Survive as a Prison Guard in the Game

Chapter 106 - Village of the Dryads (4)

Chapter 106
Village of the Dryads (4)

A small gust of wind whipped up around the giant tree, revealing a girl with fluttering pink hair.

The Queen of Dryads.

Plum Blossom.

She inclined her head in gratitude.

“First, thank you for saving the village from being destroyed.”

“I did it hoping for something in return, you don’t have to be so grateful.”

“If it wasn’t for you, I would have lost everything.”

Plum reached out and took a branch, the one with the flower bud, and clasped her hands over it.

An intangible energy flowed out and enveloped the branch.

The closed flower bud glowed with a bright light, holding onto the energy and blossoming.

A pink plum blossom.

A flower language for a clean heart and innocence.

“Here you go.”

He grabbed the branch she offered. With that, he had all the key ingredients. All that remains are the minor components.

He can get them all before he goes to the Oberg Empire.

“I’ll put this to good use.”

“And…….”

Plum slowly walked over and stood in front of him. The second reward he had requested. Kneeling down to receive it, he bent low.

A small hand touched the top of his head.

He could feel the warmth of her hand, and a refreshing energy flowed through him.

“May the blessings of the Dryads be with you on your journey.”

A message window appeared, along with the energy that filled his body.

[Dryad Queen’s Blessing]

-Increased affinity with nature.

-You will be able to communicate with animals.

-You can communicate with plants.

-When resting in nature, your health and mana recovery rate is increased.

His lips quirked up at the sight of these better-than-expected abilities.

But the rewards didn’t end there.

A small ring emerged from a root that pierced the ground.

“Originally, humans can’t handle the power of nature, so when they get too much of that power, they become trees.”

Plum handed over the small ring.

“This ring will completely remove that side effect.”

“I don’t think you’re just giving it to me for free.”

“I want to ask you one more favor.”

“What is it.”

“Help me make sure this village never goes through something like this again.”

“Don’t worry about that.”

He had already spoken to Marek and gotten some things to prepare for something like this.

Turning to the sound of people clamoring, he saw several wagons pulling into town.

“Just in time.”

Cerberus Headquarters Island.

The villa.

In his office, reading a training report on the new recruits, Daylon stood up from his seat while rubbing his eyes.

“Haaa…….'”

Stretching, he poured himself a cup of coffee and stared out the window. He could see the new recruits training under the guidance of their instructors.

The children of the 12 Families.

Newcomers to Burning Hell.

Although they weren’t as skilled as the existing Cerberus, they had the potential to grow.

With enough time.

As long as they gained practical experience through missions.

They could be just as effective as the Cerberus operatives from the Six Kingdoms.

Most importantly.

Since none of them would be returning to the Six Kingdoms this time, they would be Cerberus’s core force.

“I need to make sure they grow up.”

He mused.

Settling back into the chair sipping his coffee.

He picked up the report he’d put down and reviewed each recruit’s strengths and areas for improvement.

The training plan is written on the last page.

He ran through the simulation again to make sure there were no problems, and signed off on any supplies or support needed.

*BAM!* *BAM!*

“Sir, this is Rebecca.”

A princess of the Adrian Kingdom with striking red hair. She had taken over the position of vice captain vacated by Redin’s departure.

“Come in.”

“Yes.”

The door opened and Rebecca appeared. She carried a long wooden box in her hand. She stepped inside and set it down on the desk.

“What is this?”

“It’s a package sent in a hurry from the Kingdom of Resha. The sender is Isabelle. She’s with the Criminal Enforcement Unit of the Kingdom of Resha.”

“This is an urgent note from them.”

A letter with the seal of the Kingdom of Resha.

With a strange sense of foreboding, Daylon tore the letter open to see what was inside.

-Redin was killed during a battle with Pinocchio from Darkness Seven.

-The body was never recovered as Redin’s remains turned to dust and disappeared.

-In the enclosed wooden box is Redin’s sword. Since it belongs to Cerberus, I thought it only right to return it to you.

For a moment, his thoughts were racing.

Daylon put down the letter and yanked open the wooden box. Inside was a sword. It was obviously the sword Redin usually carried.

“Captain, this is…..”

Rebecca’s pupils trembled.

“Isn’t this the sword Redin used?”

“That’s right.”

“Why is this…. No way.”

Despite the trembling in Rebecca’s voice, Daylon faced the situation calmly. He ran his hand over the scabbard and rolled his tongue.

“……Hmm.”

After a moment’s thought, he looked at Rebecca and asked.

“What do you think?”

“What?”

“Do you think Redin is really dead?”

Rebecca shook her head.

“The Redin I’ve known isn’t the kind of person to die so easily.”

“…… Come with me.”

He grabbed the wooden crate and led the way out of the villa. He boarded a special boat on the island and headed for Burning Hell with Rebecca.

On the fast-moving boat.

Daylon looked at Rebecca.

“When we get to Burning Hell, I want you to go straight to the prisoner supply room and check Redin’s records. I need you to find out if he had anything to do with this guy named Paradox.”

“Yes.”

“And if there are any records, I want you to erase them.”

“Understood.”

The boat arrives at Burning Hell.

Daylon separated from Rebecca and made his way to the Warden’s office. He sat in the chair in the front and waited for Rebecca.

Then the secretary approached.

“The warden is in there, shall I make an appointment?”

