Chapter 1: 1) Night Parade of 1000 Demons
I blasted music in my new headphones which UTTERLY destroyed my ears while scanning the shelves for my favorite crayfish flavored potato chips. The night shift was oddly slow because usually, I'd have at least three to five customers.
Lucky me, I guess.
Then I hear a faint jingle at the door. Finally, a customer!
"Welcome to—"
A woman in a black uniform sprinted at me, signaling to go out back but shortly after, a giant macabre figure snatched them by the ankle and chomped down, severing them cleanly in half.
As I'm watching in absolute terror, that…THING looks strikingly similar to the small entities I've been seeing since I was a kid. I've never seen one so massive before and I must say..that thing is damn horrifying!
Instinct came over me and ducked behind the counter where I held my metal baseball bat, attempting to not make any sounds or movements.
God, please I will never take another premium bento if I get out of here alive!!
I could hear the faint sniffing and kind of wet stepping slap around the store. The steps were slow and unnerving, but weren't getting any closer. Maybe I could escape out the back exit!
Slowly maneuvering around the chair with my bat in hand, I crawled from behind the counter, scooting closer to the door.
"Almost…there..!" I whispered.
The beast let out an unsettling trill and started moving closer to me! I ceased all movement and quickly hid behind one of the shelves, shaking violently.
Oh my god I'm so dead, I'm so dead!!
Wait, I have an almost genius idea!
I quietly grabbed one of the bags of crayfish chips, trying not to make any sudden movements or sounds (to no avail of course).
AND TOSS TO THE OTHER SIDE
ROOOOOAAAARRRRRRRRR
The creature IMMEDIATELY attacked the bag and thrashed it violently
This was my chance to escape! I left all my bags and ran to the back door with only my bat, phone, and headphones on my person. When I reached the exit, I shoved the door open and made it out!
Sweat trickled down my face as I tried catching my breath. I knocked over some debris in front of the door since I could only lock from the inside.
"Whew, that was too close. Now to make a break for i—"
I watched as a large bat with no eyes, giant ears, and atrociously spiky teeth dropped on the fence in front of me while holding a severed arm in its foot claw. I stopped dead in my tracks and we stared at each other.
It tilted it's head slightly. I felt as the gross trash was slightly falling from earlier.
I knew I should've taken out this garbage yesterday night!!
It fell over and was it was loud. AS HELL.
The bat started screeching at me, disorienting my focus and ability to see. The thing dropped the arm and tried attacking me but I was able to only slightly dodge its attack.
I darted away, hoping that crashing into the door would stun it for a little. I hopped over the fence and went around the corner, hoping to make it to the main street.
Explosions, screaming, and awful roaring could be heard close by.
Then, a thought struck me and I stopped running.
"This..this must be a bad dream! If this was real, then there would be a lot more people around right? It's Kyoto! And why wouldn't…anyone run away?"
Wait..
>There were people that came by earlier today
>There was a massive lack in the creatures for some reason
>Someone tried to get me to escape earlier?
Oh
My
GOD!
This is actually real! Did I miss an evacuation or something?! Holy shit I need to g—"
The bat made its recovery and knocked me over in a curved-arch, leaving a coarse, stinging pain in my back. I managed to get up before the next strike and caught it with a swing from my baseball bat, knocking it into the wall of my small convience store.
"Take that, asshole."
With that, I ran away into the front of the convience store, where I finally made it to the main street. I turn to my left to see the empty streets and lamp post but as I turned to my right, a bunch of uniformed individuals fought, killed, and were killed by TONS of these monsters. I never even conceived them getting this big but here I was, witnessing this slaughter of both the monsters and mysterious guardians.
Unbeknownst to me, the first lion-esque creature that killed the girl came out the small building snarling and slowing approaching me while the bat hovered adjacent to it.
"Oh shit."
I pointed out my metal bat to the both of them and shouted "stay back!"
I tried backing away, making slow skittering movements backwards while threatening. Actually, I think I may have been too close to the road because I ended up TRIPPING OVER THE CURB.
At the same time, both creatures prowled onto me at my most vulnerable state and of course, I cowered in fear, letting out my hand and shutting my eyes.
But then, I felt something surge within the deepest pits of my stomach.
In an insant, everything around me, including the road I was sitting on, my clothes, the monsters, and a large portion of my store (sadly) were melted and corroded like they were sprayed with enourmous amounts of acid.
So I sat there like an idiot, butt naked in the middle of a large crater in the road.
"What. the. FU—"
