Taming my Husbands in Another world

Chapter 3: [Volume 1] Chapter 3 -New Life

---

After Aunt Zhang left, Jiho looked at the watery soup with only a few grains of rice and frowned. "Even in prison, I never ate anything like this," she muttered, shaking her head in disappointment.

But due to her body being hungry for four days, she sighed and picked up the bowl, resigned to eating whatever meager sustenance was available.

As she drank it, she only tasted bland porridge with little salt. "This is worse than I expected," Jiho murmured, trying to force herself to finish the tasteless meal.

After resting and organizing the original owner's memories, she discovered that both of the original owner's parents had passed away.

"So that's why the family dynamic feels so empty," Jiho whispered to herself, feeling a pang of sadness for the original owner's loss. Her father died during childbirth, and her mother cared for her until two years ago before leaving.

Following her mother's death, the original Jiho returned from school to stay in the village, teaching students. During that time, she met a man and fell in love with him. They promised to get married, but one month ago, he married a rich woman.

"When I confronted him in the county town," Jiho recounted, her voice tinged with bitterness, "he mocked her poverty and foolishness." Due to her weak body from a premature birth, the original owner couldn't handle the betrayal.

"She died in front of her parents' tomb," Jiho said softly, a mixture of sadness and determination in her eyes, and so after her death, Jiho transmigrated into her body, inheriting these memories and emotions.

Regarding her father's death due to childbirth, in this world, there are three genders: women, men, and mer. Some individuals appear as men but are weaker and carry a pregnancy mark on their heads. They can marry either men or women and, being more mer than men or women, any person can have multiple mers as concubines but can only marry one woman. Jiho exclaimed, "What the hell is wrong with this world?" She muttered with annoyance, first dying at the hands of those pests and now transmigrating into a body that died for a man... ahem, I mean a mer.

Jiho rubbed her forehead in frustration, feeling overwhelmed by the sudden influx of new information.

She closed her eyes for a brief rest, trying to process everything she had learned so far. When she awoke, she stood up and walked toward the house.

As she explored the surroundings, Jiho realized that the house was situated near the mountain, far from the village. This explained why there were fewer villagers around.

Her exploration also led her to discover that the school, previously overseen by the owner of the body she now inhabited, had closed down seven months ago. The reason? A drought had hit the region, leaving people unable to pay the fees for their children's education.

Examining the house she now inhabited, Jiho noted its sturdy construction of bricks and tiles. "It's a bit worn down, but still habitable," she muttered to herself, running her hand over the rough texture of the bricks.

As she walked along the perimeter of the house, Jiho observed the tall brick walls that enclosed it.

"These walls are taller than usual," she remarked aloud, realizing their purpose for safety and protection.

"They must have been built by the original owner's parents," Jiho thought, recognizing the walls as a testament to their love and concern for their child.

Jiho continued her exploration, mentally mapping out the layout of the three rooms inside. "The main room on the east side, where her parents used to live," Jiho remarked, gesturing towards the designated area.

"Then there's one room for the original owner, a guest room, and a kitchen attached to the main room."

Her inspection led her to the unusual location of the bathroom. "It's covered by wooden walls and located in the pigpen," she observed, raising an eyebrow while looking at the bathroom.

Glancing towards the pigpen, Jiho remarked, "It seems like it's been a while since anything was raised there."

Walking around the yard, Jiho surveyed the surroundings. "It's quite spacious, but there are no hens or ducks," she noted, a concerned expression crossing her face.

"Judging by the dryness of the land, it appears that there hasn't been rain for some time." Her worry deepened as she approached the well.

"Most of the water here has already gone," Jiho observed, furrowing her brow at the diminishing water supply. "It's bad. If my memory serves me right, there was no water in the river, and now this well..." Half of the sentence was still stuck in her throat.

Turning her attention to the kitchen, Jiho stepped inside. "Just an earth stove and a dilapidated wooden table," she remarked, inspecting the jars and bowls. "It looks worn but still functional."

"There's only a little bit of salt, vinegar, and only one cup of brown," Jiho remarked with a sigh, disappointment evident in her tone.

SIGH

'look like I need to work much harder than I thought ', a tried expression formed on jiho face as she looked at ingredients and house.

After inspecting the house, she placed the bowl and tray that Aunt Zhang had given her into the basket after putting half a bowl of brown rice and carried it on her back.

"Sigh, I only have this much rice left," she said, looking heartbroken at the basket.

She exited the courtyard, closed the gate, and noticed the house was near the mountain, while the village was about half a kilometer away. Her father liked peace, so after marriage, her mother moved out of the house and built one near the mountain.

( Here father and mother mentioned is original owner parents)

As she roamed, she eventually made her way to the village. Strolling through it, she noticed the river was nearly dry. Continuing on, she entered the village and heard shouts from people. While children played, adults wore somber expressions. All the fields were parched, leaving nothing to eat. Passing a house, she heard someone shout. Ignoring it, she walked past the gate and bumped into a man.
