Sweet Revenge With My Billionaire Vampire

Chapter 6: Awake 06

Her eyes darted toward the tall mirror propped against the far wall. Clenching her fists, she approached it, each step hesitant as she looked at her reflection. Her hair was still a bit wild from sleep, but nothing seemed out of place apart from her arm. Sighing, she turned away and spotted a pair of pink, plush slippers at the foot of the bed. They looked oddly out of place in the sophisticated room, but without much thought, she slid her feet into them and moved towards the door.

She reached the large door at the end of the room and pulled it open before stepping out into the hallway. The corridor was just as grand as the bedroom, its dark walls lined with frames and golden sconces. She walked slowly, her eyes darting between the rows of doors on either side, hoping to see someone who could explain where she was and what was going on.

Lost in thought, she wasn't paying attention when she accidentally collided with something solid. A soft gasp escaped her lips, and she stumbled back, but before she could fall, a pair of strong hands caught her in a gentle grip, steadying her. Adeline flinched, and her breath hitched as she looked up, locking eyes with a man towering over her.

The tall man gently let go and stood before her, his pale face expressionless. He wore a black tux that looked like it belonged to a mannequin, and his hair was slicked back neatly. "Careful," the man said, giving her a short bow.

Adeline gasped again, stepping back quickly and putting distance between them. "Who... who are you?" she stammered. "And where am I?"

The man didn't immediately answer, instead angling his head slightly, observing her. Without warning, he reached out, brushing a strand of hair from her face and resting the back of his hand on her forehead to check her temperature. The touch startled her, and she stiffened, but she didn't move. His expression remained unreadable as he examined her, his eyes shifting to her bandaged arm.

"I'm glad to see you're awake. You don't feel anything odd, do you? Aside from your injury."

Adeline blinked, slowly shaking her head. "I... No, I don't think so," she muttered. "Mostly—"

Before she could finish, the man stepped forward and placed a hand lightly on her back. The unexpected gesture made her tense again, but he didn't seem to notice. He began guiding her gently down the hall.

"That's good to hear," he said as they walked. "You'll need to rest more, but for now, come with me."

Confused, Adeline looked up at Andrei as they walked down the hallway. Her steps faltered slightly as she blinked up at him, her brow furrowed. "Where are we going? And you still haven't answered my questions."

Andrei glanced down at her and gave a slight nod, acknowledging her concerns, before responding, "Master wishes to see you. He will answer all of your questions."

Adeline's confusion deepening as she turned her gaze downward. "Master?" she thought to herself, biting her bottom lip nervously. "Who the hell is that?"

When they reached the end of the hallway, Andrei stopped in front of an elevator. He pressed the button, and the doors slid open. Adeline hesitated for a moment before stepping inside with him.

When the elevator stopped on the first floor, and the doors opened again, they were met with a corridor much like the last one. They walked for a little bit before stopping in front of a door. Andrei knocked twice before pushing it open. He stepped to the side, bowing and gesturing for her to enter. Adeline hesitated, her brow arching up as she tried to peer inside. From where she stood, all she could see was a massive desk at the center of the room and a large leather chair facing a tall glass window. The chair was turned away from her, its occupant hidden from view.

The moment she stepped inside, the door closed behind her, making her jump. She turned back toward it, but Andrei was already gone.

Suddenly, the chair spun around, revealing a man. He was tall even when seated, with blue eyes similar to Adeline's and his dark hair tied back in a rough bun. He leaned back in the chair with a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. His eyes roamed her from head to toe, stopping momentarily on the colorful pink slippers on her feet, which looked terrible with her dark clothes. He let out a small chuckle, shaking his head."What an interesting fit."

Adeline glanced down at herself, and her brows furrowed. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, but she quickly composed herself and crossed her arms. staring at him warily.

The man gestured toward the chair opposite him. "Come, sit."

Adeline glanced at the chair, then back at the door, thinking of bolting, but the man's laugh snapped her out of her thoughts.

"What are you so scared of?" he teased. "I'm not going to hurt you, princess."

Her face scrunched in annoyance at the nickname, but she brushed it off and stepped forward, sitting down on the chair. "Who are you?" she demanded. "Where am I? And how did I get here?"

The man chuckled again, reaching into the pocket of his jacket. He pulled out a card and slid it across the desk toward her. Then he leaned back, crossing his legs as he rested an arm on the chair's armrest. "I'm Enzo Laureati. The man who saved your life last night."

Adeline blinked at him and then glanced down at the card, picking it up with her uninjured hand. The name "Enzo Laureati" was printed in bold gold letters, along with a phone number and an address.

"You ran in front of my car in the middle of the road," Enzo continued, his blue eyes watching her intently. "You passed out before you could say a word."

Adeline's grip on the card tightened as she processed his words. She muttered under her breath, "I... passed out on the road?"
