Chapter 7: Chapter 7 - Completing The Quest.
Chapter 7 - Completing The Quest.
As he looked around the room, he noticed that the sun was beginning to rise, casting a warm glow through the window. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, and swung his legs over the side of the bed.
He got out of bed and headed to the bathroom for a refreshing shower. The warm water cascaded down his body, washing away the remnants of the nightmare. He felt invigorated as he stepped out of the shower and began to get dressed.
Downstairs, the aroma of freshly cooked breakfast wafted through the air, making Mohamed's stomach growl with hunger. He entered the kitchen to find Mrs. Jenkins busy at the stove, a warm smile on her face.
The kitchen was equipped with futuristic gadgets and tools, A stillsuit-like device hung on the wall, its tubes and hoses coiled like a mechanical snake. On the counter, a food synthesizer whirred to life, creating a steaming plate of pancakes and scrambled eggs.
"Good morning, dear! Come join me for breakfast," Mrs. Jenkins said, beckoning him to the table.
Mohamed took a seat, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Mrs. Jenkins for taking him in. She placed a steaming plate of food in front of him, and he dug in, savoring the delicious flavors.
Just then, Angel walked into the kitchen, greeting her grandma and Mohamed with a warm smile. "Good morning, Grandma! Good morning, Mohamed!" she said, giving her grandma a hug.
"Good morning, dear!" Mrs. Jenkins replied, returning the hug. "Come join us for breakfast."
Angel took a seat next to Mohamed, and Mrs. Jenkins placed a steaming plate of food in front of her. As they ate, Mrs. Jenkins asked Mohamed about how he was doing.
Mohamed hesitated for a moment before opening up about his struggles with his aunt and his feelings of uncertainty about his future. Mrs. Jenkins listened attentively, her expression warm and supportive. Angel listened quietly, her eyes fixed on Mohamed with a look of concern.
Mohamed felt a sense of comfort and security in their presence, and he found himself opening up to them in ways he never thought possible.
After breakfast, Mohamed and Angel got ready to head to school. Mrs. Jenkins handed Mohamed a small device that looked like a smartwatch. "This is a comms device," she explained. "You can use it to stay in touch with me and Angel throughout the day."
Mohamed thanked her and put on the device. He and Angel headed out the door, walking to school together in comfortable silence.
**********
As they walked to school, Angel turned to Mohamed and asked, "So, Mohamed, what's your favorite subject in school?"
Mohamed thought for a moment before responding, "I think my favorite subject is Arcana. I love learning about different outworlds, Gifts and different time periods."
Angel's eyes lit up. "I love Arcana too! I've always been fascinated by the Outworlds realm." Mrs. silver is also the reason why I love Arcana.
The two of them continued to chat, asking each other questions and sharing stories about their interests and hobbies. Mohamed found himself feeling more and more at ease in Angel's presence, and he could tell that she felt the same way.
As they turned a corner, they came across a homeless man sitting on the sidewalk. He was rummaging through a trash can, looking for food or scraps. Mohamed felt a pang of sympathy for the man, and he remembered the quest he had received earlier: "Help the Homeless."
Angel seemed to sense Mohamed's hesitation, and she turned to him with a questioning look. "Do you want to help him?" she asked.
Mohamed nodded, and Angel smiled. Together, they approached the homeless man and offered to buy him a meal. The man's face lit up with gratitude, and he accepted their offer.
As they walked with the homeless man to a nearby café, Mohamed realized that he had completed the quest. He felt a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment, knowing that he had made a positive impact on someone's life.
The System's notification popped up in his sight:
[QUEST COMPLETE]
[Quest: Help the Homeless]
[Objective: Provide food or shelter to a homeless person]
[Progress: 100%]
[Rewards: +10 Influence Points]
Mohamed smiled, feeling proud of himself for completing the quest.
----
As they walked to school Mohamed turned to Angel with a smile. "Hey, I've got a game tomorrow. Want to come watch me play?"
Angel's eyes widened in surprise. "You play football? I had no idea!"
Mohamed chuckled. "Yeah, I'm the new kid on the team. But I'm pretty excited about it."
Angel grinned. "I'll definitely be there, cheering your name! You can count on me."
Mohamed felt a warmth spread through his chest at her words. He couldn't remember the last time someone had offered to do something for him without expecting anything in return.
"Thanks, Angel," he said, feeling a sense of gratitude. "That means a lot to me. You're the first person who's done something nice for me without wanting anything back."
Angel's expression softened, and she placed a hand on his arm. "I'm happy to do it, Mohamed. You deserve it."
As they walked back to school, the conversation turned to the upcoming Awakening test. Mohamed and Angel both expressed their excitement and nerves about the test.
"I'm so anxious about it," Angel admitted. "I've heard it's really tough."
Mohamed nodded in agreement. "I'm nervous too. But I'm also excited to see what happens. I've heard that the test can reveal some pretty scary things."
Angel's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Like what?"
Mohamed shrugged. "I'm not entirely sure. But I've heard rumors that it can unlock hidden talents or abilities about ourselves."
