
Fang Zhou squatted on the ground, using the act of picking up the cup to mask his panic.
But inside, he was calculating what kind of excuse he could find to leave the show midway.
The other three ex-girlfriends were manageable, and probably wouldn’t cause any major issues.
But that curly-haired lady was Qin Yun!
Don’t be fooled by her gentle appearance; she’s actually a dark-hearted woman. When Fang Zhou was with her, it was a daily battle of wits.
He enjoyed it at the time, but looking back after breaking up, it was sweat-inducing.
Moreover, the reason Fang Zhou moved cities, from Henan to the capital, was to avoid Qin Yun.
How long had he been hiding? Less than a year, right?
And yet, he encountered her on the love variety show!
It’s over, Qin Yun wouldn’t dissect him on this island and then throw him into the sea, would she?
Qin Yun, a university professor and a top-tier hospital’s surgeon, seemed capable of such a feat with ease.
“Ark, switch your glass, let’s have a toast.”
Perhaps Ark had been crouching for too long, Sun Haotian noticed his situation, chuckled, and patted his shoulder, urging him to stand.
It was his call that fixed the newly arrived Qiao Sisi and Qin Yun’s gaze upon Ark.
“Ark?”
Qin Yun’s distinctive voice, like flowers in full bloom in the spring, utterly decadent.
She stepped forward with a smile, crouched down, and repeated with interest.
“Ark?”
The scene wasn’t exactly quiet, as others were chatting away.
But Qin Yun’s voice still cut through, almost piercing Ark’s eardrums.
Ark felt like he was treading on thin ice. He paused to breathe, his grip tightening on the glass, suppressing his restless heart, and mustered a smile.
“It’s me.”
He looked up, locking eyes with Qin Yun.
Her eyes sparkled, her entire demeanor radiant and exceedingly gentle.
Only those who knew her understood what lay beneath that gentle facade.
“How are you, Ark?”
Qin Yun’s voice was soft and tender, like greeting an old friend, yet also caring for a stranger just met.
“I’m fine, thank you.”
Ark avoided her gaze, picked up his glass, and stood up, acting nonchalant, with only his uncontrollable pinky trembling slightly.

“Come on! Brother, I’ve poured you another glass.”
Sun Haotian, ever so enthusiastic, saw Ark’s orange juice spilled and promptly refilled his glass.
“And to the three siblings who’ve just arrived, come join us for a drink, to celebrate our first meeting!”
“Sure.”
Qiao Sisi’s gaze swept over Ark, revealing a meaningful smile, as she walked over and raised her glass.
“I’m Qiao Sisi, delighted to meet everyone here, and I hope we can all get along well in the time to come.”
One by one, everyone raised their glasses, clinking them with Qiao Sisi’s.
When it was Fangzhou’s turn, he too lifted his freshly poured orange juice, mustering a smile, and clinked glasses with Qiao Sisi.
However, someone exerted a bit too much force, and some of the orange juice splashed out, landing precisely on Fangzhou’s white hoodie.
Qiao Sisi exclaimed in surprise, hastily setting down her glass and pulling out a napkin from the table to wipe Fangzhou’s hoodie.
“I’m so sorry, it wasn’t intentional.”
She didn’t carry herself with the air of a big star, nor did she seem like the cool GIRL she portrayed; without any idol pretense, she helped the ‘newly met’ male guest clean his clothes.
The live comments praised her.
“Sisi is truly beautiful inside and out, it was clearly Fangzhou who got too excited and caused the juice to spill.”
“A big beauty helping to wipe off juice, what an opportunity.”
“Wuuu, damn you, stinky man, stay away from my Sisi!”
Only Fangzhou saw the fleeting look of triumph in Qiao Sisi’s eyes.
It was her usual tactic.
Qiao Sisi’s public persona in the entertainment circle was that of a bold, carefree, generous actress, diligently honing her acting skills.
In private, she was quite different from her on-screen image, a careless, heartless little schemer and coquette.
Fond of playing pranks, she was like a childish imp who hadn’t grown up.
Fangzhou stepped back, avoiding her hand, and politely said, “It’s okay, it’s my fault, I got too excited seeing a big star.”
He picked up the napkin and started wiping the juice himself, but the orange had already stained the white hoodie, impossible to remove.
Qiao Sisi said guiltily, “I’ll compensate you for the hoodie after the show, I’m really sorry.”
Her almond eyes blinked gently, misty, making her look pitiful and somewhat forlorn.
The male guests present couldn’t help but speak up for her.
“It’s okay, Sisi, it’s just a hoodie. If Fangzhou needs it, I can sponsor him a whole car.”
The speaker was the race car driver Qi Le, his conspicuous red hair making him stand out among the male guests.
This condescending tone of charity immediately drew criticism from the live audience.
“Such arrogance! Who does he think he is, acting like we’re all desperate for that hoodie.”
“Exactly, Qi Le must not think he’s cool, right? He doesn’t think this will increase Sisi’s favorability, does he?”
“Manipulative man, get lost!”
Fangzhou couldn’t help but laugh at this remark.
He crumpled up the napkin and tossed it into the trash can, saying, “I don’t need it, if you have spare money, you might as well donate it to the children in the mountains.”
Qiao Sisi also threw her napkin into the trash can, her tone very similar to Fangzhou’s, she looked at Qi Le with a smirk that was not quite a smile.
“That’s true, the children in the mountains would probably be very grateful to you.”
Although she said it with a laugh, Qi Le could feel a hint of her displeasure.
He scratched his head, somewhat puzzled. Why was Qiao Sisi angry with him for helping her avoid private contact with that man?
