Survival Journey : I am a lucky star

Chapter 26: Re-enter the Game:Village Carnival 1

The sun is scorching, sweat pouring off like rain.

In a blink, Wen Nannan found herself in a remote little mountain town, surrounded by endless fields of golden rice.

She couldn't help but fan herself with her hands, feeling like she'd just stepped out of a sauna. All her clothes were soaked through with sweat.

She shielded her eyes and looked up. The blinding sun in the sky was so intense that she instinctively averted her gaze.

The next moment, the holographic screen appears-

[Welcome back to the Survival Game. This round will have 1000 NPCs and 9 players playing with you. Please strive to survive for thirty days. This round: Village Carnival]

"Nannan, what's wrong with you? You've been standing there for ages. You haven't even finished weeding your small plot of rice!"

Wen Nannan snapped out of her daze. In the endless rice fields, there were many dark-skinned women bending over to weed.

Her identity in the game was clearly one of them.

Another woman, with a red headscarf on her head, couldn't help but speak up. She didn't slow down her weeding, but still took the time to advise Wen Nannan.

"If you don't work harder, you won't have any food for the winter. Although our Fugu Town is the most abundant in this area, no one has extra food to spare for you!"

"Don't end up like those women who come here from other towns to take refuge and do anything for a bite of food… "

Another woman who was working nearby also came over, clearly interested in this gossip.

Wen Nannan remembered the system's prompt about other players and casually asked.

"Auntie, are there any people from outside coming to our town recently?"

"No one has come to take refuge. But a few teachers from the provincial city came to teach in the countryside, just to teach our town's little ones."

After a pause, Aunt Zhang continued with a smile.

"Nannan, don't just talk and not work. If you're lazy, you won't have any food for the winter. Last year, dozens of people in the neighboring town starved to death."

As soon as these words were spoken, Wen Nannan's heart sank. She cursed the game in her mind, it had thrown her into an era of food scarcity.

Seeing that Wen Nannan didn't say anything, Aunt Zhang felt that her previous words had frightened her. She immediately laughed and said,

"But, Nannan, you don't have to worry too much. Our Fuguo Town always has the most abundant food supply. We haven't had anyone starve to death in all these years."

Looking at Aunt Zhang's confident look, Wen Nannan almost believed her.

After a long silence, she finally resigned herself and picked up the hoe again. But even for a short while, the sweat started dripping down her forehead, which was covered by a headscarf.

For the next half day, Wen Nannan diligently followed Aunt Zhang and the others weeding, but she had never done farm work before.

She was incredibly slow, making Aunt Zhang so frustrated that she grumbled the whole morning.

Just before lunch, Wen Nannan finally figured out the rhythm of weeding, but her whole body ached.

Just as she was about to go back and rest, Aunt Zhang, covered in mud, pulled her back.

"Nannan, there's a welcome party in town today. They have lunch with the teachers who come to the countryside. Let's go and mooch some food!"

Aunt Zhang's dark, wrinkled face had a knowing look, and she kindly pulled Wen Nannan towards the house in the center of the town.

"You're a poor child, orphaned. Listen to Auntie, save a meal if you can."

Aunt Zhang's grip was strong, and before Wen Nannan could react, she was dragged and pulled a long way.

She passed through fields of golden rice and narrow mountain paths.

She saw crooked earth houses, only about twenty square meters each, not glued together with cement, but with the yellow mud that was everywhere.

As she walked towards the center of the town, the only stone house was the town leader's. It was much better than the mud houses, but not by much.

The town leader was an old man with thinning hair. When he saw Wen Nannan and Aunt Zhang arrive, his face immediately sank.

"What are you doing here? This is a welcome party for teachers, the teachers who come to the countryside. You can go home and have a meal."

"You see, you've prepared so much, those children from the city won't be able to finish it all. Nannan and I will just eat some leftovers. We can help clean up the dishes too."

Aunt Zhang stood beside the town leader and begged for a long time. The town leader finally reluctantly agreed, but they still had to wait until the teachers finished eating before they could.

The nine teachers who came to the countryside were sitting on the ground.

The clothes they were wearing were much neater than those of the people in Fuguo Town, but not by much.

In front of them was a small, low table with bean cakes and wild vegetable porridge, the best food that the townspeople could offer in this era.

Still, a few teachers looked disgusted and turned their eyes away, their tone quite contemptuous.

"While there are no zombies or Resident Evil in this round, the food is seriously disgusting!"

"Xu Fang, stop being picky!"

The male teacher next to her rolled his eyes at her and picked up a bean cake from the table and stuffed it in his mouth. He then looked strange, as if trying to endure something. But in the end, he still swallowed it down.

Xu Fang just clicked her tongue and said with a knowing tone.

"Li An, you are so awesome. You are worthy of being an experienced player who has experienced four rounds of games. You can bend and stretch. I admire you!"

Wen Nannan, who was standing not far away, lowered his eyes and secretly remembered everything they said.
