Team Rocket’s Second-in-Command!

Chapter 119: Team Rocket’s Second-in-Command! [119] [X-MAS]

Merry Christmas!

"Fire Punch!"

At Blaine's command, flames enveloped Magmar's arm as it leapt forward, driving a fiery fist straight into Charizard's Fire Blast.

Boom!

With a resounding explosion, Magmar's punch shattered the Fire Blast, dispersing the flames in all directions.

Despite being briefly engulfed by the blast, Magmar emerged unfazed. For a Pokémon capable of swimming in molten lava, the fire's heat was merely a tickle.

With a single punch, Blaine's Magmar had not only deflected the attack, but shown it was on a whole different level than Arcanine.

The flames around it flickered as Magmar shook them off. Then, with a powerful push, it lunged toward Charizard, its claw raised to strike.

"Brick Break!"

The slicing sound of Magmar's claw cutting through the air reached Charizard's ears, and it locked eyes with its rapidly advancing opponent.

Charizard hadn't expected Magmar to close in so fast, but it didn't hesitate to respond.

Whoosh!

Flapping its newly evolved wings, Charizard shot into the air, evading the attack, then unleashed a Flamethrower down at Magmar.

But instead of appearing troubled by Charizard's aerial advantage, Magmar responded with practiced calm. It had faced many airborne foes before.

In a rapid counter, Magmar opened its mouth and released a blast of flames.

"Flamethrower!"

The two streams of fire collided in midair. On one side was Charizard, fueled by its innate Fire affinity and Blaze ability. On the other, Blaine's seasoned ace, Magmar.

For a few intense moments, the two Flamethrowers were evenly matched, neither side gaining the upper hand.

And that was exactly what Luo Yuan wanted.

In a contest of endurance, Charizard's rigorous training had turned it into a powerhouse. Its stamina was on another level.

If this continued, Luo Yuan was certain that Magmar would be the first to falter.

Blaine, however, didn't realize this yet.

As far as he could tell, Charizard must have burned through a considerable amount of energy in its battle with Arcanine, especially with all those Fire Blasts.

Charizard had to be running low by now… or so he thought.

But reality quickly proved him wrong.

Some creatures defy expectations precisely because they break all known rules.

The fire duel raged for a full three minutes.

During that time, Blaine watched in disbelief as his Magmar's face began to turn red from exertion, while Charizard only grew more energized.

Charizard didn't seem fatigued at all; in fact, it even took a moment to scratch its belly with one claw mid-attack.

At this point, even Blaine couldn't ignore the signs—this Charizard was far from ordinary.

"Where did he find a Charizard like this?"

Blaine was utterly baffled. This Charizard broke every norm he knew about the species.

Left with no choice, Blaine decided to change tactics.

"Magmar, use Smokescreen to escape!"

Gah!

Relieved by the command, Magmar took a deep breath and exhaled a dense cloud of smoke, blanketing the field in thick, obscuring darkness.

It then slipped into the smoke, taking cover to catch its breath away from Charizard's relentless onslaught.

Seeing the battlefield clouded in smoke, Luo Yuan raised an eyebrow, quickly deducing Blaine's intention.

"Trying to catch a break?"

With its newly acquired wings, Charizard was still getting used to its flight abilities; dispersing a Smokescreen of this scale would take some time, which would give Magmar the breather Blaine wanted.

In addition, Magmar could potentially use the smoke for cover and launch a surprise attack.

Luo Yuan decided not to waste any effort clearing the smoke.

Instead, he gave Charizard a signal from the ground, a small smile on his face.

"Charizard, don't hold back. Give it everything you've got!"

"All-out" was one of the commands Luo Yuan had developed with Charizard, signaling it to unleash its full power without restraint, overwhelming the opponent with a single, brutal barrage.

Upon receiving the signal, a fierce gleam flashed in Charizard's eyes. The flames on its tail roared to life, nearly doubling in size.

Roar!

With a thunderous cry, Charizard unleashed a massive stream of flames, igniting a huge Fire Spin that engulfed most of the battlefield.

While Magmar was hidden in the smoke, there was no way it could have escaped the range of Charizard's blazing vortex in such a short time.

The flames shot up, twisting into a towering inferno that lifted the smokescreen, turning it into a column of blackened fire.

Then Charizard began an unrestrained barrage.

Fire Blast, another Fire Blast… and yet another Fire Blast!

Explosions reverberated through the battlefield as Charizard systematically targeted every area within the vortex, searching for Magmar with raw firepower.

Blaine hadn't expected such an extravagant, brute-force method to counter the Smokescreen, and could only watch, stunned.

Then, amidst the chaos, a pained cry echoed from the inferno.

Magmar was flung from the smoke by a direct hit from Fire Blast.

"Gotcha!"

"Not good!" Blaine's face fell. "Magmar, dodge!"

But before he could finish, Charizard spat out three fireballs in quick succession.

The Fire Blasts formed a triangular formation in midair, trapping Magmar from all sides.

Without hesitation, Charizard dived down, leading with yet another Fire Blast.

Feeling trapped, Magmar's heart raced. Every possible escape route was cut off by Charizard's relentless assault.

Was there no escape?

Desperate, Magmar clenched its fist, flames engulfing it as it prepared another Fire Punch to punch through the nearest Fire Blast and force an escape route.

To Magmar's credit, it managed to clear a path.

But that flash of hope disappeared in an instant, for waiting behind the shattered Fire Blast was Charizard, poised and ready.

"Brick Break!"

With its claws glowing white, Charizard struck Magmar with a crushing blow.

The attack hit Magmar squarely on the forehead.

Disoriented, Magmar crashed to the ground, the force of Charizard's blow pinning it there.
