Chapter 110 - House Netura's Labyrinth (2)
Chapter 110
House Netura’s Labyrinth (2)
The tower in the center.
Underneath it is a passage that goes underground, and at the end of it is the entrance to the Labyrinth.
There was but one entrance.
And he needed to get in there somehow.
“….Hmm.”
There are two possible methods to enter.
Either he could clear out all of the demon worshippers in the vicinity and enter the labyrinth, or he could enter the labyrinth as discreetly as possible.
The first option was risky.
It would take a considerable amount of time, and there was the factor of combat. If he was caught by the wrong spell from one of their priests, it could be devastating.
If there was a way to enter quietly, it was best to use it.
“…….”
He searched Del’s memory again.
The schedule in the makeshift tent. That’s where he found Del’s name.
Perimeter patrol, 30-minute break, followed by the labyrinth search.
The last part of the day was the scouring of the labyrinth. With that, it shouldn’t be too hard to get to the labyrinth.
“Time to head inside.”
Rising from his crouch, he walked over to the area where the tents were set up.
The other scouts were taking a quick nap.
Some were holding inverted crosses and praying, while a couple were playing a simple board game to pass the time.
“Haaaahhh.”
Feigning a yawn, he walked over to an empty chair and sat down. Casually, he folded his arms and crossed his legs.
He pretended to close his eyes for a moment.
Eavesdropping on the conversation within the tent.
“Priest, you seem to be in a good mood today. Any good news on the labyrinth side?”
“We’ve moved one section forward.”
“Did you find anything good?”
“I found a book of some sort. The analysts are studying it now.”
“This is the first time in a month that we’ve seen progress on this side of the labyrinth? That’s good. At this rate, you’ll be up to the High Priest in no time.”
The organizational structure of the Demon Church is simple.
Priest. High Priest.
And above them are the Twelve Apostles.
The Twelve Apostles are essentially never seen in the game, with the majority of the action coming from the ranks of the Named High Priests.
Each named High Priest is a tactical nuke.
To be a High Priest, you had to first become a priest, and becoming a priest was not something just anyone could do.
A person chosen by the Demon God.
Only a select few within the Demon Church could become one, and those who were chosen by the Demon God were exceptionally gifted.
Whoever is leading this group now, though, he has no idea.
It can’t be an average one, not with the words High Priest spewing out of their mouths.
“Checkmate.”
“Just one more round.”
“There’s no such shit in a bet.”
“Cheating bastard.”
“Cheater. Del, Roton. 30 minutes have passed. Time to go back to the labyrinth.”
Groggily, he rose from his perch. The one next to him frowned and began gathering his gear.
He followed Roton’s example and gathered his gear.
Then he heard a voice behind him.
“Hey, that’s my cabinet.”
“Oh, I forgot. Must still be sleepy.”
“Wake the f**k up.”
Beside it, he grabbed the sword and a bag containing assorted tools. Judging by the lack of other words, this must be Del’s.
“Haaaam…. Let’s go.”
Roton exited the tent first, and Redin followed after. They made their way along the trail leading to the tower.
The demon worshipers were hard at work, digging and examining the tombstones.
After passing through them, they reached the tower and saw a descending path. There were torches on the walls, illuminating the interior.
He followed the stairs downward.
After a few flights of stairs, the path widened to reveal a large space.
A room that looked like a chamber.
There were a number of people gathered huddled around different desks. From their attire and what was on their desks, they were apparently engaged in some analysis regarding the labyrinth.
At the center of them all, a man in black priests’ robes.
The one currently leading this place.
Roton made his way over to the man.
“Priest Pekiro.”
“Are you the brothers who will be entering the labyrinth today, Del and Roton?”
“Yes.”
“I will pray to the Demon God that you may safely complete this labyrinth expedition today.”
“Thank you.”
He bowed his head along with Roton, a face he’d never seen before in the game before.
“Let’s go in, then.”
Together with Roton, they stood at the stone door at the end of the chamber.
*Rumble!* *Rumble!*
The Labyrinth slowly opens, splitting in half.
“Hold on.”
Priest Pekiro’s gravelly drawl reverberated through the chamber. All those working around him stopped.
“Brother, Del?”
He whirled around to meet Pekiro’s gaze.
The expression in his face gave a sense of foreboding.
For some reason, he knew his identity had been discovered.
“Yes. Priest Pekiro.”
“Did you really think I’d be fooled if you try to deceive in such a casual way?”
Definitely not an ordinary person.
For a second.
He debated whether to kill him or flee, but chose the latter. A skill shared by the Priests of the Demon God.
Body Sharing.
A skill that allows them to synchronize their senses with their opponents, allowing them to attune themselves to their foes.
A situation not worth the risk.
*Whoosh!*
He quickly acted as he saw the Demonic Energy coalesce in Priest Pekiro’s hands, yanking the arm of the Roton next to him and turning him into a meat shield, and launched himself into the labyrinth.
“He must know something about the Labyrinth! Someone in here, bring the entire force and capture him now!”
With Pekiro’s voice trailing behind him, he rushed forward.
*Boom!*
An explosion erupted from the entryway.
He could feel demonic energy surging through the air.
Rolling forward into the labyrinth, the mana in his body dissipated.
A labyrinth specially designed by the Netura Family.
Within it, no mana, holy power, or demonic energy could be used.