“Uh, I just need to check up on something for a moment, and then I’ll get back to you.”

“Okay.”

It wasn’t long before Rebecca came running in panting out of breath.

“Captain, it’s the thing about the Paradox.”

“Really?”

Daylon raised a brow as he turned to the secretary.

“I’d like to see the warden.”

“Yes. Just a moment.”

The secretary knocked, opened the door slightly, spoke briefly, then signaled for him to enter.

Daylon inclined his head.

He stepped through the door and walked to Warden Rukel’s desk.

“I came to see you because I have something urgent to report.”

Placing the wooden crate down on the desk, he opened it to reveal the sword inside.

“It’s Redin’s sword.”

Rukel looked at the sword solemnly.

“Is he dead?”

“That’s how it was reported.”

“And the body?”

“They say it disappeared when the skeleton crumbled, but I don’t think he’s really dead.”

“Why do you think that?”

Daylon explained what happened when he captured Paradox. How he’d faked his death with the skull ring he was using.

“I had a hard time catching him, but I remember it clearly.”

“So he faked his death to go undercover.”

“That’s right.”

Rukel pondered why Redin would fake his death.

Cerberus’ vice-captain.

A man who had recently made his name known to the nobles and kings of the Six Kingdoms by taking down the Head of Magnes.

Which means.

It also meant that the criminal organizations were marking Redin heavily. It was clear that he had chosen to fake his death to make his infiltration easier.

However, the timing.

Because of the suddenness of the timing, the other side was bound to be suspicious.

“Hold a secret funeral and leak the information. As if we wanted to hide it.”

“I understand.”

The other side would be nervous.

At this point, he needed someone to put a stamp on it.

“Is there anyone to put forward as a front to replace Redin?”

“I have this guy named Khan.”

“I’ve heard of him. Good. Give him a push and give him a platform to shine.”

Daylon bowed his head.

“Understood.”

From the village of Geppetto, he obtained a horse and rode to Obelia, the capital of the Oberg Empire.

A capital city ravaged by war.

All that remains is a crumbling castle, but with the power of the Darkness Seven and the resources of the criminal organizations, it will soon be restored.

Most importantly.

In the process of restoring the capital.

Rodwell will fill all of the Darkness Seven’s vacancies and begin to build the Oberg Empire in earnest.

But first he needed to strengthen his forces.

“The Seven Major Criminal Organizations…..”

With Brassel and Magnes gone.

Only five organizations remained.

Among them, the Bosses of Pierre and Hekan were highly skilled and had earned a place in the Darkness Seven in Rodwell’s eyes.

The real power of the Oberg Empire.

There were those who envied them. Three organizations grouped together as the Seven, but relatively weak.

Janus.

Kenida.

Black Rose.

-I will only accept one of you.

Rodwell’s Proclamation.

In the game, that proclamation led to a bloody bloodbath between the three organizations, which resulted in the Black Rose consolidating its power and entering Darkness Seven.

“This time will be different.”

Fabian.

Through him, he plans to gain control of the three organizations, increase his power, and through that, catch Rodwell’s eye and infiltrate the Darkness Seven.

*Hieeee!*

Two paths.

If he went to the right, he could go to Obelia, but if he wanted to meet Fabian, he had to go to the one on the left.

“Hyaaa.”

Tugging on the reins, he rode to the left.

*Clik-Clak!*

*Clip-Clop!*

There was no trail, and no means of contacting Fabian.

Finding Fabian shouldn’t be too difficult.

The traits of a vampire.

A powerful thirst for blood.

Especially those who had just become vampires, they had little self-control and could easily lose their minds at the mere smell of thick blood.

“He must be binge eating like crazy.”

From Count Dante’s mansion.

Monsters on the road to Obelia.

Fabian must have been fueled by their blood, drinking it as he traveled.

He gazed out at the looming snowy mountains.

“Snow Bear…..”

A giant bear that lives in the snowy mountains.

One of the monsters whose blood Count Dante raved about as one of the most delicious in the game.

If Fabian had moved to become stronger.

There was a good chance he’d be climbing the snowy mountain by now to drink its blood.

If he wasn’t, it didn’t matter.

If he killed the Snow Bear first and scattered its blood around, he’d come on his own.

“Let’s go.”

He tied his horse to a tree at the base of the mountain and started climbing.

Only the top was covered in snow.

He was able to get up to the middle without too much difficulty, but the temperature dropped dramatically as he neared the top.

The snow began to thicken.

Snow whipped up by the strong wind.

After climbing up the snow-covered mountain, he found a cave with a snow bear.

There is only one entrance.

He brushes the snow off his body as he enters. Judging by the relative cleanliness of the entrance, Fabian hadn’t arrived yet.

*Rumble!*

A rumbling sounded from inside.

With a loud thump, a huge snow bear emerged.

A red-eyed bear with pure white fur.

“ROOOOOAARR!”

As the snow bear charged at him with a fierce howl, he pulled out his sword.

*Slash!*

He decapitated the bear.

*Thud!*

The heavy body fell to the ground.

Moving forward, he dragged Snow Bear’s body and threw it through the entrance.

“If I do this, he’ll come running in here on his own….”

He settled himself inside the cave and sat down.

From his pocket, he pulled out a necklace containing the Curse of Lies and Branch of Innocence.

“While I wait, I better craft some items.”
