The Alphas Reincarnation Stats of a Wolf

Chapter 14: A Web of Shadows”

A Web of Shadows"

The firelight danced against the trees, casting eerie shadows across the clearing. Ryu sat near the edge of the camp, his thoughts restless despite his recent victory. He had passed the Trial of the Alpha, earned the respect of many in the clan, yet the unease in his chest wouldn't subside.

Daegan's words lingered in his mind. Will you follow their rules, or carve your own path?

Fenn joined him, settling down with a tired sigh. "You've got that look again. What's eating at you?"

"Daegan," Ryu admitted. "He's not just some rogue. He knows things. I can feel it."

"Don't let him get to you," Fenn said, though his tone lacked conviction. "The clan has rules for a reason."

Before Ryu could respond, Kierra appeared, her steps silent as a predator's. "He's right to worry."

Fenn frowned. "You're agreeing with him now?"

Kierra crossed her arms. "Daegan isn't just some exiled Beastman. He's a strategist. He plants seeds of doubt and watches them grow. If you're not careful, you'll play right into his hands."

Ryu met her gaze, his expression unyielding. "Then I'll make sure I don't."

Daegan's Shadow

As the camp settled for the night, a figure moved silently among the trees. Daegan stood at the edge of the clearing, his crimson eyes observing the Beastman clan. He smirked, satisfied.

"He's stronger than I expected," Daegan muttered to himself. "But strength isn't enough. Let's see how well he handles the next test."

With a wave of his hand, shadowy tendrils rippled through the forest, their dark energy spreading toward the camp.

A Hero Arrives

The next morning, the clan was thrown into chaos. A blinding light erupted near the outskirts, accompanied by a deafening roar. Warriors rushed to the scene, weapons drawn, only to find a lone figure standing amidst the wreckage of fallen trees.

He was tall and clad in shimmering armor, his presence commanding. The hero's voice boomed. "I am Ardent, protector of these lands. I have come for Daegan."

Ryu pushed his way through the crowd, his eyes narrowing. "Daegan isn't here."

Ardent's gaze shifted to him. "You've encountered him. That much is clear. He leaves destruction wherever he goes. If you stand in my way, I'll consider you complicit."

Before Ryu could respond, Kierra stepped forward, her tone sharp. "You don't know anything about us or what we've been through. Don't judge us based on Daegan's actions."

Ardent's eyes softened slightly. "Then prove your innocence. Help me stop him."

The Next Trial

As tensions with Ardent simmered, the elder called for a meeting. The clan gathered in the central clearing, where the elder addressed them.

"Daegan's shadow looms over us, and now the eyes of the outside world are upon us as well," the elder said, glancing at Ardent. "Ryu, your trial is not yet complete. You must find Daegan and bring him to justice. Only then will you prove your loyalty to the clan."

The crowd murmured, but Ryu stepped forward, his resolve firm. "I'll do it. But I'm not doing this for the clan. I'm doing it because it's the right thing to do.
