Sweet Revenge With My Billionaire Vampire

Chapter 8: Be My Fiancée 08

He scoffed and retreated a step, his arms folding tightly over his chest. "Seriously, though. What are you planning to do? Go back there and confront them? Or are you going to waltz in and act like nothing happened?"

Adeline opened her mouth to respond but quickly closed it, unsure of what to say.

"Unbelievable," he said, shaking his head. "Let me spell it out for you, princess. If you step foot back there, I guarantee you'll be dead by tomorrow morning. They already failed once—they won't fail again."

"You think they'll just give up because you escaped once? They'll be more prepared next time. Smarter. Deadlier. Do you really want to make it that easy for them?"

Adeline's gaze fell to the floor as her fingers unconsciously rubbed against the bandages on her injured arm. She took a shaky breath before nodding, agreeing with Enzo. "You're right. It's too dangerous to go back... for now."

Enzo's expression softened and his smirk returned. "Now you're starting to use that brain of yours."

Adeline's forehead creased and eyebrows drew together, her lips pursing as she frowned, not appreciating his condescension.

"What do you want me to do, then?"

Enzo's lips curved into a sly smile as he stepped closer. He gently reached for her wrist—the one connected to her injured arm—and lifted it carefully, his thumb brushing against the bandage as he spoke. "How about we make a deal?"

Adeline's eyes widened, and she quickly yanked her hand away. Her hands shot out to push him back as she scowled. "I knew it!" Her face twisted in disgust. "You're just trying to get something out of me, aren't you?"

Enzo staggered back slightly before rolling his eyes. "Oh, for the love of—" He spun around and gestured to the room around them, the lavish office, the massive chandelier hanging above, the elegant walls, and the expensive furniture.

"Do me a favor, princess, and look around. Do you even realize how much this mansion alone costs?" He gestured toward the tall windows, hinting at the estate beyond. "I'm a fucking billionaire, Adeline Smith. What could I possibly want from a little girl like you?"

Adeline glanced around the office for a few seconds before also rolling her eyes, her lips pressed into a thin line. "Fine, what's your deal?"

"It's simple. I want you to stay here, in my mansion, until you're fully healed."

Adeline immediately raised a hand, her finger pointing in objection. "No way—"

"Ah, ah, ah." He held up a hand, cutting her off. "I'm not done. In return, I'll help you get your inheritance."

The words caught her attention. Adeline had been ready to refuse no matter what he said, but now her brows were raised with interest. "And how exactly do you plan to do that?" she asked skeptically.

A devilish smirk crept up his face as he clasped his hands behind his back, stepping closer once again. "It's simple, really. I'll become your fiancé."

Adeline let out a small and breathy laugh, simultaneously shaking her head in disbelief. "What?"

"We'll get married. You'll secure your inheritance, and once everything is settled," he paused, his hand reaching out to pat her head, "we'll divorce. Clean and simple."

She immediately knocked his hand away, frowning as she tried to process the absurdity of what he was saying.

"That is, if you still want to divorce by then." Enzo added, wiggling his eyebrows teasingly.

Her cheeks flushed, and she instinctively pushed him back, flustered and annoyed. "You're insane!" she muttered, looking away as she tried to compose herself.

Enzo, clearly enjoying her reaction, laughed and stepped back, holding his hands up in mock surrender, before extending one toward her in a handshake. "So, what do you say? Do we have a deal, or not?"

Adeline stared at his outstretched hand and then back at him before swatting it away. "I'll think about it."

"Fair enough," he replied with a nod. "You have until you're fully healed to decide. Take your time."

Adeline turned on her heel, making her way toward the door. She placed her hand on the doorknob, but something made her pause. Glancing back over her shoulder, she locked eyes with him. "Why are you doing all this? What do you really want?"

Enzo shrugged, turning his back to her as he walked toward the tall windows overlooking the estate. "I'm bored," he said nonchalantly. With a dismissive wave of his hand, he added, "Off you go now."

Adeline found his answer a bit odd and wanted to press further, but she decided to leave it for another time. With a small huff, she turned back to the door, opening it and stepping out of the room.

Enzo let out a long sigh as the door clicked shut behind Adeline. He sat down in his chair, twirling a pen between his fingers as he stared at nothing in particular. Moments later, the door opened again, and Andrei stepped in. He stopped in front of the desk and bowed deeply.

"My liege."

"Andrei. I want you to keep an eye on her."

Andrei's brow furrowed slightly, his lips parting in confusion. "Is everything alright, my liege?"

"Yes," Enzo replied, leaning forward and planting his elbows on the desk, clasping his hands together. "That girl is my mate."

"Master, but she's a human."

Enzo nodded. "Rare, isn't it? But not impossible. When I touched her yesterday, my heart—" he placed a hand over his chest, as if to express what he was saying. "It started beating. There's no doubt. She's my mate."

"That said," he added. "I don't feel anything for her. No attraction, no pull. She's an interesting little thing, though. Amusing, even. For now, I'll keep her around."

Andrei simply nodded, giving him a short bow. "Is there anything you'd have me do?"

"Hire a cook. A proper one. She's going to need human meals. I've never needed one since..."

Enzo had never needed a cook since human food tasted like ash to vampires. His and Andrei's way of feeding was through blood bags he often bought.

Andrei nodded and turned to leave, but before he could take another step, Enzo snapped his fingers, causing him to halt. "One more thing. No more 'my liege' or 'master.' From now on, call me boss. Understood?"

Andrei bowed once more. "Understood... boss," he said, turning and exiting the office.
