Sweet Revenge With My Billionaire Vampire

Chapter 10: Calm Down And Listen 10

Her mouth opened and closed, no words forming as her face grew even redder. Enzo let out a low chuckle, his shoulders shaking slightly as he turned and began walking down the hallway. "Well, are you coming or not?" he called over his shoulder.

Adeline stood there for a moment, clenching her fists at her sides. "This bastard…" She thought to herself before reluctantly following him, muttering under her breath as she trailed behind.

As they walked toward the garage, Adeline hugged her uninjured arm tightly to her chest, covering her exposed skin. The shirt was way too big for her. She repeatedly chewed on her lip, her teeth sinking into the sensitive skin as she contemplated if she should say something. Finally, with a heavy sigh, she glanced up at Enzo, who walked a few steps ahead of her and said, "I… I want to go see my best friend. She's probably worried sick about me right now."

Enzo glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, raising an eyebrow at her sudden request. After a pause, he nodded. "Very well. As long as you trust her, then I don't see a problem with it."

A surprised 'huh' escaped Adeline's mouth, not expecting him to agree so easily. She expected at least some snarky comment from him.

Enzo suddenly stopped in his tracks, his eyes darting down to her chest. "What on earth are you doing?" he asked, gesturing toward her arm.

Adeline quickly looked away, clutching herself tighter. "What does it look like I'm doing, stupid? I'm… I'm covering myself! My boobs are practically hanging out in this stupid shirt."

They both went silent for a few seconds before she realized how her words sounded. Embarrassed, she turned her head back to him and jabbed a finger at him. "You'd better not be peeking, because if you are—"

"Relax," Enzo cut her off, shaking his head. "Do I look like a pervert to you? he asked, one brow quirking as he crossed his arms. "And aren't you forgetting something? I carried you back here yesterday, remember? If I wanted to see whatever you think you're hiding, don't you think I'd have already gotten an eyeful while you were unconscious?"

Adeline's jaw dropped. "Why would you—"

"Calm down. I'm not interested. And for your information, I only told them to put you in a sleeveless shirt because of your arm. You're the one making it weird." With that, he shrugged and shoved his hands into his pockets before continuing walking.

She stood there, staring at him, at a complete loss for words, before mumbling something under her breath and walking after him.

The two continued down the hallway, Adeline still fidgeting uncomfortably in the oversized shirt. Her fingers brushed against the hem, tugging at it anxiously. Enzo, noticing her squirming, suddenly stopped in his tracks again and snapped his fingers.

Before Adeline could ask what he was doing, a deep voice came from behind her. "Did you need something, boss?"

Adeline screamed, spinning around to find Andrei standing there with his head slightly bowed. She looked at him in disbelief, her eyes widened as she stabbed her finger in his direction. "Where the hell did you come from? I didn't see you nearby!" She glanced around, sure she hadn't passed him the entire time they were walking. "How did you get here so fast?"

Andrei didn't answer, waiting for instructions from Enzo. Enzo, meanwhile, looked completely unbothered by her outburst. "Go to my closet and grab a T-shirt for her, quickly."

With a quick bow, Andrei left, and Adeline rolled her eyes, turning to Enzo. "Another one of your clothes? Seriously?"

"Would you rather walk around like that?" he asked, pointing down at her chest.

Adeline huffed, muttering, "Shut up," as she looked down at the floor.

Moments later, Andrei returned, holding a neatly folded black T-shirt. He handed it to Enzo, bowing again before leaving.

Enzo unfolded the shirt, holding it up for Adeline to see. "Here," he said, motioning toward a smaller building just next to the garage that looked like a storage room. "Go in there and change."

Adeline raised an eyebrow, pointing at the building. "In there?"

"Would you prefer to change out here in the open? I can turn around if that makes you feel better."

"Fine. I'll change in the damn room." She snatched the shirt from his hands and turned, stomping off towards the small building.

------

The sound of Evelyn's voice pierced the air, echoing through the room as she yelled, "You got attacked!?" Adeline, who was already juggling shopping bags, nearly dropped everything in surprise.

Realizing how loud she was, Evelyn's eyes widened, and she quickly lowered her voice. "Attacked?" she whispered, leaning closer to Adeline. "What do you mean, attacked? Who would do such a thing?"

Adeline sighed, her shoulders slumping as she placed the bags on the floor to free her hand. "I'm not sure yet, but for now…" She trailed off, groaning as if the words were physically painful to say. She gestured over her shoulder at Enzo, who stood a few feet away, leaning against the wall.

Adeline looked back at Evelyn and finished, "... I'm staying with him."

Evelyn's eyes darted to where Adeline gestured, and she froze, her mouth slightly agape as she took in the sight of Enzo. For a moment, she looked like she was scanning him from head to toe, and then, her lips curled into a sly smirk. She nudged Adeline's side with her elbow and chuckled. "Is he your man?"

Adeline gasped. "What? No, I—" She tried to explain, but Evelyn wasn't listening.

Evelyn grabbed Adeline's arm, shaking her slightly as her excitement bubbled over. "You've been dating him this whole time, haven't you? Oh my God, Adeline!" she gushed. "No wonder you're so cold to other guys. You've already got him!"

Evelyn's eyes darted to the bags on the floor, then down to the elegant red dress Adeline was wearing, and her grin widened in awe. "He bought you all of this?! He must be loaded. Adeline, he's rich, isn't he?!"

Adeline groaned, throwing her head back for a moment. When she looked back at Evelyn, she was still talking. Her hand shot out and grabbed Evelyn's head, gently gripping one side as she looked her straight in the eye. "Evelyn. Calm down for one second and listen, okay?"

Evelyn chuckled nervously and nodded. "Okay, okay, I'm listening."