*Bang!* *Bang!*
Naturally, even the energy balls that Pekiro threw were unable to exert any power inside the labyrinth.
“Ahhh!”
A Demon cultist charged with a sword.
Parrying aside the blade, he stabbed his sword into the man’s chest.
He kicked him in the stomach and yanked his sword out.
The corpse obstructed the path of the cultist. Turning, he surveyed the area behind him. A labyrinth composed of only straight pathways.
Using the Eye of Arrakis, he navigated his way through.
A green patch of light a few steps ahead. It was emanating from only one block.
He made his way to it.
Trusting the Eye of Arrakis to direct the route, he proceeded to advance. At least the path was narrow enough that he didn’t have to deal with any more enemies.
*Clang!*
*Clang!*
*Skkkrr!*
He fought them off as best he could, biding for time. About five minutes passed, and the surrounding walls began to tremble.
*Ruummmblleess!*
The labyrinth moved along with the tremors that radiated from the floor. Wall after wall intersected, twisted and turned, forming new pathways.
“Where are you going…..”
Shoving the guy out of the way, the Demon Cultists disappeared from view as a series of walls smashed into each other.
*Rumble!* *Crash!* *Rumble!*
With a loud aftershock, the labyrinth had completed its alteration.
“We have to capture that guy!”
“I’ll head this way, you two go that way!”
He could hear the voices of his enemies in the distance, but from here it didn’t matter that much.
If one came, he’d just have to deal with it and then move on.
“Right.”
He moved to the direction Arrakis’s eyes were indicating.

A labyrinth built by House Netura.
Staying in the chamber and watching the stone door, Pekiro composed himself.
“Phew…..”
He calmly sorted out the events.
An intruder had taken the appearance of Del and was now inside the labyrinth.
He was being chased by a group of disciples.
‘Who could it be?’
Pekiro racked his brain for people who would come here. But none immediately came to mind.
The Six Kingdoms had long since given up, and the line of druidic descendants had long since been wiped out.
Though the mercenaries are questionable.
Surely they’re not going to waste their one and only life like this, even if they are treasure hunters looking for a one-shot of fortune.
Above all.
The person in Del’s form had a confident smile on his face.
“Priest Pekiro.”
One of the acolytes who had returned from the labyrinth approached Pekiro.
Pekiro regarded him and inquired.
“What’s the situation?”
“The intruder has gone beyond the second level.”
Past the simple part of the labyrinth.
A section where the monsters begin to manifest.
A place where a variety of monsters lurk in the ever-changing labyrinth.
Mana, holy power, and demonic energy.
With no access to any of these powers, one is forced to use purely physical abilities to deal with these monsters.
Every monster in there was a formidable creature.
“Abort the manhunt.”
“Then the intruder is….”
“There’s a good chance they won’t make it past the second level anyways, and even if they’re lucky enough to make it to the next level, the odds of them coming back alive are extremely low.”
Even with the power of the demonic church, they can only make it to the second level in a year.
No matter who they are.
The possibility of passing the stages beyond and reaching the secret area was almost zero.
Even if they did manage to get into the secret area, it was a place with only one entrance and one exit.
As long as the Demon Church was stationed here.
The only other exit was through this chamber.
“Tighten the security of the chamber, and accelerate the analysis of the data we obtained yesterday.”

*Rumbles!*
The entire labyrinth was changing once again.
Standing still for a moment, he waited for the transition, and when the walls had settled, he resumed his journey.
The Eye of Arrakis guided him through.
Following the green light, he suddenly noticed a red overlay of snow. The entire floor of the room was tinged with red.
“Must be a trap.”
A blue patch of glow appeared on one of the blocks, indicating a clear path, and he stepped through it with ease and continued on his way.
He wondered how long he’d been at this.
A tiny ray of light poured through a small gap.
*Crunch!*
“Arghh!”
A scream echoed from beyond the gap, along with the sound of something being broken. Redin crouched low, keeping his eyes on the side where the sound came from.
He pulled out his sword, at the ready in case of a fight.
The sound of something gnawing on something else came from the direction of the noise. Swallowing hard, he slowly made his way over.
Peering through the gap where he could see the light.
A chamber with a ceiling high enough to fit a mansion. Inside was a large bear.
A mouth big enough to swallow a person.
*Crunch!* *Crunch!*
A man’s legs twitched in the bear’s bloodied mouth.
Inside the chamber, the floor was littered with bones.
Evidence that the bear had killed those who had attempted to find the inscription.
“Black Bear…….”
One of the Phantasmal Beasts.
He was raised by the Druid Family. In the game, he was actually a gatekeeper.
This bear brought tears to many players’ eyes.
If one wasn’t a druid, he wouldn’t let them through the gate.
“I’m halfway there.”
Sheathing his sword, he walked toward Black Bear. With the natural powers of a druid, the black bear was no threat.
Plus, he had the blessing of the Dryad Queen.
A skill far superior to that of the Druids.
“Grrrrr….”
The slobbering Black Bear stands on its two feet and stomps towards him.
Staring at it, he slowly raised his hand.
Wearing the ring the Queen had given him, he called forth the power of nature. A green light flickered in his hand, and he strode towards Black Bear.
“Krug….”
Like a meek and docile lamb.
Black Bear lowers his posture.
Seeing the Queen’s Blessing in action, he followed the path Arrakis’s eyes directed.
“Let’s go, Black Bear.”