Angel's face lit up with excitement. "That sounds amazing! I hope I get to discover something cool about myself."
Mohamed smiled, feeling a sense of camaraderie with Angel. "I'm sure you will," he said. "We'll face the test together, okay?"
Angel grinned, and the two of them shared a smile as they walked into school.
As they walked, Mohamed turned to Angel with a curious expression. "Hey, have you ever thought about what kind of abilities you'd like to have if you could choose?"
Angel's eyes lit up. "Actually, I have! I think it would be amazing to have super strength. Just imagine being able to lift anything and protect the people you care about."
Mohamed nodded thoughtfully. "That's a great choice. I can see why you'd want that ability."
Angel turned to him with a curious expression. "What about you? What kind of abilities would you like to have?"
Mohamed grinned. "I think it would be awesome to have super speed. Just imagine being able to run faster than anyone else, to be able to react in a split second."
Angel's eyes widened. "That's a great choice too! I can see why you'd want that ability. But what makes you think super speed would be so useful?"
Mohamed thought for a moment before responding. "I think it would be really helpful in emergency situations. Imagine being able to rush to someone's aid in a split second, or being able to outrun danger. It would be an amazing feeling, knowing that you have the power to make a difference.
But let's be clear, I'm not the type to play hero. I don't go around looking for trouble or trying to save the world. But... if someone I care about is in danger, I'll use my speed to protect them, no matter what it takes. Family, friends... they're worth fighting for. And with super speed, I'll be able to keep them safe, no matter what dangers come our way."
Angel listened to Mohamed's response, her eyes locked onto his. As he spoke about protecting the people he cared about, her face began to flush with a soft pink color. She looked away, trying to composed herself, but couldn't help sneaking another glance at Mohamed. There was something about the way he spoke about protecting others that made her heart skip a beat.
Angel tried to act cool, attempting to brush off the fluttery feeling in her chest. "Yeah, that makes sense," she said, trying to sound nonchalant. "I mean, who wouldn't want to protect the people they care about?"
As she spoke, she glanced around and realized that they had arrived at school. She seized the opportunity to make a quick escape, not wanting Mohamed to notice the blush that was still lingering on her face.
"Hey, I'll catch you later, Mohamed," she said, already starting to walk away. "I've got to go put my cat in my locker. i mean pu.. take my book from my locker before class starts." she stammered
Mohamed watched her go, feeling a bit confused. "Okay, see you later, Angel," he called out after her.
As he watched her hurry away, he couldn't help but notice that she seemed a bit... flustered. He wondered if he had said something to make her uncomfortable, but he couldn't think of anything that would have caused her to react that way.
Shrugging it off, Mohamed headed to his own locker, feeling a bit puzzled but also curious about what had just happened.
------
As the day went on, Mohamed and Angel went their separate ways, attending their respective classes and participating in school activities. The day flew by in a blur of lectures, discussions, and homework assignments.
Finally, the school bell rang, signaling the end of the school day. Mohamed gathered his belongings and headed out of the classroom, feeling a sense of relief that the day was over.
As he walked out of the school building, Mohamed decided to check his daily tasks.
The System's notification popped up, displaying his daily tasks:
[DAILY TASKS]
[-Sit Ups: 0/300]
[-Lift a weight of 200kg: 0/200kg]
[-Climb A mountain]

As Mohamed's eyes scanned the tasks, he felt a surge of excitement and determination. He was ready to tackle each challenge head-on.
First up were the sit-ups. Mohamed found a quiet spot on the school grounds, away from prying eyes. Mohamed lay down on the grass, his hands behind his head and his feet flat on the ground. The holographic display began to count down, and Mohamed started doing sit-ups at a rapid pace.
The System tracked his progress, Mohamed gritted his teeth, focused on his technique, feeling his abdominal muscles burning with each repetition.
As he approached the 300th sit-up, Mohamed gritted his teeth and pushed through the fatigue. He completed the final sit-up with precision, feeling a sense of accomplishment.
Next up was the weightlifting challenge. Mohamed made his way to the school's athletic field, where he found a strange, futuristic-looking weightlifting machine. The machine was adorned with glowing blue lines and holographic displays.
Mohamed approached the machine and selected the 200kg weight level. The machine hummed to life, and a massive, glowing weight appeared above Mohamed's head, suspended by an anti-gravity field.
Mohamed grasped the weightlifting bar and initiated the lift. The weight began to descend, and Mohamed felt his muscles straining against the massive load.
He focused on his form and technique, feeling the weight's energy coursing through his body. With a final burst of strength, Mohamed completed the lift, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Finally, it was time for the mountain-climbing challenge. Mohamed made his way to the outskirts of the city, where a massive, holographic mountain range appeared before him.
Mohamed selected a towering, snow-capped peak and began to climb. As he climbed, Mohamed encountered treacherous terrain and inclement weather. He navigated steep cliffs, icy slopes, and raging storms, using his quick reflexes to overcome each obstacle.
Finally, Mohamed reached the summit, feeling a sense of exhilaration and pride. He had completed all three challenges.
A loud, satisfying "DING" sound echoed in his head, signaling the completion of his daily tasks.
