The Abandoned Hunter

Chapter 181: The System Creators

The moment Jay heard that he was completely confused and surprised. Of course, he had heard about his father a lot from his mom and from Res too, however, he had never thought that he would hear about him from Jake too.

Jake wasn't that old, so how did he even learn about Jay's father?

Well, that was not even the right question, what Jay wanted to know was if his father was still alive because of the way Jake spoke, it was as if he knew where his father was.

"Father..."

"Is he alive?", he asked.

Guild masters were supposed to be old guys who have decided to retire, like Res, even though he was still young, he was quite powerful. Of course, for the next ten years, he would still be serving the country, however, after that, he would have to retire.

Of course, there would be many more factors to consider, however, this was just an estimation so it couldn't be said accurately.

However someone like Res would fit to be a guild master, however, in his place, Jake, who was quite young, was sitting in the guild master's position.

In any case, he was given such a position because of his overwhelming talent. Whatever it may be, right now what mattered was the news about Jay's father, at least to Jay it did.

"Huh?", now Jake was confused when Jay asked that.

"Is my father really alive?", Jay repeated himself.

No matter what, he wanted to know if his father was indeed alive, and if he was, what was his location? Where was he and what he was doing?

He wanted answers for all these questions but had no idea if Jake had them.

"Sigh looks like he hasn't informed anyone...", Jake sighed.

Jake had become the guild leader just two years ago, of course, even if it was so early, he definitely had an idea about the news that Jay's father was dead, but despite that, he was acting as if he wasn't dead, why?

Was it for Jay? Did he want Jay to become emotionally unstable?

"What do you mean? I'm getting confused..."

"Please tell me in a detailed manner..."

Jay had forgotten everything about Jake's stats by now. He was now in a completely different mood.

His grip on his weapons had loosened and his attention was only on what came out from Jake's mouth.

"Hmm..."

"I don't think it's the right time for you to know anything about your father..."

"But let me tell you this at least..."

"Your father..."

"The previous King Of Darkness..."

"He is alive..."

The moment those words left Jake's lips, the hammer and the dagger left Jay's hands and ended up falling on the floor.

Of course, the sound wasn't much because they hadn't fallen from a great height or were thrown with bizarre force.

"He is alive...?", tears ran down his eyes when he heard this.

Well, he believed Jake so easily, probably because he had mentioned the system and other kinds of stuff like leveling up. Of course, Jay was going to ask many more questions, but after hearing something which was something like his life goal, apart from being the strongest hunter, he was glad and ended up crying.

Jay kept weeping for a minute or two while kneeling on the ground by covering his face, somewhat like girls, well boys do that too so it wasn't much of a thing.

Whatever it may be, he was happy genuinely. In any case, he wanted to now ask about his location just before which Jake started to speak again.

"I did say that..."

"However I will say no more..."

"I cannot speak about his location or his work which he has been doing until now..."

"I cannot tell the reason for his hiding either..."

It seemed as if he said 'No' to every question that Jay was going to ask.

"So you can't say anything else about him?", Jay asked despite knowing what he meant by saying all those things.

"Fine...", Jay wiped all the tears and his runny nose with the handkerchief that he had.

Well, ut seemed like he was happy enough to know that much, but he was nowhere near done.

He wanted to now know about the system and everything about it. Well, Jake did tell that he would end up dying if he were to say, but Jay thought that it was just some lie that Jake had made up on the spot.

That was why he ended up asking, "Tell me then, what do you know about the system...?"

"Who were the ones that created it and why was I the only one given that privilege to use them?"

"How am I able to gain skills and kinds of stuff from the system and how do I gain all penalties from it?", he asked.

"..."

"So you really want me dead?", Jake asked this without actually answering the questions.

"Oh come on, I know you won't be dead..."

"This room is soundproofed, isn't it? So that means that no one would be able to hear us..."

What Jay said was somewhat right, if the room was soundproof, then there was no need to worry since the only ones in the room were Jake and Jay.

Therefore they had nothing to worry about, that was precisely why they were able to discuss so many things in the first place.

"Sigh, how foolish can you be?", Jake asked.

"Huh?"

"Do you really think that they aren't hearing what we are speaking?"

"..."

When Jake said that, the entire room was filled with silence.

'Wait, does that mean they were hearing us all this time?'

'Do they have some mic or some hidden gadget here that conveyed our talks to them?', Jay wondered and looked here and there to check if there really was any device.

"Don't bother looking here and there, you won't find any gadgets here that are used by them...", Jake said as if he read Jay's mind.

"Uh...", Jay paused the moment Jake said that.

"They are the system creates after all, do you really think that the method they use to observe us would be so simple and limited to something as gadgets?", Jake asked.

'Hmm, he sure does have a point...', Jay thought about it for a moment.

'But I do want to know, what the system creators are...'

'Are they perhaps some sort of Gods that provided me with this ridiculous but amazing power?'

'Or are they some scientists that did experiments and were successful in creating a system which they used to attach to me?'

His imagination was awesome indeed. He tried to think of many possibilities and the identity of the System creators, but no matter what, he wouldn't know which of the answers holds the truth unless revealed to him directly.

"So you really can't tell me anything about them?", Jay asked.

"Hmm...", Jake scratched his head a bit while thinking about it.

"There is just one thing that I can tell you...", Jake said in a low but audible voice.

"What!?", Jay raised his voice with excitement almost immediately when he heard Jake say that.

"The System Creators..."

"..."

"They are someone you know..."

"Huh?", when Jay heard that, it was as if his mind went blank.

'They are someone I know?', he asked himself.

'Just what is he saying?'

'I know the system creators?', he asked himself, again and again, the same question.

The hammer of darkness and the cursed dagger vanished and went back to the inventory.

*gulp*

He raised his lowered head and looked at Jake with his eyes wide opened. He could see a small grin on his face.

'He doesn't seem to be lying...', Jay concluded after looking at his crystal clear eyes.

'Then does that mean, I really know the ones who created this system?'

'Who are they?'

'Who could it be?'

'Akaluman?'

Well, the questions started to rain in his head in which he was showering. No answers and no clue, everything seemed confusing to him.

The only thing that related everything was Akaluman, but it seemed like Jake had specified 'They', which meant that it was more than one being, but it would never hurt to ask Akaluman.

After thinking that Jay thought about leaving at once when suddenly Jake stopped him and told him something else too which ended up shocking him again.

"Stop thinking about the system creators..."

"Go and rescue the ones who asked for help first..."

"..."

To be continued...
