The Alphas Reincarnation Stats of a Wolf

Chapter 10: The Trials of the Unknown

The Trials of the Unknown"

The journey to the Beastman's clan was long and grueling, with the moon as their only guide. Fenn remained quiet, his unease evident in the way his hand hovered near his weapon. Ryu felt it too, a pressure in the air that made his pulse quicken.

When they finally arrived, the sight before them was nothing short of awe-inspiring. The clan's settlement was a fortress built into the mountainside, its walls carved with ancient symbols that seemed to hum with latent power. Warriors moved with purpose, their eyes sharp and wary.

The Beastman led them through the gates, stopping before an imposing figure—a towering elder with silver fur and piercing eyes.

"This is Ryu," the Beastman announced. "He has passed the first test."

The elder's gaze bore into Ryu, and for a moment, it felt as though he could see every secret, every flaw. "Strength alone is meaningless here," the elder said, his voice deep and resonant. "You will face the Trials. Only then will we decide if you are worthy."

Ryu squared his shoulders. "I'm ready."

The Trials Begin

The first trial was a test of physical endurance: traversing a treacherous mountain path while carrying a heavy boulder. Fenn, unwilling to leave Ryu's side, joined him despite the protests of the Beastman.

"You don't have to do this," Ryu said as they climbed.

Fenn grinned, though sweat dripped down his face. "Someone's gotta keep you alive."

The climb was brutal, but Ryu's determination pushed him forward. His Beast Assimilation skill activated instinctively, enhancing his stamina and allowing him to adapt to the thin mountain air.

Revealing Fenn's Power

Halfway through the climb, the path collapsed beneath them. Ryu grabbed a ledge, but Fenn slipped, falling into the abyss. Just as Ryu shouted his name, a burst of energy erupted from below. Fenn soared upward, his body surrounded by a faint, golden glow.

"You've got wings?" Ryu asked, astonished.

Fenn landed beside him, grinning. "Not quite. I can manipulate kinetic energy—redirect it, store it, release it. Comes in handy in situations like this."

Ryu smirked. "And you've been holding out on me?"

The Hero's Interference

As they completed the first trial, a shadow fell over them. A figure descended from the sky, clad in white and gold armor that glimmered in the sunlight.

"I am Luminar," the figure announced, his voice echoing across the mountains. "I've been watching you, Ryu. You don't belong with these beasts."

Ryu stepped forward, his fists clenched. "And who are you to decide where I belong?"

Luminar's gaze shifted to Fenn, then back to Ryu. "Your power is dangerous. If you continue down this path, you'll bring destruction to everything you touch. Come with me, and I'll show you a better way."

Ryu's laugh was cold. "A better way? You mean your way."

Luminar's expression hardened. "So be it."

The Fight

The battle was intense. Luminar's light-based attacks were relentless, forcing Ryu and Fenn to work together. Fenn used his kinetic energy to deflect beams of light, while Ryu relied on his instincts to anticipate Luminar's movements.

As the fight raged on, Ryu realized something: Luminar wasn't trying to kill them. He was testing them, just like the Beastman had.

Finally, Ryu saw his opening. With a burst of speed, he closed the distance between them and delivered a devastating punch to Luminar's chest, knocking him to the ground.

Luminar stood, brushing off the dust. "You're stronger than I thought. But strength without purpose is dangerous. Remember that."

Before Ryu could respond, Luminar vanished into the sky
