The 70-Year Family Lets You Take Charge (Female Dominant)

Chapter 23

Chapter 23

“Su Fei, are you serious? You used to say that you wouldn’t marry anyone less handsome than Ning Xiangxiang. Have you completely given up now?” Su Fei’s former best friend, Liang Hao, said.

“Yeah, are you just giving up like this? You have no backbone.” Others started to make sarcastic remarks.

Among them, Ning Yi and Ning Er whispered to each other, “We used to think highly of Su Fei. We even thought of setting her up with our brother, but we didn’t expect her to be so spineless. Forget it.”

Su Fei crossed her arms and looked expressionlessly at the shameless group, fearing that they would interfere with her good life. She remained silent, waiting to see if they had anything worthwhile to say.

These so-called friends glanced at Su Fei, but didn’t bother to engage with her. They just stood there, looking at her coldly without speaking. Gradually, the room fell silent, as such conversations require participation from both sides to continue.

With everyone in the group silent, they all watched quietly, waiting for Su Fei to speak. Su Fei looked at them expressionlessly, feeling that they were all meddlesome busybodies.

She couldn’t deny that some of them genuinely cared about her, like Liang Hao, who respected her decisions. But she also couldn’t ignore the jealousy and envy in their eyes, seeing her living a good life.

Su Fei calmly addressed the group, “Have you all finished talking? Is there anything else you want to criticize me about? If you won’t speak, then I will.”

Liang Hao looked at Su Fei’s cold demeanor, feeling uneasy. This was the first time she had seen her like this, and she wondered if they had angered her by coming uninvited.

“We won’t say anything else. You can speak, we really have nothing more to say,” Liang Hao said weakly.

“Why do you care who I marry? Does it concern you in any way? Are you upset because I’m living well? If you have nothing better to do than gossip, don’t expect me to tolerate it.” Su Fei never thought much of these friends, especially when they were nowhere to be found when she needed them, only showing up for free meals and drinks.

They used to often ask her and Ningning for money, thinking she was foolish!

“Su Fei, you don’t like hearing the truth, do you? We’re just looking out for you! Besides, we’re only saying what you used to say yourself!” These people were still trying to justify themselves, not believing that Su Fei, who used to be such a troublemaker, could suddenly become obedient.

They figured they could still get away with mischief together in the future.

“Then let me say it again. I never wanted to marry Ning Xiangxiang. Whether you accept Ningning as my partner or not is up to you. If you don’t, then you can leave. I won’t see you off!” Su Fei was not polite at all, having spent so many years as a keyboard warrior in the modern world.

Dealing with them was a piece of cake.

“I’ll accept whoever you choose! We’re good friends, and that’s all that matters. I’ll apologize to Ningning later at dinner!” Liang Hao thought through the situation and decided to be understanding. Su Fei’s marriage was her own business.

“Okay, Su Fei, you’re really fired up now. Becoming a teacher has really changed you. You’ve become so respectable, we can’t mess with you anymore. Let’s just forget about each other.” A few of the more honest ones left directly, realizing they couldn’t manipulate Su Fei anymore.

“Don’t leave yet, everyone’s here. Let’s eat together before you go.” Ning Yi and Ning Er hurried to persuade everyone.

“We’re not eating anymore. We don’t need her food anyway! If you want to eat, stay here and eat by yourself.” With that, the group left, leaving only Liang Hao behind.

Ning Yi and Ning Er didn’t dare to offend the group, so they followed behind and left with sighs, feeling like they had wasted their time and missed out on a good meal. Ningning had prepared it, and since they didn’t eat, it was a waste.

In the kitchen, Ningning, while cooking, knew he had to give Su Fei some face sometimes. So on New Year’s Day, he didn’t want to argue with her. He made sure to do everything properly, allowing Su Fei to save face in front of her friends.

But while cooking, he heard arguing inside and then saw the group storm out. Only Liang Hao remained in the room. Ningning didn’t care about the reason for the argument; he was happy to see Su Fei distancing herself from those people. He silently approved.

Inside the room, Su Fei watched as everyone left, feeling a sense of relief. She didn’t want to associate with this group of lazy and irresponsible people anymore. Their values and outlook on life were completely different from hers.

“Why aren’t you leaving? You said so much just now,” Su Fei looked at Liang Hao, who was still lingering, and spoke calmly without getting angry.

She knew Liang Hao’s situation well. As an insider woman from the city with a good family background, she chose to stay as outsider.

“Hehe, big sis, I just feel like listening to you is never wrong. So whatever you want to do, I’m fine with it. Since you’re willing to marry Ningning, then I’ll accept him too,” Liang Hao scratched her head and said with a smile, being the kind of person who supports family over reason.

“Okay, from now on, show some respect to Ningning. It’s just him and me from now on,” Su Fei patted Liang Hao on the shoulder, acting like buddies.

“I have to ask, sister Su, why have you suddenly become so hardworking lately? Instead of going out and fooling around, you’re seriously starting to work. Have you really changed for the better?” Liang Hao was a bit skeptical because Su Fei used to be the most irresponsible among them.

Seeing that it was almost time for dinner, Su Fei realized Liang Hao was genuinely kind to her. So she didn’t mind giving her a few hints.

Su Fei whispered mysteriously, “I think the country is about to improve soon. You really need to study hard now. In a year or two, there will be new changes, and intellectuals will be valued even more. We must seize this opportunity.”

During this period, which was later dubbed the golden era by the college students, basically anyone associated with college students would have a stable job in the future. This made those college students who weren’t assigned a job particularly envious.

“Really? Will there be exams in the future? But my education isn’t enough! And my brain isn’t good either. If only I were like you, I wouldn’t have to come out and be outsider.” Liang Hao said with little confidence, remembering her parents, who were also unfair.

“Since policies are changing, the economy will definitely change too. So you must be prepared and stop fooling around aimlessly with them. Are you just going to eat and drink for free all your life? Are you going to scam people for food and drinks all the time?” Su Fei scolded Liang Hao like a child.

“By the way, Why did you all come today? We haven’t been in contact for so long.” Su Fei asked curiously, surprised by their sudden visit.

Before Liang Hao could answer, Ningning announced that dinner was ready.

“Okay, let’s talk while we eat. I’ll give you something you haven’t eaten in a long time,” Su Fei said as she brought out several cans from the room, making Liang Hao drool.
