Chapter 8: Sacred Ground

The two "strips" of the abomination reached Rebecca and morphed into two unique beings.

The serpent type was so black that it looked more shadow than flesh. Its head flared out like a cobra's and its scales radiated iridescent greens, reds, and blues. Its body was wide and muscles rippled and flexed beneath its skin. He had no legs and stood tall upon a long thick "tail". Its eyes were a dark blue-black color.

The beetle type creature had the head of a dung beetle with thick chitin, in shades of purple and yellow, covering its body. It stood on two legs covered in thick hair like bristles and it had six arms covered in the same bristles. It had two large eyes that seemed to peer into one's soul.

Both creatures stood before Rebecca for a brief moment and then, rather suddenly, became streaks of black and purple – yellow light and entered Rebecca's head.

Rebecca stood still for a moment as if in deep thought. Her eyes sparkled as she thought, 'Hmm… There is no sign of corruption. Somehow Rachel purified them as she separated them. Is this even feasible?

I know she has all kinds of abilities I am oblivious to but this is pretty ridiculous.

She cleared her mind and focused on her new acquisitions.

My new serpent can bore into a person's soul and plant subliminal thoughts and yearnings to subjugate them. This subjugation could last indefinitely or for a few seconds depending on the strength of the target and the will of the serpent. The serpent could also put a target into a dense mental labyrinth that would originate from the target's own consciousness. It also had abilities that were instantaneous that included a psychic paralysis ability, and an ability that instilled intense fear in a target.

'The beetle creature was a high level being that could bring a target under its control with a mere thought. It had two illusory type abilities that placed individuals in labyrinth or trial scenarios both based on the target's own experiences. It also could cause severe damage to a target's soul with attacks that bypassed flesh and attacked the soul directly.

As Rebecca learned about the serpent and beetle Rachel moved forward.

Six streaks of light moved to various parts of her body and only the strip with her grandmother's face remained. She gazed upon the familiar face not sure if she should allow her peace or use her as a weapon.

The dilemma twisted like a knife in her heart.

Her grandmother's eyes focused and a tranquil smile bloomed on the face.

An ethereal voice brushed across Rachel's mind like soft downy feathers. "Use me well my dearest. I can be your greatest asset if you wish it."

The strip turned into a streak of rainbow light and entered Rachel's forehead.

Rebecca, gazing at the scene asked "How did you purify them so quickly?" Rebecca knew that Rachel's abilities were several levels above her own but purifying nine souls in one or two moves was beyond her capacity to comprehend.

Rachel walked forward "I can purify with my unique connection with the realm, so it is essentially instantaneous and I can do it with just a thought.

"Let's go. We need to reposition the continent and then meet up with the others and formulate a plan. I have to return to the Ambruce Realm and complete the task there soon."

She reached out for Rebecca, who grasped her arm below the wrist, they took two steps forward together and disappeared from the spot.

As soon as they disappeared fine vines with rainbow colored flowers grew up and through the building. The building seemed to move between realms before solidifying and becoming still.

People on the streets that witnessed this touched their chests forming an eight point star in reverence to The God of the Comos.
